As it was the weekend, Jax didn't have any classes today but he had no desire to go out and train either. Making up and excuse about how rest was equally as important as training, he spent his morning doing light exercise and training his physic abilities by doing the same ball practice. By now, Jax could lift heavier objects with just his mind but that only pertains to anything 50 pounds or lighter. Sighing, Jax wondered when he would be able to use telekinesis on himself so that he could fly through the sky.
After his daily routine, Jax exited his room to go chat with his mother. Listening to her recount her battle with a foe he had no hope of winning against, Jax reevaluated how he saw his mother. He already looked at how strong Arcanine was last year, but he didn't realize his mother was the sole party responsible for making Arcanine so strong. 'Mhm! Mommy is actually an amazing trainer who might not even lose out to the Elite Four!' With that thought, Jax clung to his mother and followed her wherever she went.
"Mhm, since you have no classes today and it's been awhile since the two of us hang out, why don't we go to downtown and look around at some stores? Mommy has some things she needs to register at the auction house, as well."
"Really, really!? Okay! Let me go get my bag and then we can set off!" In his excitement, Jax tripped over his own legs running back to his room causing his mother to give an unladylike laugh.
The downtown area was a comfortable 30-minute car ride from their house, so it was neither too long of a drive nor too short of one. As this was Jax's first time downtown, everything blew his mind away! 'A store selling pokemon? What!? Is that a gambling den? The jackpot is a Platinum grade Magikarp!? WOW!' Only now did he realize that the anime, games, and manga didn't show all there was to the pokemon world, or maybe this was exclusive to Kalpotron? Either way, Jax was excited to just spend the day out with his favorite human.
"Jax, honey, let's stop by the auction house first. I have to sell the Metagross and Beldum parts that I got last time."
While telling his mother and the group about what the duo went through, he also explained that the reason the steel family was so mad was because he took one of their eggs! At first, Doria thought about giving the parts she harvested to Jax since his eventual Beldum could use them and the money from selling the parts didn't make much difference to her. After thinking about it, Jax refuted her proposal. No matter how much he hated the family of eight, he didn't wish to feed his pokemon its own family member's body parts. The egg would hatch one day and Jax had no doubt in his mind that they would grow to be as close as he was with Vioarr. If he fed his new little sibling the corpse of its own family members, Jax didn't know how he could look at his sibling in the eyes.
Arriving at the auction house, Jax read the sign hanging above the double doors: Stone Family's House of Auction. Shocked, Jax rubbed his eyes again just to make sure he read the sign correctly. No matter how many times he checked and double checked, the sign still read: Devon Corporation's House of Auction. The reason Jax was so surprised was because he knew this conglomerate! If it's the same one he knew from the games in his past life, this was Steven Stone's family's company! Who was Steven Stone? Duh! The Champion of the Hoenn region's Pokemon League! The sole heir of the president of the biggest mining company that even rivals Silph Co.!
'No way! I have to see if it's the same as my past life! I know they dealt with rare minerals and ores, but I didn't know they would have an auction house!' With that thought, Jax urged his mother to hurry into the building.
The interior was just as nice if not better than the exterior of the construct. Soft velvet drapes separated to show floor-to-ceiling windows, a high ceiling with a hanging chandelier, and wool carpeting to make sure guests' feet didn't hurt as they stood in the lobby. The finishing touches looked like they were made of gold and even the edges of the tables, chairs, and couches had the same finishing with gems imbedded every now and then. No one would look at this place and think that the current Devon Corporation used to just be a small company at the edge of Rustboro City.
"Hello, beautiful madam and handsome, young sir. How may I help you today?"
Turning to look at who was speaking to them, the mother-son duo came upon a handsome young man with light, blue hair wearing an expensive looking suit. 'It's him! It's definitely him! He looks just like he does in the games!' Jax was sure now that he looked at the young man standing in front of them. Steven Stone, in the flesh, was talking to the perplexed mother and excited son.
"Are you talking to us?"
"Mhm, I don't see anyone else as beautiful or young as you two in this lobby."
With the light banter, Doria relaxed her expression and stated her reason for being here today. Being a veteran trainer, she knew the worth of the materials she had in her possession and thought that the young man in front of her would be too inexperienced to know what he was dealing with.
"I have premium steel-type pokemon parts I would like to sell or auction. I don't know if you have any experience dealing with this large of a transaction before?"
Not taking her doubt personally, the young man introduced himself. "Haha. No worries. I actually get that quite a lot. Let me introduce myself, first. I'm Steven, son of Joseph Stone and an aspiring trainer. Although lacking in many ways, I have a keen eye when it comes to all things minerals, ores, and steel-type pokemon."
Realizing who the young man in front of her was, Doria expressed her sorry for doubting his capabilities. Trusting the next president of Devon Corporation, she took out the parts that she came here today to either sell off directly to the auction house if they quote her a good price or auction it herself if the earnings to be had was more than the quoted price. Looking at the materials, Steven was shocked and ushered the duo into a private room.
