'Kassandra, I know my face is the last one you want to see but I need to talk to you.' He spoke like he was going to be fined for every second. I could barely understand him because it was just too fast.
I was confused as to whether it was a good idea to have him in the same room as me.
'What do you want?' I questioned.
He said nothing. Instead, he looked out the window like I always did.
I wondered if he was searching for freedom like me. Or maybe the freedom he wanted was deeper than getting a pass to leave the hospital.
'Nate was stupid.' He said.
I was too weak to do anything but what I wanted to do was pounce on him. How could he come to me and tell my late brother was stupid?
I closed the door behind me and walked to the bed.
'What do you want, Desmond?' I asked.
