Elgis cleared his throat before starting. "Well, Lucille, the king and I have both decided that your age of seventeen is a good time for you to look for someone to marry to."
Kaie widened her eyes and said, "Dad, I would love to discuss this, but could we please do so after I rest? I feel quite exhausted."
He gave her a warm smile. "Of course. I'll be waiting for you after you rest."
As Elgis lifted her up to her room, one of the needles hidden in her dress fell onto the floor. He noticed and his expression instantly darkened. "Lucille, are these your needles?"
She shook her head, innocently. "Of course not, Dad. I would never bring needles around, especially in my dress!"
Her father clenched his hand. "Then Lucille, did someone try to attack you with needles? That's unacceptable! If anyone tried to harm you, you must tell me!"
Kaie let out an inward sigh as Elgis placed her onto her bed. "No, Dad. No one tried to harm me. They probably got there when I was stitching. My apologies, I didn't mean to worry you."
He frowned and then patted her gently on the head. "If you say so, my dear daughter. Take a good nap. I shall be waiting in the dining hall afterwards for dinner so we can discuss."
She nodded and waved as he exited her room. "See you, Dad..."
When he finally closed the door, Kaie let out an exhausted breath. "Finally! I'm all alone! Get this dress off of me!" She quickly changed into some more casual clothes. There was only a simple button-up pink t-shirt and some white leggings, but she took it anyways.
She looked down at herself and almost sighed. "I look ridiculous. Seriously, who doesn't have casual clothes? Why are they all blue, pink, or white dresses?" Kaie pulled open the window in Lucille's room.
A fresh breeze ran in and it ruffled through her black hair. She looked down to see that her room was on the second floor of the mansion. It seemed to face the back of the mansion, as she could see the training grounds where the knights were.
Kaie looked down as she watched the spar. 'Oh? They're not half-bad. Although if I was in my peak condition, I'd surely destroy them.' She stretched a bit as she watched them. "They're swordsmanship is full of holes. I guess this is the medieval times after all. Not creative at all!"
She closed the window and then walked towards her bed once more. Kaie flopped down and sighed. "I need to get this body in shape, so I can defend myself from any dangers in case of something happens! Alright, I'll start working out!"
She quickly tied her long hair into a ponytail so it wouldn't get into her eyes. Kaie started stretching herself out and then doing some pushups. However, five pushups later, she was completely out of it.
She laid down on the floor, facing up and lifted a hand towards the ceiling. "This body is seriously weak! I can't even do five pushups properly! Alright, I'll whip this body into shape within three months! And then I'll ask Duke Elgis to let me learn swordsmanship!"
Kaie started working out once more, only to collapse onto the floor a few minutes later. Letting out a long, annoyed breath, she laid back down on the ground. "I hate this...I was even better when I was a kid! This is seriously frustrating! But, I swear I'll get into shape, somehow!"
~~~~~
A few hours later...
Kaie laid on the bed, completely worn out. She frowned as she looked up. 'This is bad! Duke Elgis would have thought that I was napping, but to be sweating and worn out like this! He'll probably think that something happened to me!'
She quickly changed back into the dress she was wearing earlier. It definitely didn't help with the sweat. Kaie quickly cleaned up her messy hair and brushed it straight once more. She quickly wiped off her sweat and calmed her breath. 'Take a deep breath...I can control this. I'll make it seem as if I was sleeping.'
Kaie went to the door of her room and exited, letting out a fake yawn. Colette was standing my the door waiting for her. "Lady Lucille, I hope you had a good name. Your father is waiting for you in the dining hall." She dipped her head and led her to the dining hall.
Kaie gave her a fake smile and opened the door. "Thank you, Colette." She saw Elgis sitting at the end of a rectangular table. He gave her a warm smile. "My daughter, come, sit next to me."
She knew what conversation was going to come. Kaie did try to delay it, but it was still going to come, no matter how much she wants to stop it. She curtsied and sat in the seat next to her father. "Hello, Dad. Hope you weren't waiting too long."
He shook his head and patted her head. "Of course not, Lucille. Let's have a good meal first."
A few chefs pulled up and placed some plates on the table. There were a variety desserts, meat, and vegetables. Kaie took some meat and vegetables, leaving out the desserts. She needed to eat healthily to build up some stamina and muscle.
Elgis frowned when he saw her plate. "Lucille, are you feeling alright? You normally love these deserts. I even asked them to specifically make your favorite cupcake."
Kaie paused her eating for a moment. 'Oops. I forgot that Lucille loves desserts.' She smiled and looked down at her plate. "Dad, I do love desserts, but during the dances, I noticed how I kept holding everyone back. I don't want that to happen anymore, so I'll eat what I need to!"
He let out a satisfied nod. "I'm glad you decided to do that, Lucille. Besides, let's get to the topic at hand. As I was saying before, we need to talk about your marriage. You are at that age now."
