Crouching behind a wall Relia had the three of them follow her to where she had sensed some presence. "It felt weird though." They were very faint and almost undetectable like they were being forcefully hidden from others eyes. Picking up the signal faster than Relia could, Xilo scanned the area as he tried to map it out in his head. "A fairly large building." He could already count a couple hundred people in there and he wasn't done yet. It was a little weird they were all gathered up in the farthest area from the city's entrance but at least they had finally found people.
"I don't think I sense anyone hostile."
"Yeah from the looks of it they seemed to be just gathering there. Nice find, Relia."
"Didn't...do much."
Now that Xilo was sure there was nothing obviously dangerous for them he stopped lurking in the shadows of the buildings and took everyone directly there. He had a couple things he wanted to find out along with Tearia needing to examine them. "Hopefully this will be as easy as I want it to be." Walking down the street he ignored the emptiness of the town as he arrived at a giant building that looked like it was set up in a hurry. There were at least a couple hundred people in there but he couldn't tell for sure.
"Alright I'll go in first."
Stepping forward Xilo watched as a couple guards came out slightly pale to greet him.
"Sorry, we can't let you pass."
"This area is off limits."
"Ahhh we're not strangers. We received your request at Landelt and were sent out here to handle it."
Looking at the four newcomers one man came forward and examined them.
"Just you four? Doesn't seem like that's enough."
"Eh it's more like one, she knows quite a bit of medicine and we're just here to protect her."
Pointing to Tearia behind him, he tried to keep himself steady.
"Besides your words do you have any proof that is physical?"
"Uh....no."
"Then we can't allow you to enter. Right now it's too dangerous for regular people to come in. At least until we solve the issue."
"We're the ones here to help though."
Feeling some pressure drop on him Xilo was in an awkward position.
"I'm glad you feel that way but this isn't how things work. I'm sorry, please leave before we have to resort to force. This is for your own safety as wel-"
Stopping his words in his tracks he saw an old man appear before him bowing.
"Hello sir, we are representing the Dracal Hall and are here to assist you. This should suffice as enough proof right?"
Hearing a new voice beside him so suddenly Xilo turned to see an older man standing beside him carrying a crest of small dragon wings. "Aeon, what, when?" Shocked to see Aeon appear so suddenly he wanted to blurt out a question but was stopped by his gaze. Forced to hold it he watched the guard examine the crest and bow before he let them in. Following Aeon's lead the four of them entered the building. He was quite thankful for Aeon's presence however that didn't explain why he showed up so suddenly.
"Aeon?"
"Save your questions for later boy, this is what happens when you don't think things through. For now we're going to search this building and let Tearia examine some of them to see if she can find a cure. If not, you'll be marked for failure and we'll deal with it accordingly."
Listening to Aeon speak, Xilo had a lot of things he wanted to say in return but he left it alone. Now wasn't the time and he knew Aeon was partially right. Without him showing up when he did they might not have been able to enter this area and that was wasted time which cost people's lives. "Almost stopped before we even began." Sighing, Xilo tried to put it past him as they walked into one of the rooms Aeon led them to. Xilo wasn't sure if Aeon knew where he was going, however he never hesitated in his steps.
"In here. Let me do all the talking and your friend Tearia should start working on examining."
A little confused, they entered a room with a man standing over ten or so people in silence as frustration filled his face. Xilo didn't pay too much attention to it though as he looked at the people stuck in beds. They looked like they were practically dead besides the few shallow breaths they were releasing. "What the." He even detected some bits of Astral energy in some of them but it was rapidly decreasing at an alarming rate that he could see. "It's like their powers are being sucked away from them." Shocked, he quickly went up to one of them as a loud shout entered his ears.
"Do not touch them!"
"Why, what's wrong?"
"I don't know and that's why it's best to leave them alone right now. Besides, they're all resting."
Hearing that Xilo stopped as he listened to Aeon talk.
"Sir, We are the ones sent to deal with this issue this time. No harm will come to them, we're here to help. I know you're worried about your town's people but we must examine them. As the leader of them should you not keep a level head at all times?"
"You're right, sorry about that. It's just been days since I've slept."
"Then why didn't you contact us earlier about this."
"We tried to handle it on our own at first but nothing has worked so far and now left with no choice we contacted you as fast as possible."
"Well we're here to take care of it so get some rest now. I'm sure Tearia here will be a great help."
".....Not yet, I can't rest yet. Not until I see them getting better."
If he rested now without making sure they were at least getting better he wouldn't be able to live with himself.
