"And it's not even clear what went wrong with this spirit," Elton says. "Back then, Garou were always quick to blame 'the Wyrm,' like Puritans blaming bad harvests on the Devil. But we don't know if this spirit was 'of the Wyrm.' We just know that it took out an entire caern on Cape Cod, tore a hole through Boston. In his writings, Chains-the-Lie says it was Cockroach, the old Patron Spirit of the Glass Walkers. When it became poisoned by radiation, the Garou had to put it down, and the Glass Walkers subsequently became Spider's tribe. But Graynail says it was the mother of all Nexus Crawlers—a living rip in the Umbra, but bigger than anyone had ever seen before. And Jane said it was something alternately called Oblivion, the Mouth of Yomi, or the Black Sun."
"The point," Melodie says, "is that not even the dead know what died here in the '60s, but they're all afraid of it. Apparently my sister even explored whatever realm or reality this thing came from."
"Could this be an alchemist thing? Maybe we should talk to some human occultists."
"I'm worried this thing might draw human occultists." They're always tugging on the Veil, causing trouble.
"Is this above our pay grade? It sounds like messing with it could get us Oblivioned or Yomied or whatever happens to foolish Garou."
"Is there any way to get inside and explore?"
