Chapter 50: The Ultimate Test

(One day, everyone happily shouts.)

Everyone: "Let's eat!"

(And soon, everyone begins to eat their sandwiches.)

(Misty then asks.)

Misty: "You know, you haven't gotten a badge in a long time, Mew. You think you'll ever get another one?"

(Mew swallows her sandwich and says.)

Mew: "Well, it's still far to get to Cinnabar Island, so probably not for a while. With all the trainers I've been battling as of late, I've been gaining skills, especially. And you've been helping me train my Water Type Pokemon too."

Misty: "That's true. But excluding me and the other trainers, how much skill does it take to beat Team Rocket?"

(Misty replies.)

(Mew giggles.)

Mew: "Yeah. They don't do well in battling, especially with us."

Todd: "So I guess you'll be using Water Type Pokemon for the Cinnabar Gym,"

(Todd says.)

Mew: "Yeah. Cinnabar Island is a Fire Type gym so Misty has been helping me with my Water Pokemon,"

(Mew says.)

Brock: "So which you're going to choose?"

(Brock asks.)

Mew: "I haven't decided yet,"

(Mew says.)

(Suddenly, Todd has an idea.)

Todd: "Hey Mew, why don't you just get yourself admitted?"

Mew: "Uh, admitted?"

(Mew says, confused.)

Todd: "Take the Pokémon League Admissions Exam,"

(Todd says.)

Mew: "The Pokémon League…"

(Mew says, confused.)

Misty: "Admissions Exam?"

(Misty adds, just as confused.)

Pikachu: "Pika?" (What's that?)

(Pikachu asks.)

Togepi: "Togepi?" (What is it?)

(Togepi asks.)

Eevee: "Eevee?" (What is it?)

(Eevee asks.)

Mew: "So what is it?"

(Mew asks.)

Todd: "It's a place where people are able to take an exam and those who pass get to be admitted to the Pokemon League. You seem to know a lot about Pokemon, so I think you can pass the test with no trouble,"

(Todd says.)

Mew: "It sounds kind of boring. I like to travel to gather badges and have battles,"

(Mew says, not very impressed.)

Misty: "Maybe you should give it a try?"

(Misty suggests.)

Brock: "You can learn more about being a trainer that way, and probably learn more about Pokemon,"

(Brock says.)

Tomo: "I think you'll do great,"

(Tomo says.)

(Mew thinks a bit and says.)

Mew: "Okay, I'll give it a try."

(Mew and the others follow Todd to the Pokemon League Admissions Center for the Admissions test.)

(There, they meet with the Head Instructor of the course.)

Head instructor: "Here at the Pokemon League Admissions Center, we evaluate applicants based on the combined written and practical skills exam. And those who pass receive this badge,"

(The Head instructor says.)

(Then holds a badge saying.)

Head instructor: "Qualifying them for the Pokemon League."

(Mew and the others are in awe to see the badge.)

Head instructor: "Take this,"

(The instructor says and gives Mew a tag that has the number seven on it.)

Head instructor: "It's your testing number."

Mew: "Thank you,"

(Mew says, taking the tag.)

(Suddenly, someone says in distress.)

???: "Oh no! I wanted number seven!"

(Mew places the tag on her shirt, but notices a stranger watching her.)

(She turns her head to see the person.)

(When the stranger notices her, she sheepishly turns to her paper so she can fill it out.)

(She says as she writes.)

???: "Age, seventeen. Profession, diva."

(Mew thinks.)

Mew [in mind]: "Is that Jessie from Team Rocket? What is she doing here?"

(Misty looks around and says.)

Misty: "Wow, look at all the different kinds of people showing up for the exam!

Mew: "Yeah. I'm guessing this place is kind of popular,"

(Mew says.)

(Brock soon notices Nurse Joy and falls in love.)

Brock: "Oh, Nurse Joy!"

Mew: "Yeah, but which one?"

(Mew questions.)

