Chapter 1:-The debut of Pseudo Champion
'Uriel academy' a school that is set up by cooperation of 85 countries, it is a really high class school with over 900 acres land is set up as a artificial island in Indian ocean for advanced studies in every possible fields.
It also has a special grade system which actually values each person individually. It ranges from F5 to A1, the higher your grade when you graduate from this school, the higher is the position you get in the world in every field either be sports or academics or anything else. Some specially high grade students even get contracts from big companies and there's a chance that some institute might hire you just after graduation.
Even among these grades there is a 100 point division each making your position more clear. The high rankers may get special privileges within the school that's why students challenge each other to get their grade up, the more the difference is between your opponent the more higher rank up you get if you are able to win otherwise you may get demoted a grade.
Students can challenge each other in quizzes, sports, different form of arts and also a unique technological development to the academy [Ability Spar]. In any type of one on one competition a student gets a random ability from a lucky draw and they fight using this.
Since the establishment of this School 19 years ago the grade system has dominated the school, the lower grade can never beat a higher grade, once your position is determined you can only struggle to improve it but you can't become the best, this ideology completely governs the school until one day a person smashed this ideology into its face.
A new session has began today with over a little 500 new students enrolling in the school every student wearing a ID card on which the most highlighted information was the grade they got assigned to. After the opening ceremony their was a performance celebration of a new successful year of academy. A boy about 6 ft tall, fair complexion, black hair and eyes, wearing his school shirt sleeves folded upto his half of the lower arm, wearing his tie in a loosen manner and was walking towards the front seat of the stadium in a playful manner while jumping on the stairs.
"Hey the seat he is going towards is the seat for high rankers" one of the random students spoke from the crowd
"Looks like we are too late" another student replied while looking at the group of three senior students two boys and a girl
"Hey this seat doesn't belong to lowlife like you" the boy standing in the middle of the group. He looked like someone from a European country with blonde hair, blue eyes and tall height though slight less than 6 ft wearing his uniform in proper manner.
"And why should this seat belong to you?" the student replied while not even looking at the person.
"Who do you think you are talking to?" the senior boy at the right of the group shouted. After hearing this the student looked towards the group. The senior continued, "Do you not know? This person is the highest ranking person of the academy with grade of A1+97 he reached this much grade in just two years, it is the recorded highest grade in this school till date people rarely achieve above A1+80 in this academy, do you know how much of a big deal he is?" the senior continued his speech on the topic.
"Congratulations for that but it still doesn't answer my question, why does this seat belong to you?" the student answered sarcastically.
After hearing this the seniors had a surprised look and many students in the back who listened to the conversation were either shocked or were giggling a bit.
"You really got a lot of nerve for disrespecting Ronald twice, just who are you?" the girl on left stepped forward and leaned towards the new student and pulled his ID card
"Roshan Singh, grade D5+21, seriously with such low grade you sure run a big mouth. The average grade this year was D2+40, you are not even close to that and yet you talk in an arrogant speech" the girl continued while reading the info of his ID card.
"And you are Adalene Arnaud, well Madammoiselle what does grades have to do with anything here?" Roshan asked the girl after learning her name from her ID card. Ronald (the Highest grade senior) smiled after hearing this and replied,
"Grades have to do with everything here boy. In this world power is everything without power you can't face anyone, can't change anything. Power is the absolute truth of the world and here grades provide you power in academy and in the world, the higher your grade, the higher is the power and I have the highest grade and so the highest power" Ronald gave this descriptive detail with a supreme high and mighty tone of voice.
"There are many things in this world you can't shake with power, there are many people who pull strings behind the scene and you are unable to realize or touch with your power, like here in school you are still powerless against headmaster or director even with your grades, everybody becomes weak against something so don't get blinded with a little power and even if I can't have any power I will still not bow to someone if I don't want to" after speaking all this the Roshan turned his head towards the stage as things were getting ready for performance
"NOW I AM DONE PLAYING NICE YOU ARE NOT GETTING OFF EASY NOW" Ronald bursting with anger spoke loudly.
"You all stop making a scene" a female teacher shouted from the behind the senor students while coming towards them.
