chapter 1 Thats my life

I can't say I had a bad time or a good time in my last life. Either way I see it, no matter how good I had it or how much better it could have been. I'm sure I would have complained its just my human nature, but I do know one thing about my last life though... and that is I was unmotivated to do anything. I had no goals that I wanted to strive for.

I always felt like I was just going through life and not living it, and I know I was not the only person to feel that way. Otherwise why would so many of us be obsessed with anime, comics, and novels. It was our get away from our shit world, well that and drugs.

So I was always envious of the characters who get brought into another world. Well..... I know better now, I went to bed in my last life and when I woke up again I was in a new body and a new world. I was so excited at first... till I found out this is a gu world.

The gu world where you can do everything right and still die. Where fate gu and heaven's will determine what you'll be able to accomplish. I was depressed for a while till I found out this is a whole other gu world. Not the story gu world that Gu Zhen Ren created.

No this world is very different from the story version. In this world their was no racism, all the variant humans got along, and the variant humans weren't dumb. They got along enough to deal with a common enemy... fate gu and heaven's will. From the stories I've been told and heard, the venerables in this world did something to weaken and seal fate gu, and give heaven's will a form to bound it.

Thus freeing the people of this world from those two, but I'll take these stories with a grain of salt. Not untill I hear it from a trustworthy source such as an immortal, but I'm not even a gu master. How could I get in contact with the upper echelon of this world.

That would only happen if I was a direct descendant of one or if I become an immortal myself, but who knows if that'll happen. Right now I'm just a 15 year old bastard named Shuidi Zhide Hu which is a mouthful, but my previous last name was also long so its whatever.

???[ little Shu whats got you so distracted?]

A woman called out to me, she had tanned skin, short blue hair, green eyes, was about 5'6, and seemed to be in her late twenties. This woman was my aunt who was currently taking care of me. My situation is a little weird but to sum it up. I'm a bastard son, my father hooked up with a mortal woman cheating on his wife and having me, but since I have his blood I'm still considered a clansmen, but for my "safety" I was sent to live with my aunt.

Who happens to work at our clan's caravan. So i don't know how that's considered "safe". If anything I'm at more danger here than in my clan.

Aunt[ not gonna answer me huh? I'd be pissed at anyone else but since you have that gu on your forehead I can't blame you for not wanting to speak.]

I extended my hand and grabbed a small bug that was on my forehead. It was a firefly the size of a fingernail that was glowing a white light. This is a unique rank 1 gu that can be used by even mortals.... well kind of. This gu's name is truth shines gu, it is similar to the story's gentleman bamboo gu.

It feeds on honesty and can not ever be refined by someone who has ever told a lie. It will not even land on a person who has ever told a lie not without hurting itself. So as long as a person has never told a lie this gu will not leave their food source.

Its a man made gu created by my clan, once a child is old enough to speak they are given this gu and are told never to lie, but lets be honest no normal kid is always gonna be truthful. Even though I'm usually away from the clan, I personally don't know of anyone my age who can still use this gu. In the beginning i was afraid that this gu would die on me. After all I know for a fact that I've said lies in my last life, but I guess it didn't count my past life.

Even though I was a child i had the mentality of a grown man. Thus I knew never to tell a lie and lose this gu. Hell if I don't awaken my aperture I can still feed this gu and get a job with it. After all this gu can only survive on a person who has never told a lie. Their will always be a need for people that can feed these gu.

Aunt[ before we arrive at the clan is their anything you'd like to have as a gift for the ceremony?]

I looked at my aunt and pondered.

Shu[ they're many things I'd like, but if I had to ask for something from you it would be a gu that can permanently increase my strength.]

Aunt[ a strength gu? Is that the path you want to use... well its not that bad. It uses less primeval essence and heck it'll give your barbaric weapons a boost. I'll ask around I'm sure I can get one, just don't be too disappointed when all I could get is some weak beast one.]

Shu[ thank you I would appreciate it.]

She smiled as she pat my head which would be endearing, if she didn't then start groping my arms.

Aunt[ well no worries, even if you don't awaken your aperture. It won't be hard to find you a wife, with your looks and the fact that you don't ever lie. It'll be easy to find you a wife to take care of you.]

This is probably the most weirdest thing to me about this world. Its not the strange beasts, gu, or gu masters, but the fact that this world's gender roles are backwards.

In my hand was a twenty inch wooden rod with a special type of leaves on its end. The tip was a white arrow head made from a certain fish scale. Since I was forced to join this caravan I figured I might as well make some coin.

I went around to a good amount of other clans, where I was able to talk with their mortals who weren't part of the clan. I paid a small price and was taught how to make some weapons. I was able to gather better materials to use and then sold them to the mortals all around. Since everyone else in the caravan catered to gu masters, I made a decent amount of primeval essence stones.

After years of making weapons and training myself to use them. I realized just how underrated they were in the story, but I'll be sure to use them. As I was walking I could feel the humidity in the air increase. I looked up to see a sight that still leaves me shocked to see too this day.

Their were many buildings of many sizes with ponds and lakes everywhere, but thats not what made this place stunning. In the air were several large spherical bodies of water covering the entirety of the buildings. It looked like a beautiful necklace full of colorful gems. This is my Hu clan's village, I belong to this large sized clan that is stationed in central continent.

Aunt[ I've still got some things to take care of here, go on ahead and go home.]

I nodded my head at her and gathered my stuff, putting a couple chests and three saplings on the back of a large flat back lizard. This beast is called flat back lizard, they got the intelligence of a bird and have a very docile nature.

Leading this beast I made my way to a large sized home, and put away my chests in my room. While I put the saplings in the backyard along with the flat back lizard. Only to meet someone else in the backyard.

???[ you've returned on time... good and you haven't lost truth shines gu either that is for the best.]

The person who spoke, was a young man who looked to be in his early twenties. He had long light blue hair neatly styled behind his back, he had dark green eyes, pale white skin, and stood up at 5'10. He was the definition of a otherworldly pretty boy, but I just call him father.

Shu[ I have returned father, aunt is still dealing with some things.]

Father[..... I see you have brought more of those saplings. You really plan on growing them to sell huh?]

At his response I said nothing, I just looked at my little trees. I have about twenty of them in total now, and it's not like I planned on growing them to sell. No I need them for another reason, but I won't tell him.

Father[ I see you don't want to talk about it, go on in and eat well. You have a big day tomorrow.]

I shook my head in acknowledgment and went in, this is another reason why I kept truth shines gu. I can chose not to talk and people won't get upset with me. I went inside and took a plate of food with me back to my room.

My room was decently sized but it was full of things. From barrels to chests and weapons stored on the walls and in barrels. I have been busy since I was able to move around unsupervised. All to prepare for my awakening. Even if I only awaken a d grade aperture I'd be happy.