(The group is about to leave.)

(Just then, the Instructor says.)

Head instructor: "Just a minute! You'll have to leave your Pokeballs here with me."

Mew: "Why?" Mew asks.

Head instructor: "You're not permitted to use your own Pokemon during the exam,"

(The instructor says.)

Mew: "Um, okay. But is it alright if my friends watch my Pokemon instead?"

(Mew answers.)

Head instructor: "But of course. Good luck Ms. Mew,"

(The instructor says.)

(Mew removes her backpack and gives it to Tomo while Pikachu and Eevee sit next to Misty.)

(Soon, Mew and the others meet up with Nurse Joy as Todd takes pictures.)

Mew: "So you wanna become a Pokémon master too, huh Nurse Joy?"

(Mew asks.)

Nurse Joy: "Well, it has always been a dream of mine,"

(Joy happily says.)

(Still head over heels, Brock asks.)

Brock: "So uh, where are you from Nurse Joy?"

Nurse Joy: "I'm Nurse Joy of the Fuchsia City, Joy's sister to the Vermilion City Joy's,"

(Joy answers.)

Brock: "Ah, you're the most beautiful one yet!"

(Brock says with his cheeks flushed.)

Misty: "That's what you always say Brock,"

(Misty comments.)

Togepi: "Tokipriiii!" (Brock looks funny!)

(Togepi happily says.)

Nurse Joy: "I came here for the exam because my work keeps me too busy to travel very much,"

(Joy explains.)

(Brock quickly nods her head.)

Brock: "Uh huh, uh huh."

Misty: "This exam is really a great idea,"

(Misty says.)

Nurse Joy: "Yes. It's perfect for people who's age or health keeps them from traveling around,"

(Joy explains.)

(Brock nods his head.)

Brock: "Uh huh, uh huh."

(Joy then adds.)

Nurse Joy: "And it's also nice for people like me who can't ever seem to get away from work."

Brock: "I can feel it! I'm sure you're gonna pass the test!"

(Brock happily says.)

Nurse Joy: "I hope you're right,"

(Joy happily says, embarrassed.)

(Todd walks over and says.)

Todd: "That's make a nice human interest shot!"

(Mew giggles and says.)

Mew: "Save your film for Pokémon."

(Soon, Mew and Todd turn their heads to see a familiar boy.)

(wearing round glasses and a school uniform of some kind.)

(The boy sees Mew, quickly turns around, and quickly leaves.)

(Mew thinks.)

Mew [in mind]: "Wait a minute, is that James from Team Rocket? First Jessie and Now James. But, what are they doing at the exam?"

(The boy then passes the paper to the instructor.)

???: "Here's the exam form."

instructor: "Fine. Let's see. Your name is James,"

(The man says, taking and looking at the exam.)

(The boy reveals to be James, panicking.)

James: "Will you please keep it down?"

(The girl from before turns her head and asks.)

???: "Is that?"

James: "Hey! Get lost, old bat!"

(James says, trying to get her to shoo.)

(But the girl feels offended.)

???; "Old?! Bat?!"

(With that, she drags him outside with rage as James panics.)

(James panics.)

James: "What are you?! Unhand me, you! Please, let me go! Come on!"

(The stranger drops James to the ground and removes her glasses.)

???: "So, I'm an old bat, am I?!"

(James stands up and says.)

James: "You're Jessie! That outfit is atrocious!"

Jessie: "And what are you doing here?"

(Jessie asks, putting her glasses on.)

James: "What am I doing here? Well, truth to tell, I, not unlike many other people, dream of becoming a Pokemon master. Make fun if you must!"

(James says, determined and laughs.)

Jessie: "No, you're doing just fine on your own,"

(Jessie comments.)

James: "I want to live my dream instead of my.. My reality,"

(James says.)

(Jessie calmly says.)

Jessie: "I can see why."

(James turns to Jessie and asks.)

James: "What's your reason for being here?"

