It's currently just me and Hikari sitting inside the police car while the house is being searched.
I close my eyes to think.
"Master..." A gentle voice rings out in my mind making me lose my composure for a second.
'It's my blood servant... how can she communicate directly in my mind?' I think after hearing her voice before she speaks once more.
"It's my blood possession ability... Master." The gentle voice says.
'She can hear my thoughts?'
"Could you tell me how this blood possession ability works?"
I ask to the voice in my mind.
"Mn... I can possess bodies in my blood form and have free control over their body..."
"So does that mean you can control me?" I ask curiously not worried about her taking advantage because blood servants are completely loyal to the one who offered a piece of their soul.
"Mn..." She says in my mind.
"Can you control my speech too?" I ask.
"Yes Master... is there anything you want me to do?" I hear the girl say with a hint of excitement in her voice.
A plan flashes in my mind bringing a smile to my face.
"Yes, there is, but the one you possess won't be me."
"Now listen carefully."
"Mn."
...
I look towards Hikari who is too busy crying to notice me.
I grab her shoulder making her look up to see my face before pulling her towards me.
—(A couple days later)—
'It's been busy the last few days.' I think to myself while putting on my plain black attire to prepare for the funeral today.
Since that incident all kinds of people have been coming over to our house relatives, our parents colleagues and even somebody to talk about inheritance.
'Let's get this funeral over with.' I say inwardly while going downstairs to see my sister.
Hikari looks at me with slightly bloodshot eyes after noticing me.
'She must have been crying all night...'
She just lost both her parents so of course she would.
I can sense a slight suspicious look in those eyes I think she suspects me of knowing that girl since we both drink blood in the same way.
She had drawn a connection between us in her mind.
'But she won't be able to do anything about it.' I think while remembering what I did.
I think back to a few days ago.
The police had asked both of us questions about the murderer since we were both witnesses.
"Hikari could you tell us what happened from the start?" A female officer says while giving a reassuring smile to comfort her.
When Hikari was asked about it I could already predict what would happen as I watched on with interest.
Hikari looks as if she is thinking about what to say but before she can even formulate an answer her mouth opens to say...
"No officer... I didn't see anything... I was in my room when it happened..."
"Is that so..." The women says before looking down at her notebook to write.
Hikari turns to look at me with confusion while slightly trembling she opens her mouth to say something but nothing comes out... not like I will let her say anything.
I respond with a knowing smile causing her to look as if she has seen a ghost.
Looking up from her notebook the officer asks..
"Saito, what about you could you answer our question?"
"Yes officer..."
Hearing the female officer turn her attention to me I say that while looking down.
"Did you see what the suspect looked like?" Asked the female officer with her pen and notebook ready to record what I say.
"No... it was too dark I couldn't see who it was... my memory of it isn't that good either." I say adding a sad tone to my voice.
"Is that so..." The officer falls into contemplation she puts away her pen and notebook before standing.
She pulls hs both into an embrace and says...
"Don't worry we will find who did this."
I inwardly smirk at her statement, She would never find the culprit.
'Of course she wouldn't.'
"Now wait here I need to do something, I'll take you both to the police station when I come back... a relative should be waiting to pick you up from there."
She says before walking back into our house leaving us next to the police car.
While walking Hikari steals glances at me while placing a hand on her neck a fustrated expression on her face.
"Saito did you do something to me? I couldn't speak."
She asks glaring at me with anger mixed with confusion in her voice.
I nonchalantly respond...
"Just some insurance. I don't need you saying anything out of line."
Hearing my careless response she grows angry and says in a raised voice...
"Y-You lied about that girl... she killed mom and dad! why didn't you tell her the truth!"
"Sometimes the truth can be dangerous... I decided not to tell her because this is what's best for us."
I spout some lies to her.
"T-That girl she was just like you... she had the same eyes... do you know who she is?"
Hikari adds after contemplating on what I said.
I simply ignore her and turn away.
She grows angrier at this causing me to think... she has always been a timid girl who couldn't stand up to me since we first met, when did she get the courage to stand up to me?
"Don't bother trying to tell anyone... you should know that won't work. Be a good little sister Hikari."
I say while looking at our house in the distance where the female officer from before is now on her way back.
"I'm back, don't worry kids, my superior just told me your aunt is waiting for you at the police station."
She escorts us into the police car before driving off down the road leaving our house off in the distance.
I look to my right to see Hikari looking down her petite hands balled tightly into fists.
'Does she want revenge?'
That won't happen I think to myself as I close my eyes and think on what to do next while waiting to reach our destination.
'I need to think on what to do with my blo-'
I cant keep calling her that forever maybe I should give her a name?
I'm not good at giving names though I'll think about that later.
I think as I lean my head against the window.
...
"Poor kids losing their parents at such a young age." The female officer says in her mind as she glances at the rear view mirror catching a glimpse of two children a boy with white hair currently laying his head on the window looking sad and a girl with black shoulder length hair who is looking down in frustration.
"I hope they can overcome this situation."
Remembering the serious expression in the girls eyes the woman thinks...
'They are lucky to survive... I hope they don't try anything dangerous.'
*Sigh*
'I hope they can find happiness.'
