To the surprise of all, including me, Valyria was not interested in continuing the war to recover its lost colonies. Instead, they started to look for other ways of expanding.
Qohor has declared war on Ar Noy. Due to its location, Qohor functions as the gateway to the Kingdom of Sarnor and the lands beyond. Trading caravans bound for or returning from Kingdom of Sarnor provision themselves in Qohor before heading towards Vaes Dothrak.
In turn, overland merchant caravans from Yi Ti headed west over the Bone Mountains to Vaes Dothrak, later the Kingdom of Sarnor, where they trade with merchants from the Valyrian Empire colonies.
The Forest of Qohor is the principal source of wealth in the city, together with Qohorik forges. Qohorik tapestries are comparable to those made by the Myrish, though cheaper, which is not much to say truly. Exquisite wooden carvings are sold in the city's markets as well.
Qohorik forges are considered to have no equal in the Valyria colonies, but they are far inferior to the ones from Valyria, and any of the rhoynar cities.
They are capable of infusing a deep color into the metal with beautiful results, but just that, as they cannot improve the metal with magic and so own, and their metal arts were not that beautiful if compared to any magical metal.
Additionally, they also have smiths that know how to rework Valyrian steel, however, only someone without much money, something hard to say about someone that owns anything with valyrian steel; would go to their forges to recast valyrian steel, when Valyria was still around.
Timber had once been shipped down the Qhoyne to Dagger Lake, Selhorys, Valysar, Volon Therys, and Volantis. The problem is that the city trade partners Selhorys, Valysar, and Volantis were gone.
Volon Therys was renamed Anga and the trade with the city was close to zero right now.
They at least still could trade with Ar Noy( at least before the war), the rich Chroyane, the city whose wealth is said to rival Valyria, and the ever-warring Tall Men of the Kingdom of Sarnor.
One may wonder if the city basically sustains itself with trade with its neighbors, why would it start a war? It resumes a major problem the city was having as a consequence right now, they need slaves.
Slaves cut their wood, some sorcerers need a good source of blood sacrifice, and they weave their tapestry.
They could buy slaves from the Kingdom of Sarnor, as some Sarnori, the less honorable, sell the people from their enemies as slaves.
The problem was, however, that the Sarnori mostly were great slave buyers as well, so the few slaves that reach the Qohor market were very expensive compared to the ones sold by the slave bay.
The city is ruled by a council of Black Goat sorcerer masters.
Some nobles(merchants) and other sorcerers were allowed into the council, after paying the proper bribe and offering calves, bullocks, or horses for a priest to sacrifice, to have a seat in the council and participate in official meetings.
However, they are visitors members, without any voting power. So whenever the nobles want something they have to shower the sorcerers with gifts. This time it was not necessary, as the sorcerers, were worried about their stock of sacrifice.
Although they only sacrifice people on holy days, the best calves, bullocks, and horses used to come from Pentos, through Norvos, now they come from Ghoyan Drohe.
The people, they sacrifice, are convicted criminals, most of which are slaves that bother their masters in any sort of way.
Qohor priests take responsibility for judging slaves themselves, and usually, after sending rebellious slaves to death, the city pays financial compensation to their master, as according to Valyria law.
It is important to note that a rebellious slave is defined by the level of patience of a master it can mean from open rebellion to accidentally spilling a wine cup on their master...
Ghoyan Drohe is increasing the price of these products as a sort of "revenge" against the Qohory that took their timber market.
The initial settlement of Qohor was a lumber camp along the Forest of Qohor. Qohor was colonized by followers of the Black Goat. The religious dissidents abandoned Valyria, rejecting the religious tolerance practiced by the Valyrian Freehold.
How Qohor declared war? Their sea navy started to kidnap river fishermen/women and take them as slaves.
Ar Noy gave them an ultimatum, and they answered with a festival sacrificing some of the slaves to the Black Goat in other to achieve victory in the war.
While the real me joins the war against Norvos to keep the alliance with Groyan Drohe and establish an alliance with Ny Sar, I went with an army of a thousand soldiers of Anga.
We pretended to be a mercenary company that I named the Dragonslayers of Anga, as we passed through Chroyane because I fear they could misunderstand the reason our troops were passing through their territory.
Passing through rhoynar cities with a mercenary company was already hard, passing with a national army was impossible without war.
I can feel that dragons are getting closer so, I got up, lifted a fire, prayed to Surya and Sanjna, and started firing at the sky and killing dragons. Some were far, so I started to run around the camp so I could get closer to them.
I am so weak compared to real Karna I have to use the power of the bow to ensure the dragons' death, as my strength was not enough to tear them apart.
After a while more than sixty dragons were dead. Sadly the remaining dragons, I think they were ninety, ran away or should I say flew away. I was already exhausted, after this long running, after all these d*mn dragons have to disperse while running away. How annoying! I have to run everywhere like crazy.
One of the dragons with his rider tried to hide in the bush. I kill it with its rider. Put the dragon on my back and carried it to give to the ruler princess of Ar Noy.
I could not have my mercenary company, although fake, have its reputation smeared by allegations that I ran away, and also it was an opportunity to invite them to the alliance that Karna is forming.
I concluded that I needed to be faster and bolder if I want to forge alliances, as an all-out war is getting closer. No one was brave enough to stop the man carrying an enormous dragon to have an audience with their ruler.
"Your highness, ruler princess of Ar Noy, Larra, I would like to present this gift as a token of friendship between our nations, Ar Noy and Anga," I said to the princess.
"So you steemed warrior dragonslayer is from Anga. The young city that some are beginning to call the seventh great rhoynar city. Would you be interested in joining Ar Noy? I offer to help you build your own city, or if you prefer we may give you Qohor to rule."
"I'm honored by this offer, but I am only a shadow to my true self, the ruler of Anga, Karna. "I answered.
"You mean that the ruler prince of Anga is stronger than you?" she asked.
"No, he is my true self. If I may, can I change the subject?" I answered and asked. She nodded her head.
"I may have killed all dragons that I could, as the rest ran away, but Valyria will surely come back to take revenge sooner or later so in the name of Anga we wanted to invite your nation to join our alliance against the Valyrian Empire." I said.
" I accept."she said.
"That quickly?"I asked.
"I concluded it was better to have you as an ally, than an enemy." she said, looking at the dragon I carried here.
"I understand. Our alliance is right now formed by Anga, Sarhoy, Sar Mell, and now Ar Noy with you joining. We are in the process of extending the alliance with Groyan Drohe and inviting Ny Sar.
Also, I would recommend using the bones to make arrows. The scales do make nice leather armor. I already used detoxifying magic, so the meat can already be eaten."
"Thank you" she said.
"You are welcome" I concluded.
Later, Qohor's strong stone walls were destroyed by the Qhoyne dark waters, and Ar Noy's army took over the remains and executed all the blood mages. The other valyrians were expelled to Norvos. The slaves were set free and the city was extinct. No dragon came to bother us again.
I apologized to Karna's soldiers for leaving them, as I got too caught up in the pursuit.