Jessie: "I simply wanted to add another talent to my very impressive and extensive resume. As you know, I'm already an accomplished hostess, florist, costume designer, wine expert, beautician, style consultant. In fact, one of the only things I'm not.."

(Jessie says.)

(But before Jessie can finish, Meowth appears and finishes Jessie's sentence.)

Meowth: "Is a Pokemon master!"

(Jessie and James panic and startled.)

Jessie and James: "Meowth?!"

Jessie: "What are you doing here?!"

(Jessie asks, frightened.)

Meowth: "Looking for you. The one who suddenly remembered an important engagement,"

(Meowth then.)

(He turns to Jessie.)

Meowth: "This seems suspiciously unlike a visit to your sick uncle's bedside."

(Then turns to James.)

Meowth: "And I thought you had a dental appointment."

James: "Well, I…"

(James says, weary.)

(Then calmly says.)

James: "It was just such a beautiful day.."

Jessie: "We decided to have a picnic,"

(Jessie adds.)

Meowth: "Don't try to fool me!"

(Meowth angrily says and scratches both their eyes.)

(Then demands.)

Meowth: "Come clean, what are you doing here?"

Jessie: "Mind your own business!"

(Jessie says in rage.)

(James brings out a yarn ball and says.)

Jessie: "Take this and leave us alone!"

(Then tosses it and Meowth begins to chase after it.)

(That causes Jessie and James to make a break for it.)

Jessie: "Hurry up!"

(Jessie panics.)

James: "The exam's about to start!"

(James adds.)

(Soon enough, Mew, along with Jessie and James are in the exam room to take the test.)

instructor: "The first test will measure your overall knowledge of Pokemon! Ready? Begin!"

(The instructor says.)

(Mew nods her head.)

(Then Lickitung appears on the screen.)

Computer: "Lickitung's tongue is twice the length of it's body. True or false?"

Mew: "Hmm, I remember seeing Lickitung when Jessie caught it. And even the Pokedex said that it's more than twice the length of its body. So it has to be false,"

(Mew says and presses the button.)

(Then the computer shows Vulpix and says.)

Computer: "A Kanto Region Ninetales evolves from A Kanto Region Vulpix only by use of a Fire Stone. True or False?"

Mew [in mind]: "That's true,"

(Mew thinks and presses the true button.)

(The computer shows Hitmonlee on the screen.)

Computer: "Hitmonlee is also known as 'The Punching Demon.'"

(Mew thinks.)

Mew [in mind]: "Hitmonlee is known as the Kicking Fiend while Hitmonchan is known as the Punching Demon. I've seen them before."

(Mew then presses false.)

(The computer says as it shows a picture of Magikarp.)

Computer: "The only attack Magikarp originally knows is Splash. True or False?"

(Meanwhile, Jessie and James continue to take the exams.)

(In fact, Jessie is only pressing true on all the questions.)

(Time has gone by and the second exam is about to begin.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "Now, we will measure your ability to recognize Pokemon! Please name the Pokemon by identifying its silhouette or any part of its body as it is displayed here!"

Mew [in mind]: "So I have to remember a Pokemon's appearance, silhouette or any of its body parts,"

(Mew thinks.)

instructor: "Here's the first question,"

(The instructor says.)

(Just then a black circle appears on the screen.)

Computer: "Identify this Pokemon."

Mew [in mind]: "Hmm, it could be a Voltord or an Electrode, but that seems too obvious. Hmm, maybe I need to focus on their point of view,"

(Mew thinks.)

(Then remembers.)

Mew [in mind]: "Wait, Misty's Jigglypuff is round from a top view."

(Then taps on the screen and has a picture of a Jigglypuff.)

(James answers.)

James: "Ah, how simple. It's a Pokeball, without a doubt."

(Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Obviously, it's an Electrode."

(Hearing James and Jessie, Mew thinks.)

