Chapter 40

The referee had already declared that Jax had won the battle but the Nidorino was still charging his move with no indication of stopping. Sensing that something was wrong, the referee blew their whistle and raised his right arm straight up over his head. It was the warning signal telling that which ever arm was raised, that side's trainer was in violation of a rule and could be forced to surrender. Seeing as how the Nidorino still wasn't stopping whatever move it was charging, the referee was about to summon his own pokemon when the young boy to his right ran out into the middle of the battlefield towards his pokemon.

"Vioarr! Stop! We won!"

"I-I can't! I'm stopping the energy flow but it's continuing to draw from me without my permission! I can stall it for 1, no 2 more minutes tops! Tell everyone to get away! Ugh this is why tactic Square 1 is banned!"

"Ref! Tell everyone to clear the area! This is out of my control now! I don't want anyone else caught up in the blast radius!"

Hearing and acknowledging the young boy who was responsible for this situation, the referee summoned out their own pokemon, a Poliwrath, and proceeded to escort the closest student to him away, which was Aina, from the duo. Alerting the rest of the staff, everyone stood as far away from Battlefield 1 as they could get. After a short 2 minutes passed that felt more like 2 hours, the energy around human and lizard finally reached the peak! The move was about to be casted! With bated breath, staff and students alike held their breath and covered their ears expecting a huge explosion.

BOOM!

The after blast of the move was so powerful that a huge dust storm was kicked up into the air that was no different from the move Sandstorm. Everyone on sight stared in the direction of where Battlefield 1 used to be trying to pierce through the dark cloud of dust to see if the human boy and purple lizard were okay. What they saw was an even more shocking scene.

A man was standing, arm outstretched, his cape blown off to who knows where, in front of the culprit responsible for the dust cloud. Leon arrived in the nick of time and using his aura, controlled the clashing energy within the Nidorino to a more controlled state before allowing the power to explode! As the one who controlled the chaotic energy and the one who directed that same energy, Leon took the brunt of the attack head on. Shaking his head, he stared down at the silver-haired boy and the boy's scaly partner who were both unconscious at his feet. 'Tsk. You create this mess and I have to be the one to clean it up. If you weren't a Skyborne, I would have fed you to my Charizard.'

After checking up with everyone in the vicinity, Headmaster Leon issued a state of emergency and cancelled classes and competition for the day. Everyone was disappointed but understanding of the situation. As everyone went off to do their own afterschool activities, a certain platinum-blonde haired girl stopped by the school infirmary. Ally came to visit Jax right after getting off the phone with her parents and letting them know she would be coming home late. She also told them to inform Mrs. Skyborne that her son was in the infirmary but that she had nothing to worry about as Ally would be with him the whole time.

Sitting down on a chair next to the bed, Ally grabbed one of Jax's hands and shedding some soft tears. While Jax didn't know, Ally was actually watching his match since she already beat her opponent while he was battling his first one. The reason for the tears flowing down her face was because she heard Jax's resolution about keeping his promise with her and that's why he even ended up in this state. Although she knew that she really wasn't the cause of Jax's current situation and it was solely his fault, she still felt a little guilty inside. After shedding more silent tears, the exhaustion from battling the whole day plus the varying degrees of emotions she felt today finally caught up to her. Unbeknownst to our little lady, her head started drooping until she was laying on the same arm that she was still holding onto.

After receiving a call from her now friend, Doria thought that Hannah was calling about setting up another playdate for their children only to be met with horrible news. Her son was lying unconscious in the infirmary! Even though Hannah reassured Doria that her little Ally would be right by Jax's side, Doria still felt uneasy inside and decided to head off towards the school. 'UGH! That boy! It's one thing after another with him! It wasn't even a week ago that I had to save him from certain death! This is why I wanted a little girl, instead! He takes after his father too much!'

Riding atop Arcanine again, Doria rushed off towards the school's direction. Since the school was only 15 minutes away by car/bus, Arcanine was able to get there in 5 minutes. Upon feeling two powerful auras approaching his school's gates, Headmaster Leon felt another headache threatening to tear his head apart. 'Why's she coming to the school? Wait, duh, her son. Now I'm actually worried for him instead.' Thinking so, Headmaster Leon still decided to welcome his unexpected but much welcomed guests into his academy.

"Why are you here!?"

"I could ask you the same thing, Doria."

"Hmph, I got a call that this school was no good and that they allowed my son to be injured. Now I'm on my way to visit him in the infirmary."

With his brows twitching, Headmaster Leon could only shake his head. "This 'no good' school you speak of belongs to yours, truly. I am currently the residing Headmaster of this nation's most prestigious academy."

"Prestigious academy, huh? Tell me, then, Mr. Prestigious, how did my son end up so injured that he couldn't even return home after classes?"

"Ahem, well…" Recounting what he had observed from where he was watching the battles take place from his office window, Headmaster Leon could only explain that he tried the best he could to mitigate the damages to the surrounding areas, people and pokemon.

"Oh, so you're telling me the grass and tress are more important than my son!?"
