XLVI: Fenrir.

As the sun rose over the horizon, everyone was ready for the last fight in this damned place; the night before, there had been a meeting where everyone could speak freely... I would write that if it weren't for the fact that everyone who fought ignored those who didn't, as if the previous fight and their lack of participation had robbed them of the right to even suggest anything.

Of course, there were complaints, but from the happy face Damien had as he held a glowing orb of light, it was clear that the complaints were quickly resolved. There were now only 30 participants left in this game, the product of a rather bored and lonely Reality Manipulator's quest for entertainment and love.

Fenrir rested in a crater on the Dark Side of the Moon, and the battle was not to go beyond that boundary, lest the ravages of the Wolf Devourer of Worlds be brought to more places. According to some reincarnates with remote sensing abilities, the creature appeared to be resting near some sort of space rift, possibly a passageway to another world, one different from the wolf's.

This caused some excitement and fear, it seems that the organizers of the show had plans for the future, and there will probably be a lot of chaos in the future, but it is in chaos that opportunities arise. But they were not concentrating on that now, they had an annoying dog to kill, they would think about the situation in the world on the other side of the space rift later.

Although the awkwardness between Seone and Damien made the situation a bit difficult, the meeting was able to be conducted in a productive and organized manner, with various strategies being implemented depending on the situations that might arise during the fight. Nobody wanted a "Leroy Jenkins" at such a crucial time as this, so while not everything was covered, the most serious things that could arise were.

By the way, the guy who can summon chickens from The Legend of Zelda met Thor, and the two of them got along quite well, plus the summoner was designated as one of the "vital" members of the team, one they were supposed to protect and prevent from dying because of the incredible support he can give everyone, literally giving them several extra lives. So Thor was responsible for keeping him alive in case he attracted Fenrir's hatred.

...

"I never expected to raid in real life, look Mom, playing WoW has served me well in the end~" a seemingly little girl with blonde hair, whose body floated instead of walking, happily celebrated her achievements in magic. Although she was one of those who wanted to avoid the battle the day before, it wasn't because she was weak, but because of her kind personality.

Her name was Nora, and her golden finger was the stencil of Mavis, the first president of the Fairy Tail Mage Guild. She had felt that the previous fight between Seone and Damian was nonsense and just the innate need of men to show off, something she was a little upset about.

As everyone walked along a path that led them to Fenrir's lair, a man with a thin appearance, narrow eyes, and a calm temperament made a few hand gestures that caused a small burst of light orbs to form a lute.

The lute glowed with green light, and when he plucked the strings to begin his song, fluorescent sound waves emanated from his body and covered everyone present, who did not object because they already knew who the musician was. He was a magical minstrel, someone who used both music and magic to compose and play songs with different effects, which were very variable.

His name was Theodore, and he had been given the responsibility of 'lifting' morale with his amazing songs, the latter in his own words, for he was very proud of his talent. The music began and everyone could feel any physical or mental fatigue they might have had disappearing with the sound of the melodies and his singing.

You could see the lyrics flying around him, the notes dancing, and you could even see certain phantom images associated with the singing. His songs ranged from any subject and the vibe was changeable, he could play any genre of music he wanted, he could mimic any instrument in existence and even, strangely enough, what you experienced when you saw or heard was entirely up to you.

This created a somewhat festive atmosphere, but as they approached Fenrir's resting place, even Theodore's good music could not free them from the terrible feeling of fear and heaviness that this being radiated. Even if they had not seen him yet, his mere breathing created a kind of field around him that would weaken anyone's will.

"Damn, is this feeling something a wounded dog can produce?" complained Damien, shaking his head a bit, even though he couldn't quite stand Fenrir's innate aura.

"Remember, according to the myths, Fenrir is not only a Jotun, but he is also the embodiment of the literal ultimate destiny of an entire mythology. He was born to devour the world, to murder Odin, and to die in Ragnarok, but this Fenrir did not die? do you know what that means, vampire?" asked Seone with a hint of mockery in his tone, though he also felt very uncomfortable.

"A being of such magnitude has freed itself from its inherent destiny, and being capable of doing so, whether by its strength or luck, is a terrible existence, even if it is as simple and weak as a chicken," Seone answered himself, though his voice was heard by all, making many feel uncomfortable.

Seone spent a lot of time with Axel, John, and Ron, which gave him certain ideas about hunting, archery, magic, and fortune telling, the latter being a subject Seone was very interested in because with fire one could do a sort of crude fortune telling, so he wanted to prepare himself.

It was Ron who taught him a few things about the concept of 'fate', something that is illusory to many, but to a powerful or skilled person, especially a diviner, fate is something real and even 'tangible'. The powerful often have vague feelings about fate, and a psychic can see the lines that represent it and influence them with their abilities.

One concept Ron explained to him was the 'chains of fate', a kind of shackle that all beings possess and which is almost impossible to escape. A hunter of dark creatures can never truly ally with one, and vice versa, because of the chains of fate. Sure, there may be cooperation, but in essence, there will never be a true partnership, as you are destined to be each other's enemy.