Mew [in mind]: "An Electrode is a good guess, but a Pokeball…"

instructor: "And the answer is a.. Jigglypuff seen from above,"

(The instructor says, the answer is soon shown on the screen.)

(Mew blinks her eyes in surprise because she has the right answer.)

(James and Jessie nearly fall out of their seats in disbelief that they have the wrong answer.)

instructor: "Next question. What Pokemon displays this pattern?"

(The instructor says.)

(Then shows a swirl that starts from the right.)

(James answers.)

James: "It must be an Omanyte shell!"

Jessie: "It's an Arbok when it's all coiled up."

(Jessie says.)

Mew: "Hmm, the only Pokemon with those patterns is Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Poliwrath. Back when Poliwhirl was Poliwag, it used to have that pattern, so it has to be it,"

(Mew says, selecting Poliwag.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "The correct answer: Poliwag."

(Jessie and James fall out of their seats in disbelief.)

(Mew simply smiles to have the right answer again.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "As any master would know, when Poliwag evolves into Poliwhirl, the swirl on its stomach reverses direction."

(The rest of the gang are watching through the glass window.)

Misty: "Hey, this is hard,"

(Misty says.)

Brock: "And it's getting harder by the minute!"

(Brock says.)

Pikachu: "Pika," (No joke.)

(Pikachu says.)

Misty: "Hope Mew will do fine,"

(Misty says.)

Eevee: "Eevee," (Me too.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "Question fifteen: What Pokemon does this tail belong to?"

(Then it shows a picture of a tail flame.)

Mew: "Hmm. Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard have a flame on their tail. And so does Ponyta and Rapidash… This one is a tricky one,"

(Mew says, and thinks.)

(Mew looks at the tail carefully and thinks.)

Mew [in mind]: "The tail flame on the screen seems longer and wavy. It doesn't look like a tail flame of Charmander and it's evolution forms, and Rapidash tail is very large. So I think it's a Ponyta's, I remember Lara had one like it, before it evolved. Even Tomo has a Ponyta."

(Then Mew selects her answer.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "The answer is. Ponyta."

Mew [in mind]: "Hmm, these questions are really hard. Yet, it's understandable that a trainer needs to pay close attention to a Pokemon's appearance,"

(Mew thinks.)

(But her thoughts are interrupted when Jessie snaps in rage.)

Jessie: "Can't you ask me a question that I know that answer to?!"

(That makes Mew and the others turn their heads in surprise.)

instructor: "Please take your seat!"

(the instructor says.)

(Jessie angrily says.)

Jessie: "This is a joke! These stupid questions won't make you a Pokemon master!"

(The Head instructor sternly says.)

Head instructor: "For your information, young lady, a Pokemon master must understand all aspects of their Pokemon's life in order to achieve oneness with their Pokemon!"

Jessie: "You're not making any sense at all! I'm through with this!"

(Jessie yells and angrily walks to the door.)

(The instructor angrily says.)

instructor: "Get out!"

(Jessie takes off her tag and throws it to the ground.)

Jessie: "I can't wait to go!"

(Then leaves as she slams the door.)

James: "But, Jessie, I.."

(James says, concerned.)

Nurse Joy: "Dear, what a shame,"

(Nurse Joy sadly says.)

(Mew thinks.)

Mew [in mind]: "And I guess it helps me observe human behavior. That's Jessie alright."

(Outside of the building, Meowth is sleeping next to the ball of strength after finishing playing.)

(That's when Jessie comes up to him.)

Jessie: "Hey!"

(Jessie angrily shouts.)

(She kicks him and says.)

Jessie: "Let's go!"

Meowth: "Where am I going?"

(Meowth asks.)

Jessie: "You're going with me, to help me get my revenge!"

(Jessie says in full rage.)

(Meanwhile in the testing building, Mew walks over and meets the others.)

Brock: "How was the test?"

(Brock asks.)

