Chapter 97

"BOY! WHAT WAS THAT? ANSWER ME NOW OR I WILL TAKE IT THAT YOU JUST TRIED TO KILL MY GOLDY! THIS WAS AND IS ONLY A BATTLE TO DETERMINE YOUR QUALITIES AS A TRAINER. A TEST. BUT THAT MOVE WAS TOO LETHAL FOR ANY 'TEST~'!" Evans roared and unleashed the full force of his pressure, its weight bearing down on a boy old enough to be his grandson in its entirety.

"Ugh. Hot tempered geezer." Gritting his teeth from the pressure physically weighing him down to the point that his feet sunk into the hard marble floor, Jax whispered that out in protest before calming down.

From his position, he was just doing whatever it took to win this battle but if he looked at it from Evans' perspective, he could see and even sympathize why the old man was getting so mad. 'If someone had used such a move against my own pokemons, my family, I would have already gone apeshit on them, much less ask them.'

"Enough, Evans. It's unsightly for someone old enough to be his grandfather acting more like a brat than he is. Ease up on your pressure and then we can talk about the other matters." Leon, as a trainer, was also curious behind that powerful attack but as a master, much less, this brat in question's master, he still had to hold off on his questions and protect his student. Besides that, he was scared about his student's other master more than what a rookie veteran trainer could do!

BOOM!

Before anything else happened, the gorgeous ceiling with its tall arches and grandiose painting much like the ones in the Sistine Chapel came crashing down and in floated a petite, black-haired lady. 'Sigh, I was hoping she wouldn't be around. Today just isn't my lucky day it seems.'

As the mysterious lady glided through the air and softly landed on the battleground directly between Evans and Jax, the pressure that was weighing down on his shoulders magically disappeared. The magma that was threatening to overtake the whole ground receded back into the cracks and pieces of stones flew from everywhere filling them up.

Doing a full 360-degree turn, the newcomer surveyed everyone inside the building before turning towards the boy who had straightened out his back. "Who's bullying you? Tell your master and I'll make them regret ever being born."

"Master!" Jax was incredibly excited to see his psychic master here. He had no clue why or even how she came here so fast from the capital but none of that mattered. What mattered was that she was here and from the sound of things, she was not going to let anyone bully him!

"Mhm. I heard about your gym battle today so I flew over from the capital yesterday. In fact, I've been observing your with the Mind's Eye since the moment you reached the gates outside. Who knew that when I went to the bathroom, things would have escalated to this degree?" Saying her piece, she turned towards the audience and squinted her eyes at a tall man with a flowing scarlet cape and indigo hair.

"Cough! Hey, Sabrina. Wow, what a surprise! What are you doing here?"

"Shut it, Leon. You think I wouldn't know that someone as accomplished as you in aura, accomplished enough to have become a Guardian, wouldn't have noticed me around?"

"Busted, huh? Well, your aura did disappear so I thought you left. Besides that I-"

"Shh! I don't care what your excuses are. I just want to know what you're letting this geezer bully our student. MY student?"

"I was just about to reprimand him before you came crashing in! I swear!"

Not reply, Sabrina just kept quiet and pierced Leon with her deathly stare. Sometimes, silence could be even more terrifying than the hollowest screams imaginable to man. Turning towards the Bob the builder lookalike, Sabrina only uttered one thing, "If you have a problem with my student, come find me," before floating back out of the hole she made in the roof.

Everything happened so fast that Evans didn't know which one to comment on first. The one thing he did know was that that lady who decimated his Gym's roof was Sabrina, a powerful level 9, possibly even level 10 psychic! She was way out of his league and from the clues he pieced together, the man she was talking to, Leon, was the boy's master! Who was Leon? Everyone knew who he was! Best in the world! Strongest trainer of the century! Undefeated Galarian Champion!

Wanting to cry but having no one to complain to, Evans knew that his questions would not be finding any answers today so he could only let them go. Since Sabrina partially restored the battleground, he could not even use that as an excuse to end the Gym challenge for today! With no other choice, he summoned his third and final pokemon, Bastiodon!

"Sigh. Come, boy. Let's finish this battle. I'm exhausted and my tired bones want to rest."

Looking at Vioarr, Jax could see that he had used up too much energy in that last attack and was in need of a rest too. Taking out a ball, Jax pretended to recall him but instead actually sent Vioarr into the sub-space where it would be more comfortable and that way, he could observe from the inside how the rest of the battle went.

"You probably won't believe me but even I didn't know how powerful that move was going to be. I do sincerely apologize and hope that Onix didn't sustain too heavy of an injury. Mhm. Meet my second and newest pokemon, Lancelot."

Shing!

When the loyal knight came out of his ball (unsummoned from sub-space), the crowd murmured in amazement. Paldea was still a newly discovered region and not much was known about it or the pokemon that inhabit that particular region. Coming out of their stupor, all the reporters started flashing their cameras again at this never before seen pokemon! Another scoop!

"Ha…Lancelot, ignore them. Just focus on doing your best like how you've always done."

"Of course, my liege. I will fight even if it means sacrificing myself to bring you this victory."