You may feel uncomfortable, but destiny permeates everything and everyone, and we usually don't pay attention to it, besides, destiny is not as "rigid" as many stories make it out to be, and even, it is one's self who creates or destroys destiny while living.

Remember, creating or destroying destiny does not mean controlling it or breaking its chains; the chains are more like a basic 'rule', a higher purpose, and it is usually removed when it is fulfilled.

So when Seone learned that a version of the quintessential dire wolf had survived Ragnarok and made it to this world, he was surprised; Fenrir's destiny was to die at the hands of a son of Odin, but apparently, this one was able to break that unfortunate end for some reason.

As Seone explained this concept to the others, everyone's guard rose in their hearts, even Damian's red eyes looked at the lunar crater in the distance with much more seriousness, but there was still a hint of emotion in them.

Even with the bad feelings they felt, many of them had a look of excitement in their eyes; it wasn't every day that one would join a group of people and lay siege to such a well-known mythological being, even if it was a wounded version of it.

When they reached the edge of the crater and looked down, they were surprised by the sight before them. They knew Fenrir was huge, but to see this hulking gray wolf sleeping with dried blood on his body made even Alice, the tallest of the group, look like a mere ant in front of him.

Fenrir was incredibly tall, even when lying on the ground, and in addition to the exaggerated length of his body, everything about him gave off a feeling of insignificance. His breathing was steady, but it was as strong as the wind of a hurricane, his huge paws had bloody claws, and his gray fur covered in blood was somewhat fluffy, if he was a normal puppy, one would want to hug him, but with his huge size, no one would dare do anything stupid.

"That... Is that Fenrir?" asked Jane in a low voice, as if she was afraid her voice would wake the huge creature that was resting peacefully.

"Even if you see pictures of him, you can't get an idea of how big he is unless you're in his presence, damn, he's awfully big the bastard," Morin complained, the swordsman put his hand on the hilt of his sword and tensed his muscles, he couldn't just relax in front of this.

Yun, who had always had his eyes closed because of sleep, now looked at the sleeping giant, it seemed that casualties would be inevitable, he just hoped that he wouldn't be part of that unfortunate number.

They all watched as the space around the wolf distorted, especially at its snout, where the space seemed to be filled with whitish cracks that were constantly flickering, this was the visual representation of its ability to devour the world.

Near Fenrir, there was a great space rift, like a huge scar in the fabric of space, only darkness could be seen, but if you were sensitive, you could sense the incompatibility with the world, as if there was something otherworldly behind it.

This was the passage to another world discovered by the explorers, probably something the organizers of the show had invented, and the dense space aura might have attracted the wolf due to its space-related nature.

Without wasting any more time, Seone looked at the reincarnate near him, then drew his sword and held it in front of him with both hands. Crimson vitality surged out of his body, covering him tightly and extending toward his sword. Behind him, the image of a black serpent with golden rings and red eyes appeared, glancing at Damien for a moment before turning its attention to Fenrir, who seemed to be awakening.

"We have already worked out strategies for this fight, we just need to kill this super-evolved dog and we can get out of here. Many are afraid, there is no shame in feeling it, especially in front of a creature like Fenrir, but if we fight together we can survive... so cut the monsters and tear the horrors apart!" Seone shouted Belmont's bloody motto at the end, kicking off his attack.

Seone shot out at the big wolf as he began to rise, his brown eyes meeting Fenrir's golden ones, and suddenly there was an understanding between them: "Fight to the death. Seone laughed uncontrollably as he pumped more vitality into his sword, compacting it even more.

"Second Sword: Encircle," Seone said, leaping into the air to meet the paw that Fenrir aimed at him.

Perhaps this action of Seone's would have been reckless at another time, but today? he had a great team behind him to help him execute this terrible wolf. Dense, fleshy tentacles covered Fenrir's leg, slowing his attack considerably and allowing Seone to create a platform of life force beneath his feet.

"Double leap," Seone said with renewed vigor, overtaking Fenrir's outstretched leg and heading for his shoulder, slashing mercilessly at his sword.

"I never expected to get help from a vampire," Seone whispered as Fenrir's blood splattered across his face.

His sword technique was designed to cut whatever was put in front of it, so her attack not only opened a wound in Fenrir's thick skin but also removed hair. And though the difference in size meant that his attack was only a 'scratch' to Fenrir, the wolf let out a whimper of pain.

"Time to put you to sleep, a stray dog," Seone taunted, jumping off the wolf's body and falling in front of Jane, Katiuska, and Morin.

As if he understood the insult... well, of course he did, Fenrir is an intelligent being and even, he can talk. The wolf bit mercilessly at the tentacles that hindered him and looked at the ants in front of him, even if he was hurt, the pride he possessed couldn't be beaten like that.

"I will enjoy eating their bodies," Fenrir growled, his voice a bit tender, as if he was still a puppy, but the coldness in his tone was capable of freezing anyone's blood.

Thus began the battle to finish the unfinished business of Ragnarok.