Mew: "It was very hard, but I think I did okay. I didn't realize that trainers have to pay extra close attention to Pokemon's appearance,"

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Well, the important thing is that you did okay,"

(Misty says.)

Tomo: "I think you did great,"

(Tomo says.)

Mew: "Thank you, Tomo."

(Mew says.)

(Soon, the scoreboard begins to lower down and show the score.)

Misty: "Here comes the scoreboard!"

(Misty says.)

(Everyone looks at the scoreboard to see for themselves.)

Misty: "The ones on the right got the lowest scores, and the ones on the left got the highest,"

(Misty says.)

(Brock then notices.)

Brock: "Look, Nurse Joy has the second highest score."

Todd: "And look who has the highest score,"

(Todd says.)

(Mew walks over and asks.)

Mew: "Who?"

(Todd answers.)

Todd: "You did!"

(Mew becomes confused.)

Mew: "I did?!"

(Todd then begins to take pictures of Mew's score that is on the top left.)

(Right next to Nurse Joy's picture.)

Misty: "Wow! You got the highest score!"

(Misty says.)

Brock: "But remember, you still have another part of the exam to take,"

(Brock says.)

Tomo: "Go Mew!"

(Tomo happily says.)

(Back at the corner, James is distressed that Jessie has been expelled from the test.)

James: "Jessie's been expelled. Now, I'll have to do my best for her,"

(James says, clutching his fist.)

(Soon, the third exam is taking place.)

(Turns out, the final exam is a Pokemon battle.)

(Nurse Joy is battling Squirtle while the instructor is using Charmander.)

(Nurse Joy calls out.)

Nurse Joy: "Alright, Squirtle, Water Gun attack!"

(Squirtle attacks with Water Gun which is on target.)

(Then Nurse Joy says.)

Nurse Joy: "Squirtle, give it the Skull Bash, now!"

(At the stands, Brock cheers.)

Brock: "Nurse Joy, you're doing great! Yeah!"

(Then turns to Todd.)

Brock: "He turns towards Todd. Alright, shoot away. I ant 8 x 10 glossies, and wallet sizes too!"

Todd: "Yeah, sure…"

(Todd says, feeling uncomfortable.)

(While the battle continues, Mew and James are selecting a belt that has three Pokeballs on each.)

instructor: "Now, select whatever one you like,"

(The instructor says.)

Mew: "Um sir, what kind of test is it?"

(Mew asks.)

instructor: "Good question. All the Pokemon in these Pokeballs are trained for battles so they'll obey your commands. This test determines whether a trainer can adapt, regardless of what Pokemon comes out,"

(The instructor says.)

James: "With whom do we have to battle?"

(James asks.)

instructor: "With me,"

(The instructor says.)

Mew: "Okay. I'll choose this one,"

(Mew says, taking the belt.)

(James takes one.)

James: "I'll take these!"

(Soon, James is first on the battlefield.)

(Jessie shouts.)

Jessie: "Come on, James! Beat that ignoramus!"

Meowth: "Right. Really beat the guy,"

(Meowth says.)

James: "This one's for you, Jessie!"

(James says, and throws his Pokeball.)

(The Pokemon to come out of the Pokeball is a Pikachu.)

(much to Team Rocket and Mew and her friends' shock.)

(James chuckles eagerly.)

James: "With this, I can't lose! Thunder Shock, Thunderbolt. I've been destroyed by Pikachu's attacks so many times I know them all by heart!"

(Then begins to laugh wickedly.)

(Jessie and Meowth think differently, and are kind of embarrassed.)

Jessie: "That's kinda pathetic when you think about it,"

(Jessie says.)

Meowth: "Yeah."

(Meowth replies.)

instructor: "Now, we begin! Go!"

(The instructor says, and throws his Pokeball.)

(A Graveler comes out and appears on the battlefield.)

James: "It's a Graveler!"

(James says.)

(Then calls out.)

James: "Pikachu, Thunderbolt!"

(He then happily says.)

James: "Ooh, that feels great to say!"

