Madame Jiang took Zuo Xiangning to the Chu King's Mansion and showed Zuo Xiangrong the list of potential brides she had selected for Zuo Zixi.
"Your father swapped out the first three candidates for the last three," Madame Jiang said. "Sisters, which young lady do you think is better?"
As Zuo Xiangrong handed the list to Zuo Xiangning, she said, "Ningning, which one do you like? You might have to visit home often in the future, so choose someone you think is agreeable and can get along with."
"Choosing a bride for big brother has to suit his taste," Zuo Xiangning laughed. "I think big brother would probably prefer someone more composed. If she's too lively, I'm afraid she might give big brother a headache with her noise."
"But if both of them are too sedate, wouldn't that be too quiet?" Madame Jiang worriedly said. "It's not good if they have nothing to talk about together."
