20. I'm waiting for my brother

Mo Ling entered the classroom and took her seat when she spotted the sour candy on her desk.

She glanced sideways and saw the girl doing her exercises seriously without even looking up.

She threw the candy in her bag and carelessly sprawled over the desk to take a nap.

These days she isn't sleeping well. And she's always dreaming about her past life.

When their homeroom teacher came, Xue Lili patted Mo Ling lightly to wake her up.

Mo Ling opened her sleepy eyes and glanced at the boy standing beside Teacher Song.

"This is the transfer student. Student He, introduce yourself to the class."

"He Xu."

There's complete silence after he said his name.

Teacher Song choughed awkwardly and pointed at the seat behind Mo Ling.

"You can sit over there."

He Xu silently walked over and took his seat.

"Ok everyone, continue." Teacher Song walked out of the classroom after saying that.

The students in the class couldn't help but discuss the new student.

"Who's this gloomy guy? There's only three months left before the entrance exam. Who'd transfer schools at this time?"

"Didn't you hear his name? That's He Xu, the He family's illegitimate son. Who was overseas before."

"Oh! I remember now. But didn't the He family send him overseas because they didn't want to acknowledge him? Then why is he back now?"

"I heard that Young Master He is severely ill and he needs organ donation… that's just a rumour I heard. I don't know whether it is true or not."

"So that means.. the He family can't be that ruthless right?" everyone who heard that gasped at the news.

Mo Ling came out of her thoughts when the bell rang and threw them at the back of her mind.

At the First High school entrance, a small girl with chubby cheeks and round face was squatting down near a barbecue stall.

The customers who came to eat look at her from time to time when they saw her cute appearance.

The stall owner walked out with a soup bowl and a few pieces of barbecue meat. He placed them near her and said..

"Little kid, are you lost?"

The girl looked up, blinking her big eyes.

"No, I'm waiting for my brother."

There's some childish tone in her voice and the innocent look on her face almost melted the owner's heart.

He observed the little girl for some time. At first he thought of ignoring her but he couldn't do it in the end when he looked at her cute face.

The stall owner first looked at the First High school then at the girl. It's obvious that her brother is a student in that school. He didn't ask further.

"You should eat something. I can hear your stomach from inside my stall. There's still half an hour to go when school's over."

He smiled when he saw the kid's embarrassed look and went inside to attend to his business.

The Little girl first looked at the school gate then at the food beside her. She tilted her head to the side to think for a few seconds.

Eventually she took the food and sat at the bench nearby. Then she continued looking at the school while eating the food.
