Psikhopat (psycho)

“Oh god. How are you feeling?” I asked Alexander as I sit down next to him. A white fluffy cover is draped over my shoulders by Alexander. It’s rather chilly inside his room, the last time I was in here was when I bandaged him up from his fight with Sasha. Since then, the room looks quite different.

His dresser drawer is moved on the wall facing the window. Last time it was on the wall where his bathroom is.

“I’m fine, I’m still a little weak.” He lets out a small groan as he tries to lift his arms up. They raise up a few inches then fall right back to their original spot. White bandages are wrapped around his arms, a small bit of blood is shown through them.

“Why haven’t you healed yet?” Usually when I bandage him up, he heals within 5 minutes. Piper stabbed him in the arms over a day ago and he still isn’t better. I hope nothing. . .bad happens to him.

“The knife was laced with monkshood. It’s deadly to werewolves.” I grab his hand in mine, too quickly and he starts to groan.

“Sorry.” I thought Piper just came to hurt me and Alexander, scare us into submission. Not exactly, she wanted to kill him. Most likely to get him out the way, so taking me would be an easy task for her. “You said deadly, are you. . .dying or something?”

He pats my hand gently, laying all my bad thought to rest, “I’m not going to die Quinn. There are herbs that can help stop the poison from going onto my system. I got here just in time, if I didn’t then I’d be-.”

“Dead.” I finish his sentence.

“Exactly, I’ll be weak for a couple days so don’t go getting into any trouble.” I smile and give him a peck on his cheek while rubbing his strong back gently.

“I’ll try and contain myself.” I assure him.

“How did you do that?”

“Do what?” I asked curiously.

“The ring of fire around you and Piper. I didn’t know you could do that.” A look of surprise comes across his face, also he looks a little proud and impressed.

“Me either. I’ve been practicing with Katana, she’s taught me how to control it, and not let it get out of control.”

“Katana huh?”

“Yep. She’s been helpful, I like her.” We just sit in his room on the bed, bathing in each other’s presence.

“How are you doing with everything?” I asked Lyra on the phone. “Excuse me ma’am.” I say to the black-haired woman in the frozen food isle. The lady gives me a warm smile and lets me through. I’m currently at the grocery store getting some food to stock up on in the house Lately, me and my grandpa have been eating fast food. With everything happening groceries haven’t been on the top of the list.

“I should be asking you that.” Over the phone I hear shuffling around, sounds like she’s putting something up or whatever. I haven’t seen Lyra since the whole kidnapping thing happened, when I called her to say that I was fine she was so happy. If she hadn’t gotten away and to tell Grandpa, I don’t know where I would be right now.

“I’m. . .going.” Is all I say. I grab a couple cans of vegetables and put them in the cart.

“Why didn’t you tell me about that whole other world. The werewolves and vampires and you having extraterrestrial powers! It’s a lot to wrap my head around.”

“Oh, you don’t know the half out it. I couldn’t tell you Alexander made me promise.”

“But I’m your best friend.” I let out a sigh. I’ve known Lyra since I was a kid, and she’s been my closest confidant. We would tell each other everything, and when I say everything, I mean everything. She told me when she got her first kiss, and I told her when I got my first period. She’s been the closest thing I’ve ever had to a sibling, a sister.

There were times when I wanted to tell her everything. Tell her that Alexander was a werewolf, and that a psycho red wolf was coming after me so I could wake up some dead witches. Also, that I have powers given to me by a Greek goddess.

“I know you are. I couldn’t tell you about Alexander and all that because it’s a big secret. If the secret got out it wouldn’t just affect him, but all of his pack.” Opening the frozen freezer door, I grab a pack of waffles.

“I get it. It’s just. . .so crazy to think about. Wait, when we went into the woods and we saw that wolf, did you know about them then.”

“Uh no I didn’t. That’s why I wasn’t talking to Alexander. He disappeared for two weeks and wouldn’t tell me why, the reason pertained to werewolves.”

“Makes sense, so what’s going on with everything right now?”

“Since Sasha’s dead, she’s out the way. But there's another girl in the mix Piper Pryde. She killed a pack member a few days ago and stabbed Alexander in the arms.” I hear her wince over the phone, disgusted by the whole thing.

“God, is he ok?”

“The knifes were laced with monkshood, it’s a deadly plant to werewolves. He’s a little weak right now, but he’ll get better over time.”

“I can’t understand how you must have felt, Quinneth stay safe ok I can’t go on in life without you.”

“You either. Hey, I’ve got get off the phone. I need to pay for these groceries and get home.”

“Ok, call me later. Bye.”

“Bye.”

Kicking open the front door with my foot, I shuffle with the groceries in my hand. Trudging my way thought the hallway I reach the kitchen and sling the groceries on the counter.

“Impressive.” I say to myself. I made an attempt to bring all the food in at once, and it actually happened. Running back down the hall I shut the door open and procced back to the kitchen. I thought my grandpa would be here, but he must be at the pack house or out with Irene.

Putting up the groceries I hear a knock at the door, opening it up I see Its Irene. I guess he’s not with her then since she’s here.

“Hey Irene. If you're looking for my grandpa he isn’t here.” She gives me a warm smile. Her purple sway hangs lowly on her shoulders.

“Oh, ok. I’ll just wait in the living room then.” She comes on in and walks to our couch and sits down. Her one leg crosses over the other.

“If you need anything, I’ll be in the kitchen.”

“What are you doing in there? Making a tasty meal.”

“No.” I laugh. “Just putting up groceries.”

“Alright then.” She opens up her book and begins reading. Before I’m able to put up the last item, the doorbell rings. I wonder who that could be.

Opening the door, I’m greeted by a tall girl with ginger hair. Piper Pryde.

“What are you doing here Piper.” I whisper under my breath. I close the door inward, so Irene doesn’t see her.

“I told you. . .24 hours. 24 hours to give yourself over or someone dies.” Crap, for a split second I thought I was living in a normal universe, now I’m back to reality. Currently theirs a killer at my door.

“Who’s this Quinn?” I hear Irene say behind me. Her pink lipstick reflects off the light coming in from the door.

“Just. . .a friend from school that’s all.”

“Don’t be so frank Quinneth. I’m Piper, were best friends.” She gives Irene’s hand a good shake.

“Nice to meet you Piper, is that a Russian accent I hear.” She laughs.

“Yes, I was born in Vladivostok.”

“Mne tam nravitsya (I love it there).” She responds to Piper. A surprised look paints her face.

“Khoroshiy Russkiy (Good Russian).” replies Piper. She seems amused by Irene. I didn’t know Irene could speak a second language, especially Russian. Hopefully she won’t do anything irrational.

“Spasibo (thanks). Let me leave you alone to talk or whatever I’ll be back in the living room.” She waves to us and walks back to the couch.

“Awe, I really like her. Sucks that I have to kill her.” My eyes widen. “How should I kill her?” She says thinking to herself. “Break her neck, gut her like a fish? Since her blood will be on your hands, I’ll let you pick.” She’s so sick.

“Leave her alone. I’ll- I’ll go with you ok. Just- meet me outside.” She can be really scary something, who am I kidding all the time.

“No, I’ll stay out here just to make sure you don’t run. I don’t like runners.”

Leaving from the door I walk into the entrance way of the living room. I look to see Irene intently reading her book. “Hey, I’m going out with Piper. Will you ok here alone?”

“Oh fine. Have fun.”

“I hope.” I say mumbling to myself. “Come on.” I follow behind Piper quietly.
