Chapter 5: Illusion Confusion!

(Mew and her friends continue their journey to make their way to the Violet City Gym.)

(However, the group find themselves in a dark forest.)

(However, once again, they find themselves in trouble again.)

Misty: "Don't tell me, we're lost again, aren't we?"

(Misty says, bluntly.)

Mew: "Not exactly, my Pokenav said we're going the right way,"

(Mew says.)

Brock: "Yeah. We're not lost. It's just that we don't know where we are,"

(Brock says.)

Jen: "I don't like this,"

(Jen says.)

Mew: "Well, it said that we are in a forest, and it looks like it will take some time for us to get out,"

(Mew says, looking at her Pokenav.)

Brock: "It's almost sundown, and we're gonna be stuck in some spooky forest all night!"

(Brock says.)

Misty: "Did you say 'spooky' forest?"

(Misty asks.)

Tomo: "So which way do we need to go?"

(Tomo asks.)

Mew: "Well, according to the map, we should be going… that way,"

(Mew says, and points to the right.)

(Then the group begins to head off in that direction.)

(Later in the night however, they are still lost in the woods.)

(Misty cries out.)

Misty: "Mew! Where are we now?!"

Mew: "Now we're lost,"

(Mew answers.)

Misty: "And we're in the middle of nowhere!"

(Misty cries out.)

(Jen looks at the spooky forest and says.)

Jen: "I don't like this place. It's. It's spooky."

(The moon becomes covered by the clouds and the wind blows.)

(And suddenly, they hear a strange noise.)

(Misty cries out.)

Misty: "Cut it out! Making those sounds isn't funny!

Brock: "That wasn't me, Misty,"

(Brock says.)

(Tomo calls out.)

Tomo: "Who's there?! Come on out!"

(Soon, the same noise is heard again, followed by a sudden glow of blue light, a frightening face appears in the trees.)

(The group screams and runs away in terror.)

(But everywhere they turn, a scary tree appears.)

(Suddenly, some owl with big eyes shine a bright red light from them.)

(blinding the group, but it also causes the trees to return to normal.)

(Everyone turns to see the trees are normal again.)

Jen: "The trees are normal again!"

(Jen says.)

Tomo: "What was that red light?!"

(Tomo asks.)

???: "That was nothing,"

(A familiar voice appears.)

(Everyone turns to see Gary Oak.)

Mew: "Gary!"

(Mew says, surprised.)

Gary: "Everything you saw and heard was an illusion,"

(Gary says.)

(Soon, the group looks down to see the same Pokemon from before is beside Gary.)

(The Pokemon is an avian Pokémon that resembles an owl with a round body.)

(Most of its feathers are brown, but its belly is cream-colored.)

(It has large, red eyes; a small, pinkish beak; stubby wings; and a fan-like tail with three feathers.)

(Encircling its eyes are black rings; the lower rims of the ring have three protrusions that resemble the teeth on a gear.)

(while the upper rims have extensions that resemble the hands of a clock.)

(It has two pinkish feet, each with five-clawed toes.)

Gary: "Good job, Hoothoot,"

(Gary says and pat his Pokemon in the head.)

(The Pokemon replies.)

Hoothoot: "Hoothoot Hoothoot."

Misty: "A what?"

(Misty asks.)

Mew: "It's a Hoothoot,"

(Mew says.)

Jen: "It looks cute,"

(Jen says.)

(Mew brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says.)

Dexter: "Hoothoot, the Owl Pokémon. A Normal and Flying Type. Hoothoot stands on one leg, but uses both its powerful eyes to see clearly, even through the darkest night."

Tomo: "Sounds like a good Pokemon to have in this forest,"

(Tomo says.)

Gary: "You're right. Don't you know you have to use a Hoothoot to get through this forest?"

(Gary replies.)

Mew: "What do you mean? What happens if we don't?"

(Mew asks.)

Gary: "You'll get lost here...forever,"

(Gary answers.)

Tomo and Jen: "Forever?!"

(Tomo and Jen ask, shocked.)

(The Pokemon are just as shocked.)

