The rescue of Elysia's aunt

Mortis helped Elysia climb onto Nightshade. Although she seemed very angry, she also seemed depressed. When Mortis turned around and saw the disappointed and intimidated women, he decided to send 20 spirits to watch over them until they reached the next town. After that, the spirits were to return to him. He also summoned the Cyclops spirits with the help of the great bear to bring the bodies of the Cyclops to the border. Although it was a macabre idea to have the souls drag their own corpses, he had no choice. These bodies were a wealth of prime materials that his women could put to good use. He then remounted Nightshade and headed further north to Verona.

After defeating a few more magical beasts and small monsters, they made it out of the great forest, and the road was not too far. Finally, Mortis and Elysia reached Verona at dusk. However, Elysia suddenly turned pale without Mortis noticing. Nevertheless, she did not let go of him and continued to follow him. When the guards of the city saw Nightshade, they initially wanted to close the gates and sound the alarm. But when they realized that two people were riding on this big dog, they calmed down. Nevertheless, they tried to stop Mortis. Mortis would have loved to charge at them, but it seemed that the soldiers were nervous and in a state of emergency. He got off Nightshade to introduce himself and ask to be let in. The highest ranking soldier took Mortis to see if he was credible - which wasn't exactly hard with Mortis. So he was about to pass when another soldier suspiciously asked who was the second person hiding behind a black cloak. Mortis was puzzled as to why Elysia was suddenly wearing that cloak, but would not reveal it. He explained that it was one of his wives and that she preferred to remain concealed out of shyness. The senior soldier nodded in understanding and let her pass. Many soldiers tried to catch a glimpse of the woman riding with them on the big dog, but they could only guess how beautiful she must be.

In the city, Mortis followed the map to get to Leroy and Casanova. To his surprise, they were not in an inn, but in a rather large house in the middle of the market. Just as Mortis was about to knock, the door slowly opened and Leroy greeted him, recognizing his master.

In the living room, where Mortis and Elysia were seated, Mortis looked around suspiciously and asked Leroy, "Are the inhabitants of this house well?" Leroy replied, "Yes, master. We just siphoned off some of their energy and manipulated them a little. When we leave, they will forget about us, and what happened the last few days, they will spend peacefully sleeping upstairs." Mortis nodded and took note of everything. Just as he was about to get up, Casanova came out of the kitchen with a tray full of food. Mortis was left breathless when he saw the charming Casanova come out of the kitchen wearing an apron. But the food smelled so good that Mortis' and Elysia's stomachs started to growl, so they stayed seated and let the food be dished up. Elysia didn't really know what was going on, but she accepted the food and took off her coat. At this, both the vampire and the incubus were surprised by Elysia's beauty. Although Casanova, as the incubus, embodied lust itself, he didn't dare catch more than a glimpse of the woman before him. Mortis did not emit a single signal of jealousy or anger; on the contrary, he enjoyed the food and was happily surprised at how good it tasted.

After dinner, Mortis suddenly stood up as if he had been stung by a bumblebee and said in a stern voice: "We have to go, get ready, Leroy and Casanova! Now we're off to battle. I've received a few helpless souls again. Every second that passes is a soul that could be saved."

Casanova threw away his apron and got ready with Leroy. Then they ran outside and led Mortis to the edge of town, where a shabby shack stood. Inside the hut, behind the fireplace, they discovered a secret passage with a staircase that led very far down. Elysia wondered how Mortis and his entourage could know about such a place, since it was not part of his realm.

When the stairs ended, they were immediately greeted warmly by cultists made up of humans, beastmen, and monsters. But Mortis had no patience for them and roared at them, "You followers of the evil gods, you will now be eradicated from these catacombs! You can try to resist, but it will only make your deaths all the more painful. Go, my companions, kill everything that does not belong on this continent and has fallen to evil!"

Casanova and Leroy rushed forward, which Elysia found somewhat comical. But when suddenly more than 50 ghosts appeared out of nowhere and followed the servants, she herself turned ghostly pale. After a short time, the alarm bells were replaced by anguished screams. Mortis moved on slowly, looking at the data from his servants. As always, they followed efficiently and made short work of the enemies.

Then, when Mortis found the first prisoners, he found that they had been spared, though they still had the terror in their eyes of seeing ghosts rampaging through the corridors. But Elysia was most shocked when she recognized one of the prisoners and almost went mad. She tried to forcefully break the bars and shouted, "Aunt Rose, Aunt Rose, wait, I'll get you out!" Elysia kicked the grate in anger and slashed with her sword when a soft voice whispered, "Is that you, my little fairies?" Elysia replied, "Yes, Auntie, it's us! Wait, we'll get you out of there!"

Mortis could not watch the spectacle any longer and went to a wall where the key was hanging. Like a normal person, he opened the door before Elysia continued to struggle. Elysia fell around the neck of her aunt, who looked battered and beaten, and they both cried like little children. Mortis couldn't take it any longer and set out to open the more cells to save everyone.

After a few corridors and hundreds of people crammed into cells, Mortis received word that Casanova and Leroy had suffered critical damage. So Mortis made his way to them to see who had managed to stand up to his servants, which he had even perfected. After a few meters, when Mortis reached a room that resembled a dark church, he saw the champion of a dark god. Mortis came closer to look at him more closely when suddenly an axe flew at him, which he just managed to dodge. "Good reflexes, champion Argentum Mortuum. But this is where existence ends for you, my lord, and the others want to get rid of you. That is why I, Gurdalf, was sent to destroy you," said the champion, jumping in front of Mortis.
