Chapter 42

Since class was cancelled for the rest of the day, Jax, Ally and their parents all went back to their own houses. Jax was let off easily by his mother since it wasn't even that long ago that the two talked about something eerily similar to today's events. What Jax was more worried about was how to face Ally. For some reason, she was giving him the cold shoulder. If before she was a sweet and shy girl that reminded someone of spring, now she resembled the frigid winter winds blowing through your bones. 'It's probably because I hugged her. I'll have to call her later. Mommy should have Mrs. Clementine's number.'

Once the duo were back home, Jax gave Mrs. Clementine a call hoping she could pass the Pokephone over to Ally. Sadly, Hannah informed him that Ally didn't want to talk to him at the moment. Sighing, Jax couldn't do anything but back off. Like he said, a clingy, desperate guy isn't desirable. Still feeling a little drowsy, Jax went to bed after a light snack that his mother forced him to eat saying it would be good for his body.

The next day, Jax was called to the Headmaster's office before the school bell even rang. Now that he knew who the headmaster was, Jax raised his guard up as much as he could. 'Headmaster Leon. The Galarian Champion and someone who hasn't been defeated even once since his debut as a trainer at the age of 10 years old. His Charizard is already a huge threat but Leon's play style is even more so. Even if he's already a powerful trainer, he still plays cautiously and doesn't take unnecessary moves, not even dropping his guard when the opponent's pokemon has fainted. Gigantamaxing his Charizard at the start of the battle, Leon ensures a swift defeat for his enemies. Sigh, and that type of man wants to meet me.'

Opening the door leading into the office space, Jax didn't have any time to observe its interior as his gaze was focused completely ahead of himself. Sitting down behind a giant. mahogany desk with a matching chair, sat the man Jax least wanted to meet right now. If he could, Jax would have kept his head down and looked at the floor instead, but the man had so much presence that it forced everyone's attention to focus only on him.

"Sorry for calling you to my office so early in the day."

"Mhm, if you're sorry then you shouldn't have done it in the first place. Well, I'll make my way back to homeroom! Bye!"

With that, Jax left this office space with a quick turn and once he was out in the hallway, sprinted back towards his classroom. The man left alone in the office just looked at the door that the boy just bolted through, noticing his silver-grey hair and light grey, almost white eyes with a golden hue. Smirking to himself, Leon was in a very good mood. Who knew that he would actually look forward to being the headmaster of this stiff place one day? The reason he went on so many missions outside of the region was strictly because he didn't want to do any official headmaster duties, but now, he's changed his mind.

"HAHAHA! That brat is so much like his dad, I almost reflexively hit in on the head. If I had done that, Doria would have stormed this school and burned it down trying to find me. Sigh. Yeah, these are gong to be some fun 4 years! HAHAHA!"

Once Jax was back at homeroom, the bell chimed signaling the start of the school day. After all the students were accounted for, everyone made their way towards the battlegrounds. For those who've already lost, they could either come to school and watch the rest of the battles, meet with one of their teachers on sight, or do their own external training outside of the school. Since this was the first ever Competition happening for these children, many of them opted to attend even if they were already knocked out.

The staff spent the whole night discussing about Jax and how they should deal with him; the consensus, Jax violated no school rules and Aina clearly surrendered before the headmaster had to step in. The were all in consensus that Jax had officially won both of his battles the previous day and as such, would be eligible to move up the ladder.

Upon hearing the news, Jax raised a hand in a triumphant pose before turning towards Ally and beaming her a bright smile. He had still kept his promise with her! Wanting to share the good news with the other party of his promise, Jax turned around locking eyes with Ally. Instead of acknowledging him, she just turned her heard away after letting out an audible "HMPH!" loud enough to make it obvious that she wanted a certain boy to notice that she was annoyed at him.

Laughing at her antics, Jax just left her be while he prepared for his next battle. Because of what happened during his second match on the previous day, many of the students who were supposed to fight yesterday weren't able to so this morning with spent with matches that were supposed to have past already. Surprisingly, the stuck-up boy, um…oh yeah! George! George Adams. He actually didn't past the second round of elimination. The trainer who beat him was a girl named Evelyn with her Frogadier! An actual Royal pokemon!

Royal pokemon were hardly ever found in the wild. The reason for this was because most of them were simply too powerful to be left to do their own bidding. They had higher base stats than most pokemon but were still docile enough to be given out to 10 years old children while they were in their base evolution phase. Sure there are pseudo-legendaries out there, but they are usually arrogant by nature. Give on to a 10 years old child and pre-evolution or not, that child will just become a snack unless they're one of the few chosen ones.

Looking at the Frogadier who was the evolution of Froakie, Jax was immediately jealous. ASH-GRENINJA! The first time pokemon fans realized that pokemon could change depending on their environment and their friendship level with their trainers. No other pokemon has had the same success as Ash's Greninja but the possibility was still there! 'Mhm their trainer was actually able to beat someone I had my eyes on, they're definitely the real deal. I'll add them to the list of students to look out for in the future.'

Noticing that Jax was no longer looking at her but staring at another girl instead, Ally immediately started fuming. 'Stupid, Jax! I don't talk to you for one day and you find someone new! Mommy was right! All men are the same! It doesn't matter who, they just want a girl!'