Misty: "But, you have a Hoothoot and you're still here in the forest. If you're not lost, how come we caught up with you?"

(Misty questions.)

Gary: "Oh, that's easy. I've been busy. I've caught so many Pokémon, I must've lost track of time. You see, that's what makes me a great Pokémon trainer. As soon as I got to this forest, I sized up the situation and took action. I realized I needed a Hoothoot and I got one,"

(Gary says.)

Mew: "That's smart. Unfortunately for us, we haven't found a Hoothoot yet, and we're still lost,"

(Mew says.)

Gary: "Well, it's best that you find a Hoothoot so you can find your way out of this forest,"

(Gary says.)

(Then turns to Hoothoot.)

Gary: "Come on, Hoothoot, we better get going."

(Gary and Hoothoot depart.)

(Once they're gone, Brock says.)

Brock: "Guys, if we want to get through this forest, I think we better do what Gary did and get a Hoothoot to help us out."

Misty: "I'm with you, Brock,"

(Misty says.)

Jen: "I have to agree,"

(Jen says.)

Tomo: "Yeah. We could really use its help,"

(Tomo says.)

Mew: "Alright then, let's find a Hoothoot to help,"

(Mew says.)

(Soon, Mew and the others begin to search for a Hoothoot to assist them.)

(They all try to call out for the Hoothoot, but none answers.)

(Misty says.)

Misty: "I think looking for a Hoothoot is only getting us more lost."

Mew: "I don't think we're ever going to find one,"

(Mew says.)

(Suddenly, they hear a hoot and right at Misty's feet is a Hoothoot.)

Everyone: "Hoothoot?!"

(Everyone replies in surprise.)

(Misty tries to back away from the Hoothoot, but it hops towards her and nuzzles her leg.)

(Misty cries out.)

Misty: "It's, following me!"

Mew: "Don't worry, Misty. It's just saying hello,"

(Mew says.)

(She kneels down and says.)

Mew: "Hello Hoothoot, it's nice to meet you.

Hoothoot: "Hoothoot," (Hello)

(Hoothoot replies.)

(He then flies on Mew's shoulder, gives her a snuggle on her cheek, and runs away as it says.)

Hoothoot: "Hoothoot," (Goodbye.)

Jen and Tomo: "Hey, wait!"

(Jen and Tomo call out.)

(Mew, Brock, and Misty call out.)

Mew, Brock, and Misty: "Come back!"

(Soon, everyone proceeds to chase after the Hoothoot.)

(Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Where are you going?"

Mew: "Slow down!"

(Mew calls out.)

Brock: "Wait for us!"

(Brock says.)

(Soon, Hoothoot leads the group towards what looks like a shrine gate made of stone.)

Misty: "What's this weird stone thing doing here?"

(Misty asks.)

Brock: "Maybe. Or maybe it isn't here at all,"

(Brock replies.)

(Soon, they hear the wild Hoothoot as it goes further.)

Tomo: "Come on! Let's follow it,"

(Tomo says.)

(Everyone pursues the Hoothoot once more.)

Jen: "If that Hoothoot doesn't slow down soon, we'll never catch it!"

(Jen says.)

Mew: "Please Hoothoot, don't run away! We don't hurt you! We just need your help!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Soon, the Hoothoot stops and hops towards a short stranger and nuzzles the person's leg.)

(The group stops to see what looks like a short woman wearing a pink kimono with green kimono pants, red socks, sandals, a purple beaded necklace, and a red headband.)

(She has short brown hair, big eyebrows, and a slight frown.)

Mew: "Looks like Hoothoot has a friend,"

(Mew says.)

Jen: "But is the person real?"

(Jen asks.)

Misty: "Jen's right. This could be a trick,"

(Misty says.)

Brock: "Yeah, it's probably another illusion,"

(Brock says.)

Tomo: "You think so?"

(Tomo asks.)

Brock: "Of course. You ever seen anything this scary, even in your dreams?"

(Brock says, approaching the person.)

Tomo: "Guess not,"

(Tomo says.)

