"If you can't stay by my side, then what's the point in keeping my life."

"For me not having you is the greatest punishment the heavens could offer."

"I love you very much. But I am not so strong to let you go. That's why I choose to give up my life. Don't blame yourself for it. I wish you more and more happiness in your life."

Jiang Qiru gasps as soon as he opened his eyes to a bleak darkness he had forgotten for so many years. He brought his hands up to foddle his eyes which had just been helping him to perceive the beautiful world that was once in front of him. He never thought that he would go back to those days where life was just bleak, darkness day in and night. He could not see what was in front of him, or even recognize what his family looked like. It was hard surving those days. And he was once more dunked in that abyss.

Those words he had woken up to made his world crumble. He had lost his most important person. The one who was lucky enough to be the last image in his eyes. However, what's the point now when he was no longer by his side. Lucky enough the heavens have granted him a second chance and he was going to use it wisely.

He felt around with his hands, coming in contact with the soft quilts and hard wooden bed. Jiang Qiru could still remember his room like it was yesterday. So it wasn't difficult for him to walk without bumping into things. He got off the bed in the way grabbing some of the bed curtains tied on the wooden poles. After getting up the young man took a few steps towards the door before calling for his servant to inquire about a few things.

His jet black hair bounced back and forth as he walked, his pristine white robes swaying with swishing sounds. Although it didn't bother him too much, he still wanted the sounds to stop. It was affecting his sensitive ears quite a bit. But there was nothing he could do. The eyes which were supposed to be his aid were covered with a very thin white cloth. Hiding them from everyone else, or perhaps informing everyone around him about his situation.

When he was at the door he pushed it open and took his right foot out, a white boot with simple designs coming in contact with the flat veranda first.

Not faraway from his house, a little boy of about ten years old, with neat brown hair tied back and a poor quality green robe on his small frame, was busy arranging some dishes on the sitting area under a peach tree. He was humming lightly feeling very happy to be by his young master's side for another day. When he heard the door open, a wide smile surfaced on his adorable face, his emerald eyes shining, before rushing towards it wanting to serve his master.

"Young master, you are awake. Let me accompany you to your seat. I have made some light food for you." Jiang Qiru only smiled after hearing the familiar hyper voice. He had missed it quite a lot. It's a pity that this little boy was caught up in his mess and died young but this time he wasn't going to let it happen.

"DouDou, you are still as loud as ever. Thank you." He thanked him while taking a sit on a wooden stool. The little boy shyly hummed and started working, putting all his young master's favourite food in his bowl.

Jiang Qiru grabbed some chopsticks on his own and took the bowl with another hand. He started eating slowly, his mind wandering back to the reason why he was back ten years earlier.

"Don't do this, Jiang Qiru!" A young man shouted while crying miserably wishing for his loved one to change his mind. He had tried everything in his power to stop him, he even threatened with his life but when he thought that Jiang Qiru was about to give in, he was proved wrong. His heart felt suffocated.

"You know I can't live without you, please." He begged while grabbing his hand, tears continuously flowing on his cheeks.

"No...No."

Jiang Qiru watched as the other man cried, more tears flowing, the rim of his eyes getting redder and redder by each minute. He was also suppressing his own tears but he couldn't change his decision. Although he knew that it was hurting them both he had to do it.

He looked at his love taking in his striking features wanting to embed them in his memories. He did not have the privilege of caressing him but it was enough just looking at him before being on his way.

"I love you, Kian. I love you so much. But you know we can't be together. We lost that chance years ago. Don't make this hard for me. I..I." He found his voice breaking, it was too much, his heart quivered with so much pain.

"Just why is the world so unfair to us." He thought while turning away from the man on the bed. He was afraid that his heart would be swayed. His feet started walking away, step by step till there was a distance between them.

But before he could open the door and get far away, he heard a clicking sound of metal hitting the ground. His heart thundered as he turned around hoping that all he was seeing was a nightmare.

"No..No." He cried while rushing to the bed in an instant. What he found was a bloody Kian smiling beautifully at him. His neck was leaking with a crimson substance his eyes dimming with each minute.

"If... yo..u can't.. stay by my si..de, then wha..t's the point in ke..epi..ng my life." He whispered while trying hard to force his words out of his mouth.

"For me not havi...ng you is the great..est pun..ish..ment the hea..vens have be..sto..wed on me."

Jiang Qiru didn't catch all the words for he was a crying mess, he clutched gently on his neck wanting to stop the blood but it was too late. He wailed loudly while holding his cold body. When the pain in his heart escalated and he did not know how to ease it, he grabbed his hair and started pulling it feeling empty and numb.

Then his light blue eyes landed on the knife on the floor. The smudges of his beloved's blood was still on the blade as if tempting him to take it. He fell close to it and grabbed it. He hurried to sit on the bed and looked at his love before stabbing himself on the heart. He didn't wince at all. He fell on top of him and closed his eyes.

"If we meet again in the next life, I will surely hold on tight to you. Give you all the love you deserve." Jiang Qiru murmured these words in his heart before blacking out never to wake.

"M..as..ter... master!" He was brought out of his thoughts by his little servant who was now beside him patting his shoulder. He turned in his direction and offered him a small smile and reassuring him that he was fine.

DouDou didn't believe him but he could only accept such an answer.

His master got back to eat. But he didn't forget to chant this promise repeatedly in his mind, "I will hold on tight to you this time."
