Chapter 29- E-ranked Regulars

When the regulars recovered from the teleportation, they realized that they were in some kind of a big arena. Remembering the test director's words, they looked around and saw three people on the other side of the arena.

A yellow-haired boy with a serious face, a calm and good-looking young man, and the most remarkable of them, a gorgeous girl with long white hair, the princess of Zahard.

Since the test director hadn't started the match, they used this opportunity to discuss the battle plan and decided to keep the teams the same to avoid incompatibility in the battle.

After all, some of them have grudges and there wasn't any figure that could make them united among them so they had to work with that.

After five minutes, the horned ranker stood up. "Regulars, as you can see on the opposite of your side, they are the team that you have to face to pass the test. They might not look that dangerous, however, you should know better why we even came up with this test."

"Now, let's begin!" He shouted as a lighthouse floated in the middle of the arena turned on, showing a timer with the number of four minutes, fifty-nine seconds.

Hearing the sign had gone off, Liu Guanyi instantly reacted and moved to the front, meeting against the vanguard fishermen. However, their spear bearers weren't idle as they launched a barrage of spears flying toward him.

Seeing this, Adori suddenly drew her sword and slashed it toward the spears, creating a huge shinsu blast that destroyed all of them in an instant!

The test director was gobsmacked at the display. "Whew, did you see that? What kind of bullshit shinsu control and power she has to make such a powerful attack?! Its power should be around top D-rank regulars, and she hasn't even become an E-ranked regular yet!"

The white-haired Ranker nodded in agreement. "Indeed, such a talent, it's truly an eye-opening experience when we see it directly. If I had her talent, probably I would already have become a High Ranker."

With the spears dealt with, Liu Guanyi finally managed to reach the vanguard and engaged with five fishermen. Dealing with many enemies at once wasn't easy if they were brave enough to sacrifice themselves to open a gap in his defense, even if he was an expert martial artist.

However, Liu Guanyi had improved a lot in these three years not only on the Martial Way but also as a shinsu user. A small bang of shinsu appeared on his side as his punch was blocked by the opposing fisherman.

Without a delay, he shot it at his opponent's face as he was busy blocking his attack, piercing his eye as blood spurted from it.

"Aaaargh!!" He groaned loudly as he was stunned in pain from losing his eyeball.

Liu Guanyi didn't waste this moment and stabbed his fingers into his throat and ripped it off, drenching him in a lot of blood and killing him instantly.

It happened in such a quick moment that the other fishermen could barely react. They rapidly surrounded him again, careful not to rashly fight him one on one to be taken like that as the lighthouses came to support them.

This time, they got Liu Guanyi for good. Being surrounded by many fishermen with the lighthouses that could block, hinder, and slow his movements, it was very incredibly hard.

He almost lost all of his mobility, which meant that he could only defend passively.

Baaang!

The ground trembled as a powerful attack struck and shook the arena. As the dust cleared, broken lighthouses and many fishermen and scouts could be seen sprawled on the ground, either unconscious or even dead with only a single person standing there, the princess.

The small group of wave controllers responded as they created many bangs and shoot them at her. Adori blocked and deflected them all with ease with her sword, showing her graceful swordsmanship as she approached closer to the backline.

"Damn it, why those fishermen are so worthless!? They haven't even finished a single man even with the help of lighthouses, trash! Go, stall the princess! Don't fight her directly, just stall her till we finish the fisherman!" One of the light-bearers shouted loudly as he berated his teammates.

Some of the wave controllers quickly changed to attack Liu Guanyi to bring him down as fast as possible. Seeing that he had a hard time, the light bearer heaved with relief.

Maybe they could still survive for five minutes…

Suddenly, he realized something that he had unconsciously ignored!

"Wait, where is the last one!?" He asked loudly.

"Urgh!" He suddenly felt immense pain coming from his right chest. Looking at it, a needle pierced right through it.

"D-damn it! I-I still want to climb the t-tower." He spoke his last word as he choked in his own blood.

After killing him, Xin quickly moved to another target. Xin was trained personally by Liu Guanyi, however, he didn't teach Xin the usual things that a scout should do, instead, he told and trained him to focus on the killing arts to be able to kill enemies as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Liu Guanyi called this certain role "assassin". He wanted Xin to train further improving his scout skillset to not simply gather intel and support the fishermen, but also to kill enemies from the back or kill them indirectly with poison, any method that could kill with utmost efficiency.

Xin was very surprised when he told him about it because there was no such role as far as he knew, even in his branch family library's record.

However, looking at his martial mastery and powerful strength, maybe there was indeed such a thing somewhere in the outer area. After all the outer area was a vast, unconquered place even by the ten great families.

Xin gratefully accepted his gift and trained hard to not let him down. Such knowledge and arts were extremely precious, he understood that.

Even those killing arts were usually kept among an inner circle and not spread to outsiders, just like the Arie Sword Style or Eurassia Shinsu Control Style.

This meant that Liu Guanyi trusted him by a great amount to teach him his secret techniques to prove himself. To prove that Xin could become an outstanding person in the tower even if his family had abandoned him.

This opportunity that Liu Guanyi had granted to him was priceless. Not only did he save him, but he also gave someone like him a chance to prove himself as Xin, as an individual, not as a member of the ten great families.

For this grace, he would forever be indebted to him and also train with all of his efforts to make sure he wouldn't betray Liu Guanyi's expectations.

'Since that day where Mr. Liu gave me another purpose to climb the tower, I haven't even slacked off a single day from training! I will show them what kind of mistake they have made!' Xin swore in his heart.

Even a weak shinsu control can become something incredibly lethal if used correctly just like how Liu Guanyi did it. I don't know why but only a few people like Jinsung Ha use shinsu as efficient as possible in the canon. Even people like Evankhell, Kallavan, and White aren't really good since they mostly use sheer power to overwhelm their opponent. Maybe because he is a martial master?

However, Baam as Jinsung's disciple, is really disappointing. Even though Floral Butterfly Piercing Technique is a very lethal skill that targets the enemy's weaknesses to kill as efficient as possible, Baam is too much of a softie even to his enemies, making his skill incredibly ineffective as nobody ever die from it.

Anyway, you can easily notice that Liu Guanyi isn't really struggling but merely holding back himself.