(The woman angrily screams.)

woman: "IS THAT SO?! WELL, WAKE UP, YOU DOLTS, CAUSE I'M THE BEST LOOKING THING AROUND HERE!"

(That startles Brock and Tomo.)

Brock: "Maybe it's real after all,"

(Brock says.)

Misty: "Are you a real life person?"

(Misty asks.)

(Then Mew says.)

Mew: "After all those illusions of trees with faces, I'm not sure what to believe."

Hagatha: "Last time I looked I was. And I understand where you're coming from, ma'am. The name's Hagatha, and, my friends, you're going to need me to get out of this forest,"

(The woman says, holding a flashlight.)

(The group are sweating drops.)

(A little time later, the group are with Hagatha and Hoothoot back at their home.)

Misty: "Your own business?"

(Misty asks.)

Hagatha: "That's right. I have a business renting Hoothoot to travelers passing through the forest like you all are. They help you pass the mischievous Pokémon and those ghostly things they make you see.."

(Hagatha says.)

Brock: "You mean Pokémon made us see those things?"

(Brock says.)

Mew: "Let me guess, ghost Pokemon,"

(Mew replies.)

Hagatha: "That's right. But Hoothoot have the power to see through such illusions,"

(Hagatha says.)

Misty: "So that's how Gary got his Hoothoot. He stopped here and rented it just like everybody else who passes through does,"

(Misty says.)

Mew: "Do you think we can rent one of your Hoothoot?"

(Mew asks.)

Hagatha: Well, alright. But there is one little problem,"

(Hagatha says.)

Tomo: "What's that?"

(Tomo asks.)

Hagatha: "That's the only Hoothoot I have left,"

(Hagatha says, looking at the Hoothoot.)

Brock: "It looks perfectly fine to me. Why can't we take that one?"

(Brock questions.)

Hagatha: "Believe me, sonny, you don't want that Hoothoot,"

(Hagatha says.)

Misty: "What's the matter with it?"

(Misty asks.)

(Hagatha answers.)

Hagatha: "Don't know exactly, but it's never guided a single traveler safe through those woods."

(Everyone is shocked at the revelation.)

(Then Hagatha explains.)

Hagatha: "I did my best to warn that poor young fella, but he insisted on taking that Hoothoot anyway."

(Brock asks.)

Brock: "Well, what happened to him?"

Hagatha: "He finally made it back here after three days of wandering them woods, half starved and full out of his head,"

(Hagatha answers.)

Hagatha: "Since then, I just keep this one here with me,"

(Hagatha says.)

Misty: "But what are we gonna do without a Hoothoot?"

(Misty asks.)

Hagatha: "The others will be back tomorrow. Just wait till then. Trust me. You'll be much better off,"

(Hagatha says.)

(Mew thinks a bit and says.)

Mew: "Well, maybe Hoothoot could use some help. I bet all Hoothoot needs is some good training, and assistance from a trainer."

(Mew then approaches Hoothoot.)

Mew: "Right? What do you say, Hoothoot?"

(Mew smiles at Hoothoot.)

Mew: "I may not know what might happen, but if you want, I can help you. If you want."

(Hoothoot happily smiles and lands on Mew's shoulder and rubs it with glee.)

(Then flies to Misty and sits on her lap.)

(Hagatha smiles and says.)

Hagatha: "Oh, I forgot to mention, since I'm the one who raised it, this Hoothoot only gets along with pretty girls."

Misty: "Oh, is that right, Hoothoot? Do you like pretty girls?"

(Misty asks, happily.)

Mew: "That would explain why Hoothoot was so interested in us when we first met,"

(Mew says.)

(She then sits next to Misty and scratches under Hoothoot's chin, much to its satisfaction.)

(Meanwhile, Team Rocket is trying to find their way through the forest themselves.)

Meowth: "We've been hanging around in these woods so long, I feel like a pinecone,"

(Meowth says.)

(Jessie asks.)

Jessie: "James, have you found a way out of this forest yet?"

James: "Not yet, Jess. But I think I may have discovered a good way to get in,"

(James says.)

(Then Meowth suggests.)

