The Truck Driver

"You look alright," Jingfei said in a shocked tone.

"Why, did you expect me to get hurt?" Ying Yue said while getting up from the chair. She looked into Jingfei's eyes.

'Damn this lucky bitch. '

But on the outside, she gave an innocent smile and said," How is that possible? I'm so glad that you are alright."

'We will see how long you can be so lucky?' Jingfei thought.

Ying Yue was going to say something when Xiu Ying came and cut her off.

"Oh, Jingfei you are here. Thank you for rushing over when I called you."

But on the outside, she gave a weak smile and said, "it's ok. I will go with you."

"Excuse me, officer, where is the truck driver who hit a car while drunk?" asked Xiu Ying to the first officer she met inside the station.

"He's sitting there. He will soon be released. He accepted his crime and is repenting. He also agreed to compensation. And he is a first-time offender. So they will release him soon."

Ying Yue rushed to the table where that officer pointed.

There in front of the table, a fat, grubby-looking man probably in his 40s was sitting.

'Never thought I would meet him again.'

Xiu Ying rushed behind her.

As soon as the officer saw Xiu Ying, he stood up and bowed. Obviously, they are a well-known and respected family.

"Is he the drunk truck driver?" Xiu Ying asked pointing towards that grubby-looking man.

"Yes, madam. We are gonna release him soon."

"Before releasing him, make sure he apologizes to Mr. Wu and his family."

"Wait" Ying Yue finally spoke.

"Officer, did you check the CCTV footage?"

"There is no need for that Young Miss. It is a very clear drunk driving case."

"Are you sure it was not an intentional accident?''

"What are you saying, Ying Yue? How is that possible?" Jingfei spoke up before anyone else could.

"She is right Young Miss. Why would someone want to kill your driver?"

"Not our driver. We were supposed to return in that car. But we didn't. Maybe that's why we got saved. Anyway, you should bring the CCTV footage right now so that I can also see it."

The officer was a little confused so he looked at Xiu Ying. Xiu Ying nodded.

Within half an hour, the officer brought the CCTV footage of the junction where the accident took place.

While the officer was getting it ready to play, Ying Yue looked at Jingfei.

The closest ones to the screen were Ying Yue and the officer. The video started playing.

In the video, it showed the truck was not in sync from the beginning. Then the car appeared in front of it and the truck hit the back seat of the car. A crowd started forming. After a few minutes, the truck driver came out and someone among the crowd called the ambulance and the police.

"See, Young Miss. I told you that it was an accident. It was not intentional."

"Rewind the video when the car meets with the accident. Now pause," she said it as soon as the truck hit the car.

"Zoom into the front glass of the truck." The officer zoomed. It was seen that the truck driver was drinking something.

"How many bottles of wine did you find in the truck?" asked Ying Yue.

"Two bottles one was intact and another was half drunk."

"In this video, we can clearly see that after the accident he drank a bottle. If the other bottle is intact that can only mean that he drunk the first bottle after the accident. That means it is not drunk and drives case instead it was meant to hit the car."

"It was her. She ordered me to do it." the truck driver screamed out pointing at Jingfei.

"No, he is lying. I never even saw him before," said Jingfei.

"Of course, he is," said Ying Yue.

"Officer takes him away and beat him as long as he doesn't say the name of the person who did it," said Xiu Ying.

"Yes madam. Sorry, Young Miss for our wrong investigation."

"I'm telling the truth. This miss here told me that if I hit the car she will pay for my kids' school fees and also give me a handsome sum of money."

" That's enough, you bastard. Now tell the rest of your story inside the cell." saying this the police officer dragged the driver inside one of the cells.

"Are you okay, Jingfei? You must have been stunned just now when he took your name."

"Mom, I'm ok. You trust me, mom, right?"

"Of course. I know you are not capable of doing something this horrible."

"Thank you Ying Yue for standing up for me."
