Chapter 30

“Oh, my God, did you see his face? What the hell is wrong with it?”

“I hear he got it messed up in an accident.”

“What’s his name again? I forgot.”

“It’s Digger. You remember Digger, he’s got a gun again. Just sit tight and I’ll take care of it.”

“What the hell, man, does this stuff just follow you everywhere you go?”

“He must’ve received a tip that I would be here tonight. When they’re looking for trouble, these creeps just seem to ooze out of the cracks in the sidewalk.”

When the crowd in the diner realized a gun was pointed at them, the chatter died down, and Digger began speaking. “Welcome to my little get together, citizens. I got a hot tip that one of my friends was gonna be here tonight, so, just sit tight. If he comes out of hiding, nobody will be hurt. Just in case you’re wondering…I’m taking this whole damned diner hostage.”
