I, my jaw clenched, finally reached my limit. "Enough!" I declared, my voice firm and unwavering. "I am under no obligation to answer your questions."
Danzo, his frustration evident in the gnashing of his teeth, was about to retort when Hiruzen intervened. "Sasuke," the Hokage stated calmly, "answering Danzo's question would be prudent. Leaving it unanswered will only breed doubt and suspicion."
I, sensing the shift in the room, decided to address Danzo directly. "Lord Danzo," I began, my voice calm yet assertive, "I understand you may harbor personal differences with the Uchiha clan. However, I urge you to separate those feelings from your judgment. You hold a position of high authority, and with that comes the responsibility to act with decorum."
Inoichi, confirming the truth of Sasuke's statement, simply said, "True!"
A wave of surprise rippled through the room as everyone thought that as Inoichi's agreement. But after Inoichi's explanation everyone understood Inoichi's confirmation to be in reference to Sasuke's claim about Danzo's personal bias.
Sasuke continued, his voice unwavering, "To answer your question definitively, No, I was not under any genjutsu few moments ago."
However, I took some time to answer the question. This delay was of course intentional, ensuring my response remained truthful. Or maybe it is possible that I can keep clam while lying or saying half truth because of my brain having previous life experience.
Hiruzen, sensing the lingering doubt, addressed Danzo once more. "Danzo, any further questions?"
Danzo, his face a mask of conflicting emotions, turned his gaze towards Hiashi, the Hyuga clan head. "Lord Hiashi, is what the Uchiha boy said regarding the Sage's brother founding your clan accurate?"
Hiashi met my gaze, a silent acknowledgment passing between us. My heart pounded in my chest, the weight of the moment heavy on me.
"Yes," Hiashi confirmed, his voice steady. "It is true. The Sage of Six Paths indeed had two sons. However, the information regarding one of them being the founder of the Uchiha Clan was previously unknown to me."
The confirmation from Hiashi washed over me like a wave of relief.
Looks like he really read the information I give to Hinata about their past before coming here. That scroll contain the name of founder, byakugan final form and about the relatives on moon and that if you take their physical energy and take the spiritual energy or eyes of earth clan members you can somewhat achieve the founders power. And the last thing a prophecy about Byakugan princess, without the real identity of course.
Danzo, his jaw clenched, muttered, "I don't have any objections, though I still maintain my belief that this is nothing but fabricated information."
Hiruzen, his gaze sweeping the room, addressed the council. "Very well. Danzo's dissent has been noted. Does anyone else present wish to express opposition or have further questions before we proceed?"
Shikaku, his ever-observant gaze fixed on Sasuke, spoke up. "I have a question that's been bothering me for a while now." he said, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
My neck cracked audibly as I whipped his head around to face Shikaku, his Sharingan blazing with a mix of apprehension and annoyance. This felt like a betrayal, even if I knew it was irrational.
Shikaku, unfazed by the sudden display, held up a placating hand. "Troublesome. Relax, Sasuke. It's just a question. I was wondering, what happened to the younger brother? What became of him?"
I released a shaky breath, relief flooding back into my system. "Oh, the younger brother," I confirmed, "founded the Senju and Uzumaki clans."
A renewed wave of murmurs rippled through the room. Danzo, his voice laced with disbelief, interjected, "That's impossible! The Senju and Uchiha were sworn enemies!"
This was a tricky situation. I needed to tread carefully, balancing fabricated details with a semblance of truth. I took a deep breath and spoke.
"It's not that simple," I explained. "As children, the two brothers were incredibly close. However, as they grew older, a sense of competition grew between them, eventually morphing into rivalry. This rivalry continued even after they established their respective clans."
I continued, weaving a narrative of how the initial competition and sibling rivalry between the brothers eventually festered into centuries of animosity between their clans. I explained how clans forgot of the connections and minor conflicts over time had fueled bitterness and a constant need to prove one clan superior to the other, ultimately leading to them becoming enemies. And after some deaths, it leads to them becoming sworn enemies.
Inoichi, ever the neutral observer, confirmed, "True!"