Meowth: "Maybe we should try taking that route and just walk backwards."

(Suddenly, Meowth hears Misty's voice.)

Mistyv "I think Hoothoot does like girls better than boys.

(Then Mew giggles.)

Mew: "I wonder if this Hoothoot pecks at boys it doesn't like."

Tomo: "I hope it doesn't start pecking me,"

(Tomo says.)

(Soon, the group spots Mew and the others.)

(Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Look, James! The twerps!

James: "Even when we're lost, we always find that Pikachu and Eevee,"

(James says.)

Meowth: "It's too bad. The only successful thing we seem to do is nothing at all,"

(Meowth says.)

(Meanwhile, Mew and the others are looking through the forest.)

(with Hoothoot in order to get out of the forest.)

(Mew looks around and says.)

Mew: "This looks like the place we saw those illusions before."

(Suddenly, Hoothoot begins to shiver.)

(Tomo notices it.)

Tomo: "Hey. Something's got Hoothoot pretty scared."

(Mew knees to Hoothoot and asks.)

Mew: "Are you okay? Something wrong?"

(Hoothoot turns around to answer, but sees something that startles it.)

Misty: "Is something wrong, Hoothoot?"

(Misty asks.)

(Suddenly, small flames appear around the group, frightening Hoothoot.)

Mew: "What's wrong?"

(Mew asks.)

(Suddenly, the flames appear all over Mew and the others.)

(Right on cue, Team Rocket sneak up behind a tree and spot the group freaking out.)

(However, Team Rocket are not seeing the flames.)

Meowth: "What's wrong with them?"

(Meowth asks.)

(Team Rocket watches as Mew and the others scream and panic.)

Brock: "We gotta get rid of these things!"

(Brock calls out.)

(Then Tomo calls out.)

Tomo: "Hoothoot, do something!"

(However, Hoothoot simply turns away.)

Mew: "Please Hoothoot, help us!"

(Mew calls out.)

Misty: "Please, Hoothoot, do it for us?"

(Misty cries out.)

(Hoothoot kindly obliges and uses his move.)

(Hoothoot eyes start to glow red, causing the flames to back off a bit.)

(But once Hoothoot stops, the flames draw closer.)

(Mew kneels to Hoothoot.)

Mew: "Don't give up Hoothoot."

Misty: "Please don't give up,"

(Misty says.)

(Hoothoot gladly gets back in the fight, more determined than ever and is ready to fight.)

(Hoothoot charges to fight.)

(But then, the flames come together and make an even bigger flame, which suddenly forms a face.)

(That frightens Hoothoot so bad that it runs away.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Hoothoot, come back!"

(The ghost soon charges at them, and everyone runs off after Hoothoot in terror.)

(Meanwhile, Team Rocket has watched the whole event and are confused.)

(and wonder what got Mew and the others so scared.)

Jessie: "I think they all lost their minds,"

(Jessie says.)

Meowth: "But if Mew's that spooked, she's gonna lose her Pikachu and Eevee, too,"

(Meowth says.)

(Team Rocket chuckle with wicked glees.)

(Meanwhile, everyone has caught up with Hoothoot and is trying to catch their breath.)

Tomo: "Hoothoot, just ran away and left us there,"

(Tomo says.)

Jen: "Talk about, a cowardly bird,"

(Jen replies.)

(But Misty says.)

Misty: "Don't blame Hoothoot. Hagatha warned us, didn't she? Right, Hoothoot?"

(Hoothoot hops towards Misty as she speaks and Misty pets him.)

Mew: "I'm starting to understand why Hoothoot has trouble helping people find a way out. I notice that Hoothoot's ability isn't that strong and it doesn't help that Hoothoot gets scared easily,"

(Mew says.)

(She sits next to Misty and Hoothoot.)

Mew: "Am I right?"

(Hoothoot then nods its head in reply.)

Mew: "It's okay Hoothoot. You just need more confidence in yourself. And you just need a little extra help,"

(Mew says.)

Brock: "Mew's right, you're doing the best you can,"

(Brock says.)

Tomo: "Yeah. you just need an extra boost in your power and confidence,"

(Tomo says.)