"Tessa-Mam I want to challenge this boy" Ronald says to the teacher while pointing his finger towards Roshan.
Roshan also looked towards the teacher and Tessa also looked towards him and asked Ronald,
"What do you gain by challenging him he is just a new student ?"
"I just want to…" Ronald says while making a angry face
"Both parties have to agree for such a challenge else it can't happen, does he agree?" Tessa asks Ronald while pointing her hands towards Roshan. Before Roshan could speak anything Ronald interrupted,
"I hope you aren't getting cold feet after saying all those things or were those just empty words of a coward" after hearing all these Roshan brought his eyebrows close making a glare look towards the ground and the slowly raises his face,
"I accept" Roshan accepts while looking towards Tessa
"Both of you come with me" Tessa asks them while turning back moving towards somewhere while both of them follow her.
After that the performance started where students perform a idol show (a show where people sing and dance at the same time), everyone in the stadium was enjoying it, when the show was over the host came to the stage.
"Well looks like everyone here enjoyed the show quite a bit, but here is the deal the show isn't over yet. We have a new announcement for you all" the host announced it all and the students were surprised on hearing this then suddenly Roshan, Ronald along with Tessa came to the stage and everyone turned their eyes on them.
"Between these two there will be a challenge match" Tessa said while keeping he arm on the shoulder of the two boys.
Everyone was shocked and nobody can blame them after all why does a no name and academy's best student are having a match it doesn't make sense at all. Everyone slowly became curious about what is going to happen and again their eyes became focused towards the stage.
"So what kind of challenge are we having" Tessa asked the two boys on the stage.
"He can choose" Ronald said while pointing his head towards Roshan.
"No, you initiated the challenge you choose" Roshan replied
"Well don't blame me later when I smash that arrogance of yours, We are having an ability spar hand to hand combat" Ronald announced loud and clear while taking the mike from the host
Everyone was looking at each other.
"He is really using that challenge against a newcomer" "he doesn't stand a chance" "This match is already decided" voices came from the crowd.
"Well then let's begin the preparations then" Tessa announced on the mask
After that many workers and officials started coming to stage, with some materials and they set up a boxing ring like arena but was larger than that.
"Well then let me explain the rules here" Tessa said that while standing on a high stool like substance
"Here you will fight with your fists, any attack is valid other then vital organs and from this box here you will get a random physical ability from draw" She said that as the workers behind her brought an approx 30*37*20 volume of ballet box and also a pair of vests along with pads and a helmet and then she continued
"Here are some special vests and pad wear them. They will protect you from any major harm from the abilities and also they will be a essential component in this type of match now look at the screen" both of the contestants move their eyes towards the screen and they saw their pictures on two ends of screen. Ronald on the left and Roshan on the right and below their pictures their was a green bar on which 100% was written in black.
" The green bar is your Hit points, by continuous damage it will continue to reduce and the person whose hit point reaches 0% first will lose and also note that even though the gears are to protect you, you will still receive some amount of shock from the attack so if between you two anyone is unable to continue the match will be over. Now come draw your abilities." Tessa explained the rest of the rules.
The contestants moved towards the ballet box first Ronald draws from the box and takes out a card and says,
"Extreme strength" and then presses on the card and the card turns into strip of numbers and then disappears when it collapses with his body and then Roshan moves forward and draws a card from the box and says,
"Harden" and does the same as with Ronald card
"Luck is also leaves the side of weak this match is as good as over" Ronald walks away after saying this and starts wearing his equipment, same goes for Roshan
"well then let's begin" announces Tessa while playing the role of refree and a big horn sound comes
Sfx: horn blow
Ronald dashes towards Roshan and throws a right punch Roshan tilts his body and uses his right lower arm and left palm to deflect his punch while getting scraped from ronald's little finger causing him to lose 2% HP, then only Ronald throws a right kick but Roshan catches his leg in the movement and throws him while sliding him in a circle and he loses 6% HP. Ronald gets triggered a bit and rushes towards him and attacked a successful barrage of punches which Roshan tries to protect himself by forming a cross by his arms and then Ronald tries a roundhouse kick while jumping in air but again Roshan catches his leg and then straight throws him on ground without delay and also lands a left hand punch on his knee.