Danzo, however, remained unconvinced. "But why is there no record of this in either the Senju or Uzumaki clan archives?" he demanded, his voice tight with suspicion.
I met his gaze unflinchingly. "There's no official answer for that." I admitted. "However, I do have my own theory. Based on what I know of Ashura, he was someone with a carefree personality and somewhat clumsy. Preserving the information wouldn't have been a priority for him. Perhaps he relied on his brother or father to document the history, but neither of them took action. Sage has already trusted his son to take care of the future. And I already told what Indra do and why he did."
I added, "We know the Senju and Uzumaki clans are related, which aligns with what I've revealed."
Inoichi once again confirmed, "True!"
Danzo seemed speechless, unable to counter my explanation.
Hiashi, however, had another question. "Lord Sage possessed the Rinnegan." he began, "But if Lord Indra inherited his Dojutsu, why don't the Uchiha possess the Rinnegan?"
Couldn't he ask his question outside the meeting?
I sighed, feeling his patience wearing thin. "The Rinnegan," I explained, "is the evolved form of the Sharingan. It progresses from Sharingan to Mangekyo Sharingan and finally to Rinnegan. Before you interrupt, Lord Danzo," he added, anticipating the elder's outburst, "There is a reason why Mangekyo Sharingan unique abilities can be anything which seems impossible and differ based on the user's situation and needs. It's the stepping stone to the Rinnegan."
I continued, "No Uchiha has achieved the Rinnegan because they simply haven't lived long enough, or those who did live lengthy lives became too weak to fight and unlock its potential. Indra, as the Sage's direct descendant, sure had possessed the Rinnegan in his later years."
Inoichi confirmed once more, "True!"
A collective gasp rippled through the room, the weight of this revelation settling in.
Shikaku, however, remained curious. "Why did you choose to withhold the information about the Sharingan being the precursor to the Rinnegan?" he inquired.
My gaze hardened. "As the last Uchiha," I declared, his voice laced with a hint of defiance, "why would I expose myself in further danger and tell everyone If someone were to kidnap me, they could potentially unlock the Rinnegan?"
Inoichi, remaining neutral, simply confirmed, "True!"
Hiruzen looked around the room, seeking further objections or questions. Danzo, his jaw clenched, finally spoke.
"One last question," he stated, his voice tight with contained anger. Sasuke's Sharingan flared involuntarily, but Danzo ignored it.
"Are you holding back any other information about them?"
I, my voice laced with irritation, replied, "Yes."
Danzo's voice boomed, "Tell us then!"
My voice, laced with frustration, cut through the tense silence. "If I'm not sharing something, it's because it's not information to be casually disclosed." Inoichi, his voice devoid of judgment, confirmed, "True!"
Hiruzen, the Hokage, recognized the rising tension and intervened. "Sasuke," he began, his tone firm yet gentle, "it would be best if you revealed everything you know."
I met the Hokage's gaze, a mix of defiance and exhaustion swirling in my eyes. "What's the point of asking and telling if you all won't believe it anyway?" I challenged. "It's not like you'll readily update the historical records after every detail I provide. You're questioning me on everything, and I'm revealing sensitive clan information. If you're not prepared to accept and corroborate what I say, I decline to participate further."
Shikaku, ever the strategist, spoke up, siding with me. "I agree, Lord Hokage. We need to be reasonable with our expectations."
A murmur of agreement rippled through the room. The elders exchanged glances, their faces etched with contemplation. They had a crucial decision to make: either press Sasuke for the remaining information and risk losing his cooperation, or trust him enough to accept what he had already revealed and initiate their own verification process.
Hiruzen, after a brief discussion with the council, finally addressed the room. "Danzo and the others have conceded," he announced. "Please share the information you're comfortable disclosing, and we will work on verifying and adding it to the historical records."
I nodded in begrudging acceptance. I knew withholding crucial information wouldn't serve his goals in the long run. However, I couldn't fully trust the council to handle everything I knew with the necessary discretion.
(Done! Have a great Day/Night!)
