Moonlight Night Run

Bai Xiang currently had around 2 months before he left for to capital to attend a disciple recruitment so he needed to make the most of the time he had, losing a week of cultivation to give a more powerful technique to his parents he at least wanted to be able to use the first step of his new movement technique within that week so that it was not a total waste of time.

With that said he finally had some success on the second day after giving his parents their new cultivation method.

While he was practicing the movements in his room his movements were profound and mysterious as he tried to take a single step, to normal mortals it might look strange but to any cultivator with any ability they would be able to see that he was practicing something that was very powerful.

'I need to start going somewhere else to practice, this room is too small and I won't be able to improve the technique if I don't even have the space to use the technique without slamming into the wall.'

With that in mind, he decided to venture outside the city for the first time since arriving in this world. Thankfully he had a small token to signify he was a citizen so he didn't have to pay the entry fee when he returned so he would not have to waste the small amount of money he had.

At this time both of his parents were at work so after a simple meal he made his way to the city gate, once he arrived at a simple stone gate with a few guards standing around he quickly left without even talking to anyone and made his way towards a small wooded area to practice his movement technique.

When he arrived at the somewhat pathetic forest he instantly began looking around and saw no people or animals, compared to what he expected there did not seem to be any monsters but that was fine with him since he came to practice the first step of the Moonlight Night Run.

Without further stalling, he began performing the technique as he read in the manual until an hour later he finally found success!

[New Moon]

He finally performed a technique for the first time and suddenly realized he had moved a few meters away from where he was standing without realizing it.

"Finally, that took much longer to learn than I first thought."

As he was on cloud nine after finally becoming able to use his first technique he tried to do it again.

[New Moon]

Unfortunately this time nothing happened and he quickly realized that although he was able to use it now, he was still not at a stage where he would be able to activate it at will.

That might sound depressing but even just being able to do it once was enough to show Bai Xiang that it was possible, all that was needed was practice.

After a few hours of practicing, he was completely exhausted after using up all of his qi, but that did not stop him from feeling amazing though.

The reason for his happiness was that after his practice, he could now complete the first step with a high percentage of accuracy, which also meant he could keep it active for more than a single step at a time, allowing his speed while using it to rapidly increase.

While lying down on the soft grass Bai Xiang was looking up at the sky through the leaves of the trees with a content expression, if he could do the same thing for the rest of the week he was confident he would be able to have enough control over the first step to use it on command.

Once he had control over a powerful movement technique many opportunities would be open to him, allowing him to explore with more reassurance that he could escape and it would also allow him to get used to a high-level technique which would no doubt allow him to learn his next technique with fewer issues.

Looking at the location of the sun he realized that his parents were most likely home already or soon would be. meaning he should return home soon or he would make them worried.

As he sat up and began walking out of the forest he felt terrible, his entire body was exhausted and he was absolutely starving. He would have to make a note to bring some kind of snack with him the next time he came out.

With slowly trudging home he came across a small outcropping of berry bushes and stopped trying to figure out if they were safe to eat or not, after around 5 minutes of trying to remember any telltale signs of dangerous berries he decided to simply ask his system, it should know, right?

<Host, the berries in front of currently are the Electripearl Berry, they are safe to eat but have a small side effect. That being that every hair on your body will stand on end for an hour per berry eaten.>

Looking at the small light blue berries Bai Xiang instantly started calculating if it was worth it to eat the berries or not, it was pretty easy to imagine that the side effect, although not dangerous, was sure to be uncomfortable. After a short time of contemplating, he grabbed a handful and tossed them in his mouth.

Instantly he tasted an extremely sweet taste that sent a shock down his spine, they were the sweetest berries he had ever tasted, and instantly wanted to eat more but stopped himself as he decided to feel the side effects first.

It did not take long as soon every hair on his body began raising until they were all standing straight up after this Bai Xiang quickly found out why such a tasty berry was left unpicked so close to the city.

Every time he moved his hair would rub on everything and was extremely uncomfortable, instantly he thought back to how many he had eaten and frowned.

'I will be like this for 7 hours?!'

Without any wait he quickly ran back home to try to sleep the side effect off instantly, now determined to bring a snack with him next time so he was never so desperate for food again.

Unfortunately for him, there seemed to be some commotion at the gate when he arrived, causing him to have to wait in a long line to get back inside the city.