"woah really good" a commentator said from his stand which was opposite to the screen
"affirmative, nice blow"another commentator says
After that Ronald successfully releases himself and jumps a little backward,
'He looks like accustomed to kicks then I have to deal him with punches and chops' while thinking that he again dashes towards Roshan and attacks him with a punch but Roshan dodges while jumping backwards towards Ronald's right but the Ronald rushes at him at enormous speed and does a pierce attack with his chop near Roshan's left shoulder and then a jab to his jaw and then he goes for another attack but this time Roshan stretches his both hands towards Ronald which confuses Ronald as it wasn't exactly coming as an attack and as he reaches besides the shoulder of Ronald he quickly slides his hands down and then quickly grabs Ronald and lands a headbutt with full force. Ronald makes his escape from his grip by a knee kick in Roshan's gut and makes some distance.
This really caused a uproar in the crowd as everyone was shocked and excited at the same time seeing someone equally matching the topper of the academy.
"Woah, it really turned out quite differently from everyone's anticipation" commentator 1 says while being filled with excitement.
"Confirmed, its first time in a real long time seeing the topper being in such a close match where Roshan HP is 75% and Ronald HP is 78%" commentator 2 agrees
"I really let my guard down there but that was your last successful hit" Ronald says and then again gets ready for his attacks.
He rushes towards Roshan while Roshan gets ready with a defensive pose but then Ronald jumps in the air and lands a smashing punch on Roshan's head then he throws a chop on his right shoulder and then one at the back of his neck and then a punch on his lower back and then chop on his thighs which causes Roshan to lose balance and then with a strong uppercut in the guts he got thrown to near the end of the ring. His HP is now 51%. He crawls a bit forward and somehow stands a bit
"Can you feel it? I attacked your vital joints, I am surprised that you are able to stand most people are unable to move after that and it was also combined with my ability, but whatever you have no fighting strength and you will go down in next shot and will remain unable to fight. For the matter of fact draining your HP is quite hard, I acknowledge you have some talent you might be able to reach C rank till graduation but now this is over" after saying this he rushes at real high pace using his strengthening to fullest and then lands two punches one on Roshan's right shoulder and on his right waist and dashes foraward on his path leaving behind Roshan.
Silence ran down to the stadium. Everyone excitement disappeared along with Roshan's 10% HP, everyone believed it was over but not.
"What the..When" Ronald was touching his right shoulder below the arm feeling pain and then he remembered that he got hit buy Roshan's elbow as he finished his final attack. Ronald HP was reduced to 61%.
"You really talked a lot in today's match" Roshan spoke "Hardening was the reason that you lost the fight, your vital joints attack would have worked if it wasn't for that. Maybe this much talking is enough" he said all this while grinning and tilting his head vertically left
"But I combined it with my abi…." Ronald tried to keep a argument but was interrupted
"Enough talking" Roshan rushes and tackles Ronald into a corner and then gives a really hard smashing to his face causes his HP to fall to 46%
"How can he do this much damage?" everyone in the crowd shouted similar questions
"Hardening can also be used for attacking after all it hardens your upper skin" Roshan says while making some distance.
"Ohhhhh!The match again took a surprise turn my heart can't handle that many surprises" commentator 1 shouts with a really surprised tone
Ronald rushes and starts his barrage of punches at high speed Roshan blocked some while got hit by some. But suddenly Ronald movements became slower and in the next movement he lost his footing and in that exact movement he got attacked by a leg sweep from Roshan. Ronald falls on the ground.
"I attacked you knee with full power at the start of the match, you remember right. Due to continuous jumping and running it's effect worsened and kick-" Roshan attacks while speaking with a kick and Ronald get thrown away "ed in" as Ronald was trying to get up and the movement he raised his head he gets hit by a smashing right punch in the face and as he was falling back Roshan got a grip on his hair and pulls him forward and lands a knee kick in the face.
"Analyzed! Looks like he is trying to drain hit points by continuously attacking at same point Ronald HP is 21 % while Roshan HP is 35%" commentator 2 displays her thoughts
Ronald then holds Roshan's wrist and then brings his hands closer, Roshan struggles to escape his grip but in vain. Ronald stands up and also lists up Roshan up in the air and the crowd leaves a surprise tone and Ronald starts spinning Roshan up in the air and moves along with it to cause a circular motion and he keeps on spinning as he shouts
"UWAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH"
And then he throws Roshan towards a corner of the ring and Roshan collapses with the pillar while crashing on his head causing his HP go to 13%.
