"I think I'm good to go." Spear spoke as he stretched.
"Alright, let's move out." Phina said anxiously.
"Relax, Shira." Spear smiled. "We still need to get to the Lords. You can't be anxious during the entirety of that time, it'll wear you down mentally."
"..." Phina took a deep breath. "Alright...thanks."
"No problem." Spear smiled brightly. "Oh, yeah. What's that Skill of yours called?"
"Which one?" Phina asked. She had no problem explaining her Skills. After all, her highest rank Skill was Flashing Steps, and not anyone can just use a Law-rank Skill, even Law-rankers! It was like a Beast's Ultimate Skill. It was highly dependent on how high your affinity for a certain Skill is.
For example, the Flaming Frost Hawk's Ultimate Skill, Freezing Heat Hurricane, utilizes the Hawk's innate affinity to the elements of Fire and Water. The Skill, though it was an Intermediate-rank Beast Skill, had hints of the Law of Temperature. Phina's Flashing Steps simply wouldn't be possible without her high Synchronicity rate which allows her to increase her affinity to Laws. Even with all those factors, she wouldn't have been able to use it without her natural affinity towards the Law of Space.
"All of them! That repelling Skill looked so cool!" Spear spoke with excitement as he walked beside Phina.
"Well, what do I get out of this? How about this, I tell you one of my Skills and you tell me one of yours, how about that?" Phina proposed. Spear quickly nodded his head. Phina smirked and continued, "The teleporting Skill is called Flashing Steps. It allows me to become one with the Law of Space and move behind the Life Energy source I decide on. If I wanted to, I could add a blinding flash, though it already uses too much World Energy, so I decided to not use the flash. Your turn, what was that Skill with the black swords?"
"Oh, that's my Twin Abaddons! It's my second most powerful Skill!" Spear spoke like a giddy kid. Although he looked like a 15-year-old teen, the man was well into his 20s! "I remember when I got the inspiration for this Skill. My grandpa had kept a crystal recording of a fight between a Beast, a Law-rank Lord, and the Dual Monarchs!"
"The Dual Monarchs?" Phina raised an eyebrow. She was a little calmer this time.
"You don't know the Dual Monarchs?!" Spear gasped, completely forgetting that Phina was originally from outside the Killers' Arena. "They're the two previous Monarchs of Humans! They were so powerful that Humans agreed to give both of them the status of Monarch!"
"Alright, and the Skill?" Phina rolled her eyes.
"Oh, yeah. Anyway, I saw how they worked together, and it was fascinating to say the least." Spear fell into thought. "The way they attacked the same place, at the same time, with the same amount of strength looked like magic. The technique almost tripled the power they'd get from just normally attacking together. I applied it along with infusing my blades with Dark World Energy."
"Sounds simple. What rank is your Skill?" Phina asked.
"Grandpa said it was a Law-rank Skill, albeit barely." Spear said smugly.
"He was probably inflating your ego." Phina scoffed. 'There's no way that dumb Skill is on the same level as Flashing Steps.'
"Probably." Spear chuckled awkwardly. "I kind of had low confidence at that time. Alright, my turn again! What was that Skill you used against the Beast army?"
"It's called Holy Devastation. It's an Expert-rank Skill that allows me expand my range of Life Energy and infuse it with Holy World Energy, creating a gigantic explosion that heals me with the amount of damage I dish out." Phina explained casually. "Now that I think about it, it's less of me healing by the amount of damage and it's more of me stealing the enemies Life and World Energy."
"That's amazing!!" Spear said with excitement.
"Alright, my turn." Phina thinned her eyes. "What's that Life Energy Skill you used at the end?"
"That's..." Spear hesitated. "my grandpa made this Skill, can you please choose another one?"
"Oh, come on! I told you my Skills, it's only fair!" Phina faked pout. 'I need to know where he got Death's Edge from. If he's from outside the arena, then maybe I can form an alliance with him.'
"I mean...I can tell you its purpose, but not how to execute it." Spear replied, his previous seriousness returning. "It's a Founder-rank Skill developed by my grandpa after he reached a breakthrough. It allows me to fully restore my Life Energy reserves. My grandpa called it the Second Life Skill."
'Shit, looks like his grandpa just so happened to create the same Skill.' Phina grit her teeth, yet she quickly smiled in faked astonishment. "That's unbelievable! The possibilities are endless for its usage! Maybe I can meet your grandfather and ask him to teach me the Skill."
"I highly doubt it." Spear sighed. "Even I don't know where he disappeared to. He said that he had to help the Human-Elf-Angel faction with what little he had, then he disappeared. I'm on a journey to find him right now."
"Oh, yeah. What was up with the mask?" Phina asked.
"Right back at you." Spear chuckled.
"I've made a few enemies." Phina awkwardly replied. "But why aren't you covering your face?"
"You've already seen my face. If you were one of my enemies, you'd have tried to kill me when I was resting." Spear explained. "I'll just wear a cloth or something when we get back to the Town."
"I've been meaning to ask you, wha-"
"Lord ahead!" Phina was cut short by Richen as he led the party to the next Beast.
Piercing Sight!
"Three Elites and a Lord. The Elites are Stone Golems, while the Lord is an Earth Spirit Scorpion." Phina reported. While she was new to the Killers' Arena, she had received general knowledge about all kinds of Beasts during her time as a Cadet.
"Shit, this is going to be hard." Spear cursed. "I can try to beat the Lor-"
"I'll take the Lord." Phina declared. Earth Spirits were creatures that used the Earth element as World Energy. The only thing scary about them was their 'technically' infinite World Energy reserves. "That Lord's got a few fangs...they're mine."
"Fine, I'll try and kill my Stone Golem quickly and come back you up." Spear nodded in agreement.
"You got a problem with the plan, Richen?" Mayo asked, to which Richen said nothing. "If not, then let's move out."
"What that?" one of the Stone Golems asked his Lord, the Earth Spirit Scorpion.
The Earth Spirit Scorpion, which had the upper body of a muscular man and the lower body of scorpion, smiled gently. "You forgot the 'is', Filch."
"Sorry." Filch apologized.
"No need." the Lord chuckled. "I just want you to develop the intelligence to compete with other Lords, even if you are only Elites."
"As for your question on the other hand, seems like we're about to find out." the Lord glared at the group of four Humanoids rushing them. "Three Humans and an Angel, all at the Advanced-rank. Not bad. Filch. Rifia. Sandun. I want all three of you to sit this one out. I'm pretty close to breaking into the Intermediate-rank. If I can kill one of them and eat the corpse, I can reach the Intermediate-rank and contend with Malik."
"Okay, Gargo." the Stone Golem trio replied.
"Now...time to face my destiny." Gargo took a deep breath to calm himself as he faced down the party of four ahead of him. He then smirked. "They should be easy pickings."
"The Elites are retreating while the Lord is advancing slightly." Phina reported. "The bastard wants a fight!"
"Then we'll give it to him!!" Mayo declared as he took the lead.