Jen: "And we can help you,"

(Jen says.)

(Then Misty says.)

Misty: "If you help us, you'll be helping yourself. To guide my friends and me through the forest, you'll have to use your special powers. And if you do, you'll start to become a much stronger Pokémon. Wouldn't you like that?"

(Hoothoot concurs.)

Mew: "Hoothoot says okay!"

(Mew says.)

Misty: "We know you can do it, Hoothoot,"

(Misty says.)

Jen: "Yeah. You're basically our friend now and we're going to help you,"

(Jen says.)

(Suddenly, a rope wraps around Pikachu and pulls him away.)

(Mew turns and cries out.)

Mew: "Pikachu!"

(Mew then leaps into the air and grabs Pikachu with Eevee on her shoulders.)

(Soon they hear Team Rocket's voices.)

Team Rocket: "Look what we hooked."

(and laughter.)

Mew: "Oh no. Guess who,"

(Mew says, with a straight face.)

(Eevee sighs and says.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee." (Here we go again.)

(And right on cue, the lights turn on to reveal Jessie and James holding fishing poles.)

Jessie: Prepare for trouble, now we win!

James: And make it double, we'll reel you in!

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!

James: Aah, to unite all people within our nation!

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James: To extend our reach to the stars above!

(Soon, Jessie swings Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee to a tree.)

(and Mew faceplants on the tree and falls to the ground.)

(Eevee quickly grabs the rope with her teeth.)

Jessie: Jessie.

James: James.

Jessie: Team Rocket will make an excellent impression.

(Soon, Jessie and James have caught Pikachu and Eevee, and a print of Mew.)

James: Now that your Pikachu and Eevee are in our possession.

Meowth: That's right.

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Put the Pika in the box and I'll shut it up tight. And don't forget the Eevee."

(Soon, Pikachu and Eevee are tossed in the box and it's closed shut.)

Brock: "You think maybe this...is another illusion?"

(Brock questions.)

(Mew sits up and says.)

Mew: "I wish it was, Brock, but it's not."

Tomo and Jen: "Mew's right,"

(Tomo and Jen replies.)

Misty: "It's the real deal,"

(Misty adds.)

(Then Mew demands.)

Mew: "Now, give me Pikachu and Eevee!"

Jessie: "Sorry, twerp, we can't give it back, because if we did we wouldn't be doing our job,"

(Jessie says.)

Meowth: "Our job's to rob,"

(Meowth says.)

(Team Rocket then hops into a boat suspended to a zipline and make their getaway.)

(Meowth says.)

Meowth: "We got our Pikachu! Now it's smooth sailing ahead, team!"

Jessie: "We've finally got our lucky break! And it took only 144 Chapters and two movies to get it!"

(Jessie happily says.)

(Suddenly, the rope breaks.)

Team Rocket: "Uh oh,"

(Team Rocket replies.)

(Then the boat drops into the forest floor, sending the box Pikachu and Eevee are in, flying down, and lands in Mew's arms.)

(Mew opens the box.)

Mew: "Pikachu? Eevee?"

(Pikachu says.)

Pikachu: "Pika pi." (We're alright)

Eevee: "Eevee Eev," (We're good.)

(Eevee says.)

Mew: "I'm glad you both are okay,"

(Mew says.)

(She then hugs her Pokemon.)

(Fallen on the ground, James says.)

James: "I knew I shouldn't have bought that salesman's cheap line."

Jessie: "Why did you?! Why did you get lassoed by some twine merchant?!"

(Jessie demands.)

(Meowth shows an empty pocket pouch and says.)

Meowth: "He got roped in."

(Soon, Team Rocket are shedding tears.)

(Hoothoot looks at how Pikachu and Eevee are happy with Mew.)

(Of course, it already knows that Mew is a good person.)

(Then Team Rocket gets up and ready to fight.)

(Jessie demands.)

Jessie: "We want that Pikachu and Eevee!

Meowth: "And that Hoothoot to boot,"

(Meowth says.)

(Then James says.)

James: "Let's have a battle and Team Rocket will show you what we can really do!"

