9] Dear Brother

(Zero POV, somewhere on the eastern continent)

I was training in the forest somewhere, waiting for my swords to arrive. When I notice something, a tree that looks like it's mocking me. You know what I do? I cut it down with a single strike.

Zero- "Don't mock me." I then proceed to make the tree into firewood, so I can increase my heat resistance.

"Ugh. It's just training and more training... This world is brutal..." I wipe my brow, sweating heavily due to the nature of the fire. I'm not burning due to the shihakusho, but the heat is real.

"I better add some temperature resistance training, this will break the newbie's spirits quickly." I begin to laugh at the thought of their despair-ridden faces. The only downside is that they'll be weak to cold... Pah! We have winter, how could I forget? 

I will terrorize them in the winter, no heat sources allowed. I guess they'll have to constantly train to keep their bodies from freezing... HAHA! If they don't break from the heat, they'll break from the cold. If they somehow surprise me, and last through both of them... I'll reward them with an elite spot in the force, it takes a lot of willpower to withstand this.

I proceed to basically meditate in the fire until midnight, until some weird magic portal thing emerges. I quickly put the fire out, and observe what the thing is showing. A boy with black hair sleeping in a dark red room, but here's the thing... Aside from it being dark red, the room looks modern.

Zero- "What the hell?" I touch the portal and my hand goes through, allowing me access to that world. A smile makes it's way onto my face.

"If I can somehow bring some tech from that world, the progression in this world will skyrocket!" It seems my habit of thinking out loud woke the person up, I'm about to curse when I notice his eyes.

We both stare into each other's eyes for a moment.

Both- "Brother?" A wicked smile appears on both of our faces, but he quickly covers his.

Brother?- "What happened? Why is there a portal, are you my brother?" He seems apprehensive.

Zero- "I can't say for certain... Was your father a sociopathic madman who forced us to become freaks of nature?" His eyes darken a moment, before they light up again.

Brother?- "Yeah! Wait, so you truly are my brother?" I shrug.

"Why are you so... small? And are you wearing Soul Reaper clothes?" He begins laughing, and I sigh.

Zero- "A LOT has happened. I'm basically the Head Captain of the Gotei 13, and I'm only fifteen and a half." He winces.

Brother- "You're the same age as me? How long were you in this world?"

Zero- "Ten and a half years, you?" The look of shock is apparent on his face.

Brother- "Ten years? I've only been here for half of one!" Now the shock is on my face.

Zero- "You've only been here for six months, yet you radiate such danger? What training did you do?" His eyes glow purple for a moment, much to my surprise.

"What the hell was that!? How did your eyes do that!?" He answers nonchalantly. 

Brother- "Oh it's a Flair I stole from my not-sister... By the way, why do you have no Aura?" He looks at my body up and down.

Zero- "Aura? Flairs? You're in an alternate universe. Is there an outside media from our original world that you think you're in?" He scoffs.

Brother- "Think? I know I'm in 'The Weight of a Tempest', it's not hard. What world are you in?" I tap my chin, thinking about his world.

Zero- "I'm in Chrono Trigger... What's... Yours? Like, an anime or something?" He chuckles.

Brother- "Mine's a novel." Something clicks in my mind.

Zero- "I see. I wouldn't know anything about it, as I'm not really too into novels. I'm more of an anime/manga/game enjoyer." He chuckles.

Brother- "I'm the same, just replace the game part with novel." 

We sit there and catch up, telling each other of our exploits.

Zero- "Damn! You ripped his spine out and killed someone else with it? HAHAHA! Nice! I'm definitely doing that later!"

Bro- "You're not much better. I think you're actually worse! The way you tort- *Ahem* Trained those people... Even I feel bad for them, and I have a problem with my savagery."

Zero- "You do really need to get that worked out bro, you can't be doing that without control." He hangs his head, before motioning to his room.

Bro- "Why do you think my room looks like this? My walls were white!"

Zero- "Who did you do this to?" He hesitates to answer slightly.

Bro- "...Myself... It's the only way to force myself to not have those urges in a timely manner, I have school!" I shake my head slightly.

Zero- "I understand, but I have to say that it is kind of disappointing... By the way what's your name in this world?" I change the subject quickly, not wanting the mood to get somber.

Bro- "Oh! I'm Shin Hohl Vide! What's yours?" I click my tongue.

Zero- "Bragging with your full name... It's just Zero, no middle or last name." He looks a bit confused.

Shin- "But at least your name is cool."

Zero- "Yeah, I picked it. But your name isn't bad either. True Hollow Something, pretty banger." He seems startled.

Shin- "My name means True Hollow Void, how did you know? Also, you got to pick your name? What the heck?"

Zero- "I learned Japanese and German, but you didn't get to pick your name?" He shakes his head. 

"I picked mine when I met my ROB, didn't you meet one?"

Shin- "Who's ROB?" I facepalm.

Zero- "Random Omniscient Being." He nods slightly.

Shin- "I see. No, I didn't meet a ROB. I just woke up in this guy's body after dying in a way that I don't wish to recount." I tell him how I died, but that didn't seem to loosen his lips much.

"At least you died quickly." Quickly? I survived many injuries, including being cut in half... What did he go through to make that seem quick?

Shin- "Anyway, about that girl I was telling you about." He changes topics with lightning speed.

Zero- "Which one, the one that you were having a dilemma about?" He nods.

"So, what about her?" He pauses before talking again.

Shin- "Should I do it? You're the expert on our family's emotions here, is it possible?" I shrug, a slight smirk emerging.

Zero- "You know, you're lucky. I can't get the chance to even come close to falling in love within the next two years." He seems confused, but understands my situation.

"You should go for it while you have the chance, if the world is as dangerous as you have told me. I say do it, the world could take her away from you at any moment." He looks down.

"What about sparring with me for a while, if you win, I'll teach you some techniques." He nods, gets up and writes something down on a piece of paper. He leaves, and comes back in a few minutes.

Shin- "Okay, you're on!"
