Police in Los Angeles

In a stitched-together world of episodic American TV dramas, we are invited to step into the protagonist's shoes and rescue characters who were unceremoniously written off. The aim is to rationally amend the absurd plot twists concocted by capricious screenwriters. This includes, but is not limited to, shows such as The Rookie, Castle, and Hunter. Future additions may encompass Person of Interest, Knight Rider, Bones, and even various police-themed movies. Excluding the protagonist's "System", there are no supernatural elements. All cases and narratives serve the novel's storyline, with some creative modifications. Readers are advised not to take these changes too seriously.

Chapter 56 Transaction

"Compile the medical records for both you and Justin, including the desensitization treatments you've been undergoing. I need to prepare, and we'll start with you in three months.

Of course, all this must have one prerequisite: both you and Justin must strictly adhere to this. Only the three of us should know about this, and no one else, not even your closest ones. No matter how much your or Justin's condition improves, you must come up with your own explanations. You must not reveal my involvement. I don't like to threaten people, but you should understand that leaking this secret wouldn't be good for either of us."

Christian Wolff's gaze stopped wavering. After staring into Jack's eyes for a long moment, he finally nodded expressionlessly.

"No problem. I'll come to LA in February next year. If your so-called family heritage really works, I'll take you to meet Justin."

A weight lifted off Jack's shoulders as he pocketed the coin from the table. "Now let's return to our original topic. Why did you contact me, and what do you want me to do?"

The accountant took a file from his desk drawer and motioned for Jack to open it.

"This is about a drug cartel called Malos Dorados. They're planning to expand into LA next year. I have intelligence that their leader will also be in the city. You can choose to arrest her or..."

Jack opened the file and his heart skipped a beat at the names and photos.

"You mean their leader is this woman, La Fiera?"

He never expected the accountant to be linked to the "Rookie" series' character La Fiera. That storyline had disgusted Jack back then, showcasing the worst of American double standards.

A transnational drug cartel leader named La Fiera, known as the "Fire Lady," terrorized Central America, committing atrocities including massacres. She sent her son to UCLA and expanded her operations to LA. Despite her notorious reputation, LAPD treated her as an ordinary person since she had no criminal record in the USA.

Former Guatemalan police officers, survivors of one of her village massacres, attempted to assassinate her but were thwarted by the show's protagonists. Some were arrested, some were killed, and one committed suicide. Ironically, shortly after, La Fiera's son was killed by a local LA drug gang. She kidnapped a pregnant Angela at her wedding to raise her child as her own. The LAPD, unable to pursue cross-border justice, illegally crossed into Mexico, killed La Fiera, and returned triumphantly. This storyline not only insulted viewers' intelligence but also raised the blood pressure of anyone with a moral compass.

"Did she offend you too?" Jack asked, puzzled. This accountant wasn't known for his sense of justice. Being someone who operated in gray areas, most Asperger's patients lacked a basic sense of good and evil, often immersed in their own world.

"She ordered her men to massacre a group of unarmed villagers to demonstrate her power to me. The village refused to grow coca leaves for her cartel."

Jack retracted his assumption. It seemed Christian Wolff wasn't entirely chaotic neutral but leaned more towards chaotic good.

"Understood. I'll keep an eye on this cartel."

Of course, Jack's idea of "keeping an eye" wasn't what the accountant had in mind. The accountant believed in Jack's mysterious background, while Jack relied on his foreknowledge and system skills. Agreeing wasn't difficult for him.

Recalling the atrocious storyline, Jack added, "However, without concrete evidence, LAPD might not be able to act. I'll provide detailed intelligence if necessary, and you can handle it."

The accountant understood, "She's very cautious, never flying and only traveling by yacht. I haven't found a suitable opportunity. If she appears in LA, I won't mind taking her out myself."

Jack scratched his head, cautioning, "Just don't use the Barrett. The last time you made too much noise. Even a regular sniper rifle might attract the FBI. We'll see when the time comes."

The accountant, in turn, shared a piece of intel, "Someone tried to incite Cole to target your two police girlfriends, but fortunately, he wasn't that stupid."

Jack maintained a calm facade, though his heart wasn't at ease. The plotlines not depicted in the original series seemed to be filling in on their own. He could roughly guess who was behind it.

After signing a series of authorization documents, Jack flew back to LA the same day. Instead of heading home, he went straight to Chinatown.

The three-month preparation period had been carefully considered. For a condition like Asperger's syndrome, psychological issues required more than just superficial massage treatments like he used on Hunter. The psychological suggestion strength was clearly insufficient, so Jack decided to develop a new skill—acupuncture.

Of course, he wouldn't waste system coins on it. Self-learning to a basic level, mastering the techniques and acupoints, should suffice for appearances. He placed his hopes on the magical healing skills and psychology skills granted by the system.

However, with only 10 system coins, he had to choose between upgrading one of them. Either he would spend all 10 coins to get his first master-level skill in healing, or spend 5 to get proficient in psychology.

Initially, he planned to prioritize the master-level healing skill, but Jack had no certainty about Asperger's syndrome. What if the healing skill was ineffective?

He had tested the healing skill on himself, and it had no effect on genetic defects like moles unless the affected skin was removed and then healed. If the problem lay in brain nerves, he couldn't exactly decapitate someone and hope the skill would regenerate their head. Even if master-level healing could regenerate limbs, it couldn't bring someone back to life.