(Pikachu then performs Thunderbolt, but nothing happens.)

(Mew has a feeling about this, because Graveler is a rock type, electric type like Pikachu are at a disadvantage.)

(And Mew's right, Graveler charges at Pikachu, knocking it out, and flies to James' face.)

(Confused, James says.)

James: "I don't get it! How come the Thunderbolt attack didn't work?"

instructor: "You should've known that electricity doesn't work on rock Pokemon. Minus one point,"

(The instructor says.)

James: "Well, then. How about this!"

(James says, and throws two more.)

(Out of the Pokeballs is a Charizard and an Ivysaur.)

(James says sounding confident.)

James: "With these, I can win! Now, what do you say?"

(Mew sweat bullets and says.)

Mew: "That was a bad move."

Tomo: "A really bad one,"

(Tomo adds.)

(The instructor sternly says.)

instructor: "Goodbye! It's against the rules to use two Pokemon at once."

James: "I never play by the.."

(James says, but stops to see the instructor's upset attitude.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "You're expelled. Now get out."

(Jessie sulks.)

Jessie: "He failed again."

Meowth: "Don't think of it as failing. Think of it as not succeeding,"

(Meowth says.)

(Now it's Mew's turn.)

Misty: "Now it's Mew's turn,"

(Misty says.)

Brock: "Go get em, Mew!"

(Brock says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pi!" (Go Mew!)

(Pikachu cheers.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee!" (You can do it!)

(Eevee cheers.)

Tomo: "Go!"

(Tomo calls out.)

Todd: "Make sure you win!"

(Todd calls out.)

(Mew smiles to hear her friends support, now she plans to pass this test.)

(Meanwhile, James sulk over his expulsion.)

James: "I'm such a loser!"

(Soon, Jessie and Meowth show up behind him.)

(Jessie says.)

Jessie: "James? I have a plan that will make us all winners!"

Meowth: "Yeah!"

(Meowth says.)

(Back at the battlefield, Mew is ready to battle.)

instructor: "Are you ready, Mew?"

(The instructor asks.)

Mew: "Ready!"

(Mew answers.)

(The instructor throws his Pokeball.)

instructor: "Pokeball, go!"

(Out of the Pokeball is Flareon.)

Mew: "So Flareon is up first. Let's see what Pokemon I have,"

(Mew says.)

(Then throws her Pokeball.)

Mew: "Pokeball, go!"

(The Pokeball opens and the Pokemon comes out.)

(To Mew and the others' surprise, the Pokemon is Weezing.)

Mew: "I got a Weezing?"

(Mew says, surprised.)

Team Rocket: "That's bad!"

(Team Rocket comments.)

(Brock says.)

Brock: "Mew got the Pokemon James has."

(The instructor says.)

instructor; "It's time to start the battle. Flareon, go! Flamethrower, now!"

(Flareon charges and begins to attack.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Weezing dodge."

(Weezing dodges the attack.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Weezing, use Smog attack!"

(Weezing releases the Smog attack as Flareon fires another shot.)

(but the flame hitting the smog causes an explosion and sends the fire pokemon back.)

(It then lands on its feet.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "Now, Flareon, use Leer!

(Then Flareon begins to use Leer.)

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Weezing, fight back with Smokescreen!"

(Weezing spreads smoke around the area and Flareon loses sight of Weezing.)

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Go, Weezing! Tackle attack!"

(Through the smoke, Weezing strikes at Flareon and knocks it out.)

(and Flareon is out for the count.)

Mew: "I did it,"

(Mew cheers happily.)

(Weezing flies to Mew.)

(Mew pets Weezing on the head.)

Mew: "You did great, Weezing."

Weezing: "Weezing," (Thank you.)

(Weezing happily says.)

(Misty happily says.)

Misty: "Mew did it!"

Brock: "Even Team Rocket could win if they fought like that!"

(Brock says.)

(Todd has been taking pictures of Mew's battle.)

