"Your grace, are you trying to get me killed? Have I annoyed you so much that you want to retaliate now?"

Nadia's eyes wandered towards Lukas with reproach as she began to curse him inside her head. She again questioned why she had believed this man's words.

'I was probably blinded by my desire to be free. He was just messing with me.'

Lukas snorted, "So you were annoying me on purpose."

He kind of had an idea, but it was too obnoxious to consider. No one ever dared to even breathe in his direction, after all. But this woman, from the time he could remember, had been mouthing him off, even calling him names most of the time.

He just thought that a woman could have the audacity to denigrate a duke. And to him, of all people.

What could he call it? Amusement?

Right. It was amusing.

If not because of her strange ability, he would not even let her be able to speak in her lifetime. So he's sparing her for now.