Mew: "Ready when you are!"

(Mew says.)

(Soon, Jessie calls out.)

Jessie: "Get in there, Arbok!"

(Arbok comes out of the Pokeball.)

James: "Go ahead and get em, Victreebel!"

(James says, and throws his Pokeball.)

(Victreebel comes out of the Pokeball and instantly chomps on James.)

(James screams.)

James: "I said 'go ahead', not 'get a head'!"

(Mew throws her Pokeball and calls out.)

Mew: "I choose you, Bulbasaur!"

(Bulbasaur comes out of the Pokeball, but then Hoothoot starts hooting and hopping around.)

Mew: "Hoothoot?"

(Mew replies, confused.)

Misty: "What's wrong?"

(Misty asks.)

(Right on cue, a slight glow comes and fades just as quickly, even Team Rocket notices.)

James: "Hey,"

(James says.)

(Jessie looks behind her and reacts in shock.)

Jessie: "Hey! Look there!"

(James and Meowth turn and are surprised to see a Dragonite standing right before them.)

Meowth: "We're in luck! It's a Dragonite!"

(Meowth asks, surprised.)

(Then James wonders, still in Victreebel.)

James: "What would a rare Pokémon like that be doing in the middle of the forest?"

Meowth: "Who cares? Let's get it!"

(Meowth says.)

(Jessie calls out.)

Jessie: "Quick, Arbok! Attack!"

James: "Go get it, Victreebel!"

(James calls out.)

(Victreebel spits James out, and both it and Arbok charges at Dragonite.)

(but it dodges them easily and glides backwards towards the deeper part of the forest.)

(Team Rocket are in hot pursuit.)

(Jessie calls out.)

Jessie: "Wait! Come back!"

Meowth: "Don't go!"

(Meowth calls out.)

(Jessie cries out.)

Jessie: "Please!"

James: "We want to be friends!"

(James calls out.)

(Jessie calls out.)

Jessie: "Stay!"

(James calls out.)

James: "Stay with us! We need you!"

Meowth: "What's the big rush, buddy?"

(Meowth calls out.)

(Everyone watches as Team Rocket runs off, but aren't sure what's up with them because they can't see anything.)

(Soon enough, Team Rocket chase the illusion deeper into the forest.)

Tomo: "What's up with them?"

(Tomo asks.)

Brock: "Maybe they're seeing things like we were,"

(Brock suggests.)

Mew: "Maybe,"

(Mew says.)

(Suddenly, multiple copies of Mew appear and frightened everyone.)

Misty: "Another illusion!"

(Misty calls out.)

Jen: "Oh no! They're all Mew!"

(Jen cries out.)

Tomo: "They all look real!"

(Tomo says.)

(Then Brock looks around and asks.)

Brock: "Yeah, but which one's the real Mew?"

(Soon, all the clones call out saying they're the real ones.)

(Pikachu and Eevee are deeply confused and grow frustrated and confused that they both unleash thunderbolts together.)

(While the illusions scream in pain and run away, the Real Mew is not affected.)

(Mew giggles.)

Mew: "I guess you both found me."

(Suddenly, they hear Misty scream.)

Mew: "Misty!"

(Mew calls out.)

(To Mew and the others' shock, they see Misty is buried under multiple bug type Pokemon, from Caterpies to Surskits.)

(There are so many piling up on Misty.)

(Misty tries to get out, but is unable to see where she's going.)

Brock: "Easy, Misty. It's just another illusion!"

(Brock calls out.)

Misty: "It feels real to me, and I'm being buried by them! It's good that I clear my fear of Bug Pokemon, but I don't feel comfortable being buried by them!"

(Misty cries out.)

(Misty screams and cries for help, and Hoothoot also begins to hop away in fear.)

Mew: "Hoothoot, wait!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Hoothoot stops and turns to Mew.)

Mew: "Hoothoot, you can't run away from this! Misty needs help!"

(Mew says.)

Hoothoot: "Hoothoot,"

(Hoothoot replies, feeling really bad.)