(Speaking of Team Rocket, they are writing down notes of Mew's battle, and Meowth is embarrassed.)

(James quickly says.)

James: "Hurry! Take notes! Take notes!"

(The instructor tosses his next Pokeball.)

instructor: "Now, round two!"

(Soon, Jolteon comes out and is ready to battle.)

Mew: "Okay, a Jolteon. Next, Pokeball, go!"

(Mew says and throws her Pokeball.)

(Coming out of the Pokeball is Arbok.)

(Mew and the others are surprised to see it.)

Mew: "I got an Arbok,"

(Mew replies.)

Misty: "Mew got the Pokemon Jessie has!"

(Misty says.)

(Pikachu replies.)

Pikachu: "Chu." (Odd.)

Tomo: "Really odd?"

(Tomo agrees.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "Jolteon, Agility attack!"

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Arbok use Glare!"

(Arbok's eyes begin to glow and cause Jolteon to stop dead in its tracks.)

Mew: "Now, use Poison Sting,"

(Mew calls out.)

(Arbok then attacks Jolteon and strikes it with full force.)

Mew: "Finish it with Headbutt,"

(Mew says.)

(Then Arbok slams its head at Jolteon, sending it flying.)

(Soon, Jolteon is out for the count.)

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "Hmm, she's really good."

(Misty says.)

Misty: "She only needs one more Pokemon and she wins the match."

Brock: "And passes her test,"

(Brock says.)

(Then calls it back to it's Pokeball.)

(Then brings out her last Pokemon.)

Mew: "Pokeball, go!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Finally, Meowth appears to be the last Pokemon.)

Mew: "Meowth?!"

(Mew says, surprised.)

Pikachu: "Pika?" (Meowth?)

(Pikachu says, surprised.)

Eevee: "Eevee?" (What are the odds?)

(Eevee agrees.)

(Even the Pokemon and humans are surprised.)

Brock: "This oughta be interesting,"

(Brock says.)

Togepi: "Toge Toge!" (Yes, indeed.)

(Togepi happily says.)

(Meowth waves to the other Meowth.)

Meowth: "Hey, Meowth! Good luck!"

(The instructor throws his Pokeball.)

instructor: "Pokeball, go!"

(The final Pokemon from the instructor is Vaporeon.)

Mew: "Alright Meowth, let's battle!"

(Mew says.)

(Meowth agrees and begins to charge into battle.)

(The instructor calls out.)

instructor: "Vaporeon, use your Ice Beam, now!"

(Vaporeon performs the attack.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Meowth dodge!"

(Meowth dodges the attack and jumps in the air.)

Mew: "Now Meowth, use Pay Day!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Meowth then performs Pay Day and prevents Vaporeon from performing another attack.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Use Furry Swipe!"

(Meowth then performs Furry Swipe and prevents Vaporeon from attacking.)

Mew: "Now, use Night Slash!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Meowth then performs Night Slash and sends Vaporeon back, and soon it's knocked out.)

(Mew smiles and picks up Meowth.)

Mew: "We did it Meowth. You were great."

Meowth: "Meowth," (Thank you.)

(Meowth says.)

(The instructor calls Vaporeon to the Pokeball.)

instructor: "That is it. You have passed the test with flying colors."

Mew: "Um, thank you,"

(Mew says, blushing.)

instructor: "I must say. I'm sure you will be an excellent Pokemon trainer,"

(The instructor says.)

(Team Rocket feels defeated about it.)

Jessie: "I must admit, the kid is actually good,"

(Jessie says.)

James: "She battles with Arbok, Weezing, and Meowth better than we do,"

(James says.)

(Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Hey, we can't let this discourage us, and James still had the Pokemon from the exam."

(Jessie and James perk up and say.)

Jessie and James: "Right."

(The instructor says.)

instructor: "Alright. It's time for the next trainer…"

(However, Charizard, Ivysaur, and Pikachu appear on the battlefield.)

