Fighting The Bear

'Wonderful... I was just wanted to test my skills!' Basmon thought.

That night, Clarke slung Basmon over his back and walked into the forest, red leaves crunching under his feet.

In the distance, the howling of wolves and crickets could be heard. In the sky, 2 moons could be seen, one seemingly smaller than the other. The stars twinkled in the sky as if encouraging the older man, Clarke, in his upcoming fight.

The path was brightly lit, with rays of moonlight shining down. In the distance, a bright light flashed and disappeared, along with a loud "Bang".

Clarke kept walking for about 3 hours when he suddenly stopped.

'Master... We are near the bear's den!' Clarke told Basmon.

'Wonderful... Let's set the entire den on fire. Hold me like you are going to shoot an arrow, I will summon a fire arrow. Worry not, it will not harm you.' Basmon told Clarke.

Clarke took Basmon off his back and set up his stance to shoot into the den, which was about 30 meters away. He felt weird not having an arrow in his hand, but he trusted Basmon. His mind had kind of broken after his own child tried to kill him.

A fire arrow formed on the bow, and Clarke hesitantly grabbed it. Surprisingly to him, he could grasp the arrow and it wouldn't hurt him. He drew the bow and released. The arrow flew, and a flame trail came out behind it.

The arrow hit the grass on the inside of the cave, which was very dry, immediately catching fire and starting to roar up, sizzling, crackling, and popping. Within 10 seconds, the entire front of the den was aroar in flames.

From the inside of the den, a huge silhouette appeared. It stood up and its hind legs, and bellowed out a roar. The roar seemed to shake the ground.

Clarke stood in the same place, petrified. He had clearly underestimated the bear.

'Clarke! Wake Up!' Basmon commanded.

Clarke woke from his daze, startled, and looked at the roaring bear.

'How Can I kill that thing?' He wondered to himself.

'Clarke! Start shooting it!' Basmon half yelled at Clarke.

Clarke immediately turned 90 Degrees of the bear, and grabbed an arrow, reading to start raining arrows on him.

'Shoot only 1 arrow. I will use my skills.' Basmon commanded Clarke.

Clarke immediately obeyed, drawing back the bow and releasing.

Basmon used his skill 'Triple Shot' immediately, causing 3 arrows to appear in the sky.

-4 Mana

Basmons sight focused on the arrows, and to Basmon it felt like time had slowed down. The moment the arrows came within 10 Meters of the bear, basmon used his teleporting arrow skill twice, causing 2 of the arrows to hit the bear's eyes, and the other its thick fur.

-60 Mana

"ROOOOAAAAAAAAR" The bear thrashed around, not being able to see anymore. The bear, becoming blind with rage, started to not care about the pain. It ran through the fire to blindly charge at Clarke and Basmon.

"Master! What should I do?" Clarke said aloud, panic resounding in his voice.

'Stay still! I'll use invisibility on you and me so he can't notice us!' Basmon said to Clarke.

"...Master... He's blind already." Clarke pointed out, turning around to run.

'Wait... Oh. Yeah. Alright, run. Try to get to a large tree and scale it quickly. The bear will die on its own.' Basmon said, trying to cover up his mistake.

"Yes, Master!" Clarke said, running towards a large tree he had seen before. He immediately used an arrow from the quiver to scale the tree, with the bear on his heels.

The bear reared up at him, who he could smell up there, even though all the smoke, but couldn't reach.

'Shoot the bear for extra damage!' Basmon said to Clarke, giving him some Advice.

"Alright, Master!" He said. Below him, the bear started to ram the tree with his head, causing it to shake a bit.

Clarke had a bit of trouble, shooting from up in the tree, but the fact that he was able to do it showed that he was a better archer than Basmon. He shot the bear a couple of times, and after a bit, it started to become a porcupine.

'D***... Didn't know evolution was this fast!' Basmon said to Clarke, who did not understand at all the joke.

After about 30 minutes of the bear ramming the tree, it fell to the ground with a thud. It had died.

<Triple Shot Leveled Up! Became skill: Arrow Clone: Clone arrows in the air, no limit. Cost 2 Mana/Arrow, doubling for every extra 3 arrows added. (So for 3 arrows it would be 6 mana, but for 6 it would be 6+ 12) Max Level>

<Quest Complete: Kill a bear: +60TP>

'Wonderful... Although this is mana expensive, it could easily be used well...' Basmon said, contemplating how to use this newly evolved skill. He also wondered about the quest, but he had not checked his quest tab yet after ranking up.

"M-Master... We... We did it!" Clarke said, slumping to the ground beside the bear's corpse, exhausted. His body was older in the first place, and as athletic as he was, this was hard on him.

'You did wonderful, Clarke...' Basmon compliment him.

Clarke's face lit up like a child's. He was clearly happy. It was like there were 2 different people inside of him, one a happy child and one the broken older man.

'Wonderful... We should go back to camp... Leave the bear, we don't want to attract attention..." Basmon told Clarke.

Clarke tiredly got up and walked towards the camp after slinging Basmon over his shoulder.

After getting back to the camp, Clarke fell asleep on the ground. Basmon decided to check on the quests. 'Quest'

<Quests: Completed: Kill A Bear>

<Quest: Basic Release and follow through: Read And practice Basic Release and follow through>

<Quest: Kill a flying animal: (0/10)>

<Quest: Learn how to shoot down a moving object>

'Interesting... So these are my quests. I guess I could do some of these now...' Basmon thought, going to the training room. After about 12 minutes, he found the book that was, once more, hidden.

He read the book for 2 hours, then got up to start practicing after summoning spectral body. He did all the past steps, right up to the release. He made sure his bow arm was staying horizontal, and not dropping down. He made sure that his draw hand had no 'Visible Openings' and was close to his cheek/neck. He released and made sure to follow through, whilst making sure his hand was as steady as possible.

The bow hit the bottom middle of the target from 30 meters away. Then, for the next couple of hours, he just practiced following through and keeping his hand steady.

After doing this, he decided to test his skills. Something else he found out about the training room, which he thought was interesting, was that his mana recovery speed was tripled, making it a lot easier to try skills and what-not.

The first thing he did was try the new skill, Ice Arrow. He summoned the ice arrow and drew then released the arrow. It flew towards the target, leaving behind it a trail of snowflakes. The moment it hit the target, the entire thing was covered in ice, frozen all the way around.

'Well... That won't work well with Fire Arrow, but this should be super good for some combos...'

He also then decided to try using arrow cloning on his fire/ice arrow.

He summoned the Ice arrow, drew it, then released it. The moment it was in the air, he cast 'Arrow Clone' and summoned 2 more arrows. Sure enough, it worked. The sole difference was the price. It cost the same amount of mana per arrow as a regular ice arrow.

Next, he decided to try and use teleportation on the flame arrow, once his mana recovered. He also decided to try using teleport on 1 arrow 2 times.

Summoning a fire arrow, he drew back the arrow and released. The arrow flew through the air, a flame trail behind it. Halfway into its arch, Basmon teleported it to the side by 4 meters. Sure enough, it worked with no extra cost. Then, he tried teleporting it back to the original X value.

The arrow moved back over 4 meters... But known only to Basmon, it had cost him 40 mana to do that teleport. It seems the more times you teleport one arrow, the more it cost. That makes sense, however, as how overpowered would it be if an arrow just teleported around someone constantly.

Finally, he decided to try and use the other skill he had, Arrow Bounce. After regenerating his mana, he decided he would try using that in combination with his other skills.

After an hour, with his mana at max, Basmon summoned a fire arrow. He was ready to test his skill 'Arrow Bounce'.