(Then Mew picks Hoothoot up and gives him a kind smile.)

Mew: "I know it's difficult for you and it doesn't help that you feel scared, but Misty and I believed in you. And you were able to believe in us. But now, you need to believe in yourself and face them head on."

(Hoothoot takes Mew's words to heart and becomes determined.)

(Hoothoot then flies to the large pile of Bug Pokemon and its eyes glow red and the light rushes towards and over Misty.)

(Soon, all the illusions disappeared.)

Brock: "Hoothoot saw right through them!"

(Brock says, surprised.)

Tomo: "It sure did!"

(Tomo says.)

Mew: "And Hoothoot is able to use Foresight perfectly,"

(Mew says.)

(The Pokemon happily cheers.)

(Hoothoot continues to use it's attack and soon reveal the ones responsible for the illusions, a Haunter and Gengar.)

(Tomo says in surprise.)

Tomo: "Look! It's Haunter!"

Jen: "And Gengar!"

(Jen says.)

(Then Mew says.)

Mew: "I knew it. This whole forest is haunted by Ghost Pokemon."

(Soon, Haunter and Gengar's eyes glowing, bringing the slight blue mist again.)

Tomo: "Hey, guys,"

(Tomo says.)

Brock: "Haunter and Gengar have been the ones creating those illusions!"

(Brock says.)

(Misty calls out.)

Misty: "Hoothoot! Help us!"

Mew: "Alright Hoothoot, use Foresight on the Ghost Pokemon!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Hoothoot quickly uses Foresight, blinding the Ghost Pokemon.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Bulbasaur, Vine Whip, now!"

(Bulbasaur performs a Vine Whip and it strikes the Pokemon, sending them reeling.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Alright, Pikachu! Eevee! Thunderbolt em!

(With one strike, the Haunter and Gengar are electrocuted and are forced to retreat.)

Brock: "Bye-bye!"

(Brock says.)

(Mew picks up Hoothoot and says.)

Mew: "You did it Hoothoot! You performed Foresight perfectly!"

Misty: "We knew you could do it!"

(Misty happily says.)

(Hoothoot blushes and then jumps on Mew's shoulder and nuzzles her.)

(It then does the same to Misty.)

(Soon, the sun rises, but everyone is baffled that they returned to the stone gate from before.)

Tomo: "We're back,"

(Tomo says.)

Misty: "Maybe it's another illusion,"

(Misty says.)

(Soon, everyone looks up to see someone up the road.)

(Brock calls out.)

Brock: "Look!"

Tomo: "That's no illusion! That's Hagatha!"

(Tomo says.)

(But then the woman shouts.)

Nagatha: "I AM NOT HAGATHA! I'M NAGATHA, HER TWIN SISTER!"

Brock: "You're her twin?"

(Brock questions.)

(Nagatha answers.)

Nagatha: "Yes, but people don't believe it because I'm so much more beautiful."

(Later, Mew and the others are in Nagatha's house and call Hagatha.)

(Hagatha answers and says.)

Hagatha: "Well, I see you made it out of the woods."

Mew: "Yes, ma'am. It was tough, but we're all okay,"

(Mew says.)

(She then says.)

Mew: "But the real credit goes to Hoothoot. It's able to perform Foresight perfectly and help reveal the tricksters of the forest"

(Then Misty says.)

Misty: "We helped, just a little. Right, Hoothoot?"

(Hoothoot happily agrees.)

(Later, Mew and the others bidding Nagatha and Hoothoot farewell.)

(Luckily for our heroes, Hoothoot saw through the illusions and guided them safely through the forest.)

(And now, as they head for the Johto League, they have no illusions about the challenges that lay ahead.)

(Meanwhile, Team Rocket is a little occupied.)

(They relax on the beach, wearing their swimsuits.)

(Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Isn't this great? It's just like a dream."

James: "It's almost unreal,"

(James says.)

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "And the best part of all is we're out of that forest."

(Team Rocket chuckles as they relax on the beach.)

(However, unknown to them, the Haunter and Gengar conjured up another illusion for them.)

(And from the looks of it, they'll be there for a while.)