(They also see Team Rocket with them.)

(The instructor sternly says.)

instructor: "Return those Pokemon immediately!"

Jessie: "We're not taking orders from you anymore, Mr. exam man!"

(Jessie angrily says.)

James: "Now we're the ones who are going to test you!"

(James says.)

instructor: "What?"

(The instructor says.)

Jessie: Prepare yourself for trouble!

James: I suggest you make that double!

Mew: "I know it! It's Team Rocket!"

(Mew says.)

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!

James: To unite all peoples within our nation!

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James: To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie: Jessie.

(Jessie removes her disguise.)

James: James.

(James removes his disguise.)

Jessie: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

James: Surrender, now, or prepare to fight!

Meowth: Meowth! That's right!

Everyone: "Team Rocket!"

(Mew's friends exclaim.)

instructor: "Just go home and study harder and you can try again next time!"

(The instructor says.)

Jessie: "Unfortunately for you, there won't be a next time. But now that we've rounded up all these Pokemon, it's payback time!"

(Jessie says.)

(James calls out.)

James: "Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charizard, go! Are you ready?!"

(The Pokemon responds.)

Misty: "We're not gonna let you do it!"

(Misty says.)

(Mew turns to Pikachu and Eevee.)

Mew: "Go, Pikachu! You too, Eevee!""

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Let's go!)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eev!" (Yeah!)

(Eevee says.)

(Team Rocket soon begins to call the attacks.)

(Jessie calls out.)

Jessie: "Ivysaur, use Vine Whip, now!"

(James calls out.)

James: "Charizard, Flamethrower, now!"

(Meowth calls out.)

Meowth: "Pikachu, Thunder, now!"

(But the instructor says.)

instructor: "Listen up Ivysaur, Charizard, Pikachu! About face, now!"

(The Pokemon obey immediately, much to Team Rocket's shock.)

(Soon, the Pokemon use their attacks on Team Rocket.)

(Mew and the others are surprised to see it.)

(Mew asks.)

Mew: "How did you?"

(Mew turns to the instructor.)

Mew: "Oh, they obeyed you because you're the one who raised all of them!"

instructor: "Very good, Mew,"

(The instructor says.)

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Meowth, Weezing, Arbok, stop Team Rocket!"

(With that, the three Pokemon are attacking Team Rocket.)

Jessie: "Stop it, Arbok! That hurts!"

(Jessie shouts, being crushed by Arbok.)

(Meowth screams being scratched by the other Meowth.)

Meowth: "Cut it out! Cut it out!

(Being covered by Weezing smog, James screams.)

James: "Weezing, please! I can't breathe!"

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Arbok, Meowth, Weezing come back."

(The Pokemon quickly return to Mew.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Okay, Pikachu, Eevee, use Thunderbolt!"

(Pikachu then uses Thunderbolt on Team Rocket and an explosion occurs.)

(Luckily the battlefield hasn't been damaged, and Team Rocket are sent flying once more.)

(Team Rocket screams.)

Team Rocket: "Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

(After Team Rocket has been defeated.)

(the rest of the trainers finish their exams.)

(and there are some who are able to pass with flying colors, including Mew.)

(The instructor gives Mew the badge.)

instructor: "Here you go, Mew. With this badge, you will be registered into the Pokemon League."

Mew: "Thank you sir. I really appreciate it and I do enjoy taking the exam, but I prefer to travel and earn badges. You don't mind if I keep this, like a memento,"

(Mew says.)

instructor: "But of course. I think you'll be a fine trainer, no matter which path you decide to take,"

(The instructor says.)

Mew: "Thank you,"

(Mew says.)

(Soon, Mew, her friends, and Todd leave the Admission building.)

(as they wave goodbye to the instructor, Nurse Joy, and the Pokemon to goodbye.)

(With that, Mew and her friends continue on their journey to Cinnabar Island so Mew can earn her next badge.)
