Chapter 50: The real Royals

Next morning….
Eren woke up and went down to eat his breakfast.
He had a nice sleep yesterday. He never slept like that after he went away from home to join the academy.
After eating breakfast, he was about to ask about his mom's background but, from Kuromi's face, it was evident that she wanna say something crucial.
"Attie, it's time you know about your family." Kuromi slowly said in a serious tone.
Eren was surprised. He never thought that his mother would tell him about this even before he asked. But, he nodded at his mother to continue.
"Our family is one of the main backbones of the kingdom. It's us, the Greylash that controls all the things that the so-called Royals can't handle.
I am the daughter of the current family leader who is your grandpa.
I went to my family to see them after the appearance of the game. At that time, your grandpa asked you to come with me to the Greylash castle.
It is located on a hill which is a restricted zone and no one can access it. Even the Royals had to ask our permission beforehand to enter. Or else, our guards will shoot them down as they only obey our orders of us, not the Royals.
So, why haven't I told you about this before? It's because you were too young and you may expose the secrets to all and cause quite a ruckus. We are a family that hides in the shadows and only comes when there is a threat to the kingdom.
Our existence and power are only known to a few high noble families. They also kept it a secret and went tell any info about it.
We are the royal bloodline. But, we decided to abandon our job as the king and queen.
The now-ruling Royals are just pawns of us but with some freedom. If we want, we could just strip them of their status and become the new Royals.
When we reach our home, the Greylash castle, I will tell you more about it."
Kuromi concluded her words.
Eren was surprised to hear these things. Even though he speculated that his family would be powerful, he never thought that his family was the real Royal family.
All the things said by Kuromi stirred in his mind as he digested while keeping his eyes closed….
