Chapter 42

While the top lane was having an intense fight, it was a stalemate at the bottom lane. They were waiting for the pokemon cluster to spawn at the three minute mark and for their junglers to arrive to tip the balance.

Jin was already nearby and was just hiding in the shadows. The enemy, Camerupt, had arrived and was already at their goal. Team Snowflake was probably planning to push altogether.

As soon as the pokemon cluster had spawned, Camerupt, Quagsire and Glalie used Earthquake simultaneously, thus, creating a massive attack. Pangoro used its own Earthquake while Sylveon used Copy Cat to create another Earthquake. The double Earthquake gave enough time for both pokemon, Pangoro and Sylveon, to fall back. But the triple Earthquake was too strong and Team Snowflake was able to take the entire pokemon cluster.

Jin moved closer during the clash and warped through the shadows to aim for Glalie, then he used Toxic and Glalie got poisoned badly. Team Snowflake tried to counter attack but missed, since Jin immediately hid back to the shadows to dodge them.

Pangoro instantly charged at the distracted opponents using Bulldoze. Camerupt was the first to react and used Heavy Slam to counter. Pangoro kept a hold on Camerupt when they both clashed then Pangoro used Circle Throw to zone Camerupt out and threw it far away from the team clash. Quagsire and Glalie tried to help Camerupt but they were pushed back by Sylveon's Dazzling Gleam.

When Camerupt was thrown quite far, Team Checkmate had the opportunity to deal with the other remaining pokemon.

Quagsire used After You to force Pangoro and Sylveon to attack it. Jin, was unaffected since he was still lurking in the shadows. This gave time for Glalie to recover from being poisoned. Glalie used Rest and immediately went to sleep to get rid of the poison. Jin was waiting for this moment, he went out of the shadows and used Dream Eater repeatedly on the sleeping Glalie.

Team Snowflake was alarmed as they totally forgot about Jin. They shouldn't have had ordered Glalie to use Rest. It only made Glalie a sitting duck.

Quagsire was unable to help because its hands were full in dealing with two pokemon. They hoped that Camerupt would get back to them soon. As a result, those few seconds felt like eternity for Team Snowflake.

Glalie was using Sleep Talk in its sleep but was still unlucky. Most of its attacks were of Normal Type and didn't affect Jin. The rest of the opponents' attacks were being tanked by Jin and he used Dream Eater to recover himself from time to time.

Just as things were not getting any better for Team Snowflake, they heard the announcement that Dragonair had been knocked out of battle, followed by another notification that Glalie had fainted.

By the time Camerupt reached Quagsire, they were given a command to retreat. As they were about to run away, Jin was a step faster ahead of them and used Mean Look on Quagsire. They were forced to fight back. Team Snowflake instructed the top to rush to the bottom lane to help the trapped pokemon. But it was too late. They were being chased by Toshi, Prinplup and Espeon which caused a delay.

A few minutes later, before help could arrive, they heard an announcement that Camerupt and Quagsire were both knocked out. Team Snowflake had no choice but to concede defeat.

The crowd cheered. It was an intense fight. Team Checkmate was relentless and didn't give Team Snowflake a chance.

"Gosh! If I had a 'pseudo-legendary', I would have never lost! tsk... tsk..." Woody purposely said before turning off his communications in order for Team Snowflake to hear him. Team Snowflake started it first and Team Checkmate just returned in kind.

Maria's face was beet red. She felt anger and embarrassment, but her teammates consoled her and that second place was not so bad after all.
