Unable to stay quiet any longer, Adonis interrupted Diviya, "you know you can come to me with any questions right? I will tell you anything you want to know."
Diviya's mouth opens and close as she slowly sat up. She was taken aback and speechless for a moment. How could he say that?
Her mind had suddenly brought a memory to the forefront. Which says otherwise.
She then leans back in her chair, lifts a brow and says "yea? I wonder what first impression gave that away?"
Diviya honestly didn't mean to sound so sarcastic but hell he did walk out on her. Just like that!
Dracul had explained things to her, HE didn't, so what in the hell would give her the impression that she could COME to HIM.
The memory of it all came crashing down on Diviya.
She didn't know why she was so angry all of a sudden at him for walking out on her.
The mood went from a hundred to zero in a second.
She was in good spirits then suddenly bam!
Worse yet, soon enough all Diviya's insecurities and fear about him not wanting her as his mate and how she felt in that moment like she was being abandoned. It was suffocating her.
It was all consuming, shattering her once brave and confident demeanor. She needed to breathe and she couldn't.
Her emotions was overwhelming her, her eyes shown pure turmoil and she was not thinking clearly.
She wanted to be alone, honestly she just knew she did not want HIM to see her like this. So weak. THAT is all she knew right now.
"Sorry!" She says then got up abruptly, the chair almost toppled with her movements.
She ran in the direction to get out of the hall with her heart beating out of her chest wildly. And boy she was embarrassed.
She can never match up to HIM, she was just simple Diviya. A book worm. Study, study, study! So much she doesn't even know yet. She felt less than for the position of HIS mate.
Was she strong enough to be the woman by his side? HIS Queen? Rule?
This has nothing to do with him really except for the fact that she just wanted to know why.
Now that it all came crashing down in her mind, she wanted to hear why he left, from him. She wanted to know, she needed to know so she can stop conjuring up these theories.
Diviya did not make it too far, not even out of the hall, not even to the end of the long table where they had breakfast.
Adonis was swift, he caught her, he had felt her emotions and he had watched her closely. He read her like a book, his body was literally leaning forward, one hand resting on the arms rest gripping it tightly as he watched her like a hawk, waiting.
And Goddess did he want to make her feel better. Ease her pain, ease that turmoil he saw in the depths of those mesmerizingly green eyes.
He can never not want her how can she feel that way? Is that what she really thought? Or did I read her wrong? He asks himself.
She looked so hurt and clearly affected by the memory he was sure, of him walking out that night he guessed, but was so certain.
Adonis did not know how to put it in words but he would try his best.
Diviya was not sure where she was even running to, to be honest.
Reaching her Adonis had scooped her up in his arms and whispered in her ear, "not so fast little fighter."
Diviya had let out a little yelp at the sudden movements. Now she was comfortably held against his chest enjoying the sensations his touch, hold and smell and all that it stirs in her.
And boy did he smell so good, that woodsy, yet citrusy fragrance.
His lips so close to her ear, his warm breath reaching her and it was like her senses was activated and charged up instantly. The hair on her skin stood at attention, and suddenly she felt slight warm shocks, little tingles through her body, which then led straight to her core.
He was touching her.
This is ridiculous Diviya thought in his arms. This darn mate bond.
At the same time Diviya was chastising herself, how could she feel this way. A moment ago she wanted get away from him. She was just so so so….
"Not without giving me a chance to explain." Adonis continues then his grip on her tightens securely and he took her to one of the waiting rooms down one of corridors on the ground floor.
In this moment all Adonis wanted to do was get on his knees and plead to her and convince her that he will never not want her and to also explain what happened.
The need to reassure her played strong on his heart strings.
He set her down on a couch, then stood up taking off his jacket as he looks at her. He threw it on the couch beside Diviya.
Then he knelt between her legs but her pencil skirt restricted him.
Adonis leans forward his hands pressed to either side of her caging her in by her thighs as he looks into her eyes. They were almost face to face.
Meanwhile Diviya's heart is beating so fast, and for a brief moment she was not breathing, yet she couldn't look away from him.
He was so close and a sweet comforting warm sensation continues moving through her.
"Diviya I am so sorry for leaving like that the other night, my Vampire had just woken up and had not fed in centuries. Your intoxicating scent was driving me wild." He thought he should dive right in.
"I needed to feed, I needed to be sated."
Adonis' gaze was piercing, "And full disclosure I needed time to process."
"All thoughts left me, that is actually what I wanted to start with last night but instead you know what I said. "Hi." He chuckle slightly trying to make light of the mood.
Diviya was looking into Adonis' intense gaze and she saw no lies he was honest. But she didn't miss the part where he said he needed to process.
But for now she realize all she really wanted was to hear from him why he left, not the version Dracul told her. She had freaked as she remembered she still didn't know why he had left and her insecurities was in the driver seat.
And now she was a bit embarrassed of her reaction.
Diviya confessed and apologizes, "sorry I walked out the way I did, honestly I was embarrassed for letting my insecurities rule me and uhh, me seeming weak." Diviya looks away.
Adonis smiles genuinely, reached out and gently turn her head back to face him with his finger below her chin. And seriously said, "you have NOTHING to be insecure about, you hear me? He pause to let that sink in. He was currently rubbing the back of his finger down the side of her face now.
"I don't think there will ever be a time where I don't want or need you..And just remember I am the one who is ready to claim you at the ball, you were the one needs more time." Of course he couldn't help but remind her that he was the one already talking about claiming her and introducing her to his people.
"And most importantly you certainly don't have to ever be embarrassed about the way you feel, your emotions are your own, just talk to me about it next time. Don't be afraid plus I don't see you as weak my little fighter."
Diviya was sure she looked like a tomato by now. She struggle to hold his gaze and to top it off she was madly blushing now. And then he said…
"And another thing" Adonis pause as he continues to pierce her with his gaze and observe her turning red before him. "I've waited for you for over a millennia and now that I finally have you here with me, I am not letting you out of my sight."
Diviya did not think it was possible for her to get any shade redder. But she was certain she did.
She was speechless, because of all he was saying to her, she had searched his eyes for any lies, or for anything she can find to determine if this is real or not, was he sincere or not.
As hard as she looked she found no lies, as far as she could tell and oh boy….
In this moment as Adonis said those last words he realized how much his emotions have been altered in such a short space of time. How is that even possible?
Diviya had easily broke down the — stone hard, steel reinforced wall he had built so effortlessly perfect over the years to keep women away— without even trying to.
He looked at her a little suspiciously for a quick second at the thought. Just who is this woman? He believes she is everything he wants and needs, he sighs and admits to himself.
At this point he had already made up his mind. Diviya was HIS. However he really wanted to get to know her, though this bond has caused an overwhelming connection Adonis wanted to get to know more about Diviya as a person.