"WOAAAAAAH! That move was really amazing but what's more amazing that he has some HP after that though I don't know if he can survive his another full power attack though" commentator 1 announces as she stands up in excitement
"Confirmed, he can't." commentator 2 added
And the finally Ronald again rushes towards Roshan but at not a very high pace Roshan was still holding on to his head
"HIYAAAAAAAAH" and then Ronald takes a leap and goes forward with a right punch but again to his surprise Roshan counters it with his left punch causes his HP reduced to 10% while Ronald's HP to 14%
"AAAAAH! What did you do?" Ronald screams in pain as he holds his fist. He looked at his fist it started to turn black due to swelling.
"Even if you have a little abnormal strength, if you continuously break steel walls with your fists eventually they will give up, that's what you did with your continuous attack, you should have remembered what the refree told" Roshan explains this stuff while standing up. Then Ronald remembers that tessa told them before the match that even if the gears protect them some backlash will still remains.
Roshan finally rushes straight forward for a tackle and Ronald tries to stop him but at last movement he goes for the legs and makes him fall and then he starts using his right leg and started stomping at a highspeed at different points first the hands and then his chest and when after a while when Ronald HP reaches 6% he jumps and lands on his chest with full force.
Sfx: horn blows
A large horn blows again signaling the end of match
Ronald HP 0%
Roshan HP 9%
"Winner! Roshan Singh" Tessa announced
The high rankers on the front have their eyes and mouth wide open and even more surprised, shocked and many more emotions were overflowing among the low rankers. That moment was like a miracle but everybody knew that no miracle or fluke could have made this possible. Some people wanted to say something but couldn't find the words.
" Well then Mr. Singh could you share with us about how you managed to beat the topper of our school who has won every single match with ease" commentator 1 asks while being full of curiosity.
"Well I don't see a problem" Roshan says as he grabs the mike
"First in the match I knowingly took his punches and made his kicks attack useless. There were two reasons first I wanted to use his fists to stop much versatile attacks and another to experiment with my ability" Roshan explained while looking towards the crowd
"Experiment?" the commentator 1 asked in confusion
"Yeah I experimented with my ability, how can I increase the hardness so I thought how about concentrating hardness of the whole body at fixed points. And I continuously took hits and tried to reduce the area that I applied the hardness while also increasing the amount of hardness and the moment before I landed headbutt I mastered it. The minimum area I can apply this is equal to the surface area of my five fingers. I predicted his fighting style and protected myself with maximum hardness and that's also how I managed to cause so much damage and also made his fingers swell" Roshan explained his fighting details to the audience but the audience was much more surprised there
"Incomprehensible, how can someone master their ability in such a small amount of time" commentator 2 stood up from her seat and shouts out
"If you use a little bit of you mind you will understand, hardening is just arrangement of fixed atoms and molecules such that they are arranged. If we bring the atoms closer then surely we can form a stronger structure. Everyone thought this is a contest of strength, ability and skills but for me the main thing was knowledge and understanding" Roshan puts up his argument forward explaining all the facts.
"So that means you were using Ronald's actions against him?" Tessa asked him. Even she didn't know that something like this would happen
"Yes you can say that Tessa-mam. He underestimated me quite a lot so he didn't thought that I could use some tricks like this." Roshan answered
"wait a minute If he actually beat the champion of our school then he is the new champion" someone from the crowd shouted.
"But his grades are in D it's not enough" another one spoke up
"He is a champion in skills but not in name but in skills, he is our unofficial champion, A Pseudo-Champion" another one shouted out
"yeah Pseudo-Champion, Pseudo-Champion, Pseudo-Champion, Pseudo-Champion, Pseudo-Champion" whole crowd started cheering
"Looks like Roshan Singh gained a nickname on the first day, the Pseudo-Champion" commentator 1 said
This was a long first day of our Pseudo-Champion, the debut of our Pseudo-Champion.
