Reaching Out

A boy left all alone in the world after being abandoned by his mother in a poor clan that treated him harshly because he started showing signs of being different from other kids and the people around him. With him being ostracized more and more he became less and less of the cheerful young kid he use to be until eventually turning discreet and mute around others in hopes that they would stop being scared of him. Though that plan never worked out for him and, in the end he was left to strive on his own as best as he could in the environment he was left in. He explored the towns library and any books he could find in his Clan even if they were useless. Years on years of doing such things eventually led him into stumbling across a book that would help push him towards the thing he wanted the most. "The Basic Guide To The Astral Path" This book may not of been special to anyone in the long run but, it was to him because, it was his new beginning. With this new path available to him would he be able to push through all the obstacles and hardships waiting for him or in the end will he stumble and fall? The things he had found after finishing the book turned out to unfortunately mostly useless to him except for a few things. He learned that monsters born and spawned in Astral Zones couldn't leave the area of the zone or else they would die and he also learned that finding Astral Zones by chance was an extremely hard thing to do. It was written that unless you had tons of experience in Astral Zones or studied about them for a long period of time you basically had zero idea whether or not you were in an Astral Zone. Which in turn meant they could literally be anywhere including in front of you which might just end up with people stumbling into one and dying because of such things if not careful.

"Other than that everything else I read was basically useless. Haaa..."

He had spent probably a good hour reading the book to figure things out just to end up being disappointed and wasting what little time they had left. Xelfia hearing his mutter quickly picked up on the situation herself as well.

"Didn't go so well eh?"

"It could have been worse."

"Want to take a break now, we probably don't have much time left anyway."

"Sounds good I guess, I haven't done so much reading in a long time, I forgot how it felt a little bit."

When he was younger he spent days and hours on end reading anything he could find at the time. He had nothing else to do either way and in the end words filled his eyes, mind and time. While he didn't particularly miss those days he couldn't say he wanted to not experience similar things again and today after about a couple years he finally got to do such a thing again. So it was a little nostalgic for him.

"I know you enjoy reading Xilo, but remember you have better and newer things to do now as well."

Xelfia noticing his wandering thoughts attempted to get him more focused and in a better mood and thankfully for her it worked out the way she wanted it to.

"You're right, If I went back to those days you wouldn't be here either."

"You-"

"Time's up, Please leave the Library."

With a bit of a smirk he replied to her. It turns out Xelfia's habit was starting to rub off on him a little. Before she could even say something back to him she was interrupted by a voice in the distance that still sounded just as pleasant as the first time she heard it. Strangely though this time she felt a little upset hearing it. "Maybe because we were interrupted." With that thought she quickly turned around to notice the same cloaked figure standing a little bit further away from them.

Though the thing that ended up bothering her the most was that the cloaked figure was actually able to sneak up on them once again. She couldn't blame Xilo because she knew what level she was on but she would and could blame herself. The first time she saw the cloaked figure she had an inkling of how strong she was and while she wasn't positive she knew the woman was definitely weaker then her. Which brought her to her being upset. "I Didn't sense her approach." Maybe she was being too hard on herself but if it was someone with bad intentions that could have put their lives in danger. "I'll need to practice more."

Funnily enough though her thoughts weren't exactly right. Xilo well being weaker than the both of them had actually picked up on her approach so he wasn't too surprised when she spoke out to them.

"It's time Already?"

"Yes."

"alright we'll be leaving shortly then."

"Good."

With that he watched as the cloaked figure turned around and left in the direction she had come from.

"Looks like time flew by faster then I thought."

"Don't worry we can always come back again like you said."

"You're right, but.."

"What?"

"Didn't she seem a little weird to you?"

From the second he faced her he had always had this slight sense of unease or weirdness but he couldn't quite place his finger on it or why it was showing up. While it was strange that she cloaked herself .It wasn't like people haven't done it in the past or even till this day. Still he couldn't quite figure out where he felt like it was just wrong and that's why he ended up bringing the question up to Xelfia because now with their second encounter he felt it stronger then before.

"Weird you say, Besides the cloak I don't find anything funny about her. Why are you curious about her looks?"

Hearing his curiosity about the cloaked figure Xelfia couldn't help but start teasing Xilo again. It was simply fun for her.

"W-what no, no it's not that. It's just. Fake I guess?"

"Fake?"

"I don't quite know exactly. but I feel like it's just Fake. that's all."

"If you feel like that it could be true, But why does it matter? It's got nothing to do with us right?"

"You're not wrong, it's just bugging me that's all."

While Xelfia was right it didn't mean he could ignore what he felt entirely. But it definitely helped him to get it off his chest. So asking her wasn't pointless either.

"Well we should get going, don't want her coming back."

Snapping out of his thoughts Xilo quickly got up from his seat and hurriedly shoved the book back where he found it while Xelfia sat up to follow him. After that was done they both started walking down the rows of shelves once again to leave the library and look for a place to stay for the night. Well he wasn't the richest man alive he wasn't poor either.

"Hopefully we can find a decent place to sleep tonight."

"Tired of the ground are you, It isn't so bad once you get used to it."

Hearing that Xilo slightly shook his head.

"It's not something I'm happy being used to."

"Well lets try these beds you speak of. I wonder if they are as comfy as you."

Hearing that caused him to pause slightly but he soon collected himself and rushed up to Xelfia again.

Enjoy
