As soon as Robert finished speaking, Dorothy, who had been standing nearby, lifted her chin proudly and shouted, "I knew it! Eclipse is a shameless liar! She was just angry that Jessica's mom married Mr. Rocelyn, so she used dirty tricks to steal my brother. She doesn't even like him! She's only using him to get back at Jessica. She's nothing but a cruel, evil woman—"
"Shut up!" Robert snapped, his face pale with anger.
He could lie about many things, but he couldn't deny Eclipse's feelings for him.
Already feeling guilty, Robert couldn't bear listening to his sister's baseless accusations against Eclipse anymore.
Eclipse stayed silent, her face calm as her breathing became uneven. She placed her hand over her heart again, as if trying to calm herself.
