Chapter 37: The Wacky Watcher

(After their exciting battle at the Kumquat gym.)

(Mew earned her respective fourth and final Orange Island badge.)

(Now she and her friends are making their way to the Orange Island competition.)

(Mew looks at her four badges with a smile.)

Mew: "These are our ticket to the Orange League competition,"

(Mew says.)

(Then turns to Pikachu and Eevee and asks.)

Mew: "Think we'll win, guys?"

Pikachu: "Pikachu!" (Sure, we will!)

(Pikachu says.)

(Then Eevee says.)

Eevee: "Eevee!" (I know we will!)

(The group continues to sail on Lapras on the ocean blue to their next destination.)

(Tracey then puts the mouth of his bottle down in the ocean to gather some water.)

(Misty notices and asks.)

Misty: "You're not gonna drink salt water, are you?"

Tracey: "Oh, no. This is strictly for Pokémon research purposes."

(Tracey says.)

Misty: "Great,"

(Misty replies.)

(Under the water, something approaches where Lapras is swimming.)

(And Pikachu and Eevee are the first to sense it.)

Mew: "See something guys?"

(Mew asks.)

(Everyone soon sees something large swimming beneath them.)

Misty: "What is it?"

(Misty asks.)

Mew: "I don't know,"

(Mew answers.)

Tracey: "Whatever it is, it's big!"

(Tracey says.)

Tomo: "It's huge,"

(Tomo says.)

(Soon, the large object surfaces and it is revealed to be a submarine.)

(Mew says.)

Mew: "It's a…"

Tracey: "Submarine!"

(Tracey confirms.)

(The group watches to see the submarine that rises from the sea.)

(Just then, the hatch opens and a man comes out of the sub.)

(He has gray spiky hair, mustache, wears a safari outfit, and wears glasses.)

(He quickly sets up some equipment and begins to take some measurements and sightings.)

(He then notices Mew and the others.)

The man: "Ah, company. You're here just in time for the rush hour."

Tomo and Jen: "Rush hour?"

(Tomo and Jen say, confused.)

(The others are just as confused.)

The man: "If my observations are correct, we're about to see one of the most astounding scenes ever seen on the seas,"

(the man says, and gets out some binoculars.)

The man: "Now we'll see what we shall see."

Mew: "I wonder what this guy's talking about,"

(Mew wonders.)

(Then Misty asks.)

Misty: "What could happen way out in the middle of the ocean?

Tracey: "I don't know, but maybe we should hang around and find out,"

(Tracey says.)

Jen: "You think we'll find something out here?"

(Jen asks.)

Tomo: "Probably,"

(Tomo replies.)

(Down in the ocean, the water rushes, and something races to the surface.)

(Multiple things and everyone feels the rush approaches from the waves.)

(The man is ever excited.)

The man: "They're here! They're here!

(Soon, something rises from the sea, and it's Magikarp, a whole herd of them.)

(That catches everyone by surprise.)

Tracey: "They're Magikarp!"

(Tracey says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pika!" (There's so many!)

(Pikachu says.)

Meloetta: "Loetta," (Oh my)

(Meloetta replies.)

(The Magikarps continue to rise and jump around as they begin to swim.)

(Tracey quickly notices one of the Magikarp is wearing a blue band on its tail.)

(Then notices the Magikarp are wearing different colored bands: Red, blue, and yellow.)

Tracey: "What are those colored bands for?"

(Tracey asks.)

(And they're swimming in the same direction.)

The man: "If my calculations are correct, I know exactly where the Magikarp are heading. But with heads like that, I suppose they don't have much of a choice. Oh, well. Here I go,"

(The man says.)

(The man goes back to his sub and follows the Magikarp group, leaving the group.)

Misty: "Would someone mind telling me what's going on here?"

(Misty asks.)

Pichu: "Pichu," (No clue.)

(Pichu replies.)

(Tracey brings out a map and says.)

Tracey: "I'm not sure, but if my guess is right, those Magikarp are headed straight for a place called Rind Island."

Everyone: "Rind Island?"

(Everyone says, confused.)

(The Pokemon say the same.)

All Pokemon: "(Rind Island?)

Tracey: "It's supposed to be deserted,"

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "Well, it won't be when we get there. Come on!"

(Mew says.)

(Soon enough, everyone decides to follow the man and the Magikarp, and find themselves at Rind Island.)

(Once they arrive, they plan to explore.)

(Mew returns Lapras.)

Mew: "Lapras, return!"

Tracey: "Let's go!"

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "Yeah!"

(Mew says.)

(Soon, the group begins to explore the island to find the man.)

(Soon enough, they find the Magikarp swimming upstream.)

Mew: "Hey, look!"

(Mew says.)

Misty: "The Magikarp are swimming upstream!"

(Misty says, amazed.)

Tracey: "I heard about this, but I never thought I'd actually see this for myself!"

(Tracey says.)

Jen: "That's amazing,"

(Jen says.)

(Suddenly, the man from before approaches behind them.)

the man: "Oh, just what I've been looking for. Non-union labor."

(Everyone turns to see the man with large luggages.)

(Then he approaches them.)

the man: "Come on! There's no time to organize now!"

(He then passes each of them a box.)

the man: "One for you. One for you. One for you. One for you. One for you. One for you. One for you. And one for chu. Now, follow me."

(and walks off.)

Tomo: "Hey, where are we going?"

(Tomo asks.)

(Soon, everyone begins to follow the man upstream.)

(Misty asks.)

Misty: "Excuse me, but who exactly are you?

Quincy: "Why, the last time I looked, I was Quincy T. Quackenpoker,"

(The man says.)

Jen: "Quackenpoker?"

(Jen says, confused.)

(Tracey replies.)

Tracey: "Quackenpoker."

Misty: "Quackenpoker? That's kind of an unusual name, isn't it?"

(Misty replies.)

(Then Quincy says.)

Quincy: "Everybody in my family is named Quackenpoker, at least, on my mother's side."

Jen: "Then why are you here?"

(Jen asks.)

Mew: "Does it have to do with the Magikarp coming here?"

(Mew asks.)

Quincy: "Correct,"

(Quincy answers.)

Quincy: "I'm a Pokémon Watcher and I've dedicated my life to the study of Magikarp."

(Then Tracey says.)

Tracey: "I knew your name sounded familiar!"

(Everyone stops.)

(Tracey explains.)

Tracey: "If a famous Pokémon Watcher like Dr. Quackenpoker thinks Magikarp are worth a lifetime of studying,"

(Then goes to the river, puts down the box, brings out his sketchpad and pencil, and begins sketching.)

Tracey: "There must be something I can learn from them, too!"

(Suddenly, a Magikarp comes up and splashes water in Tracey's face, knocking him down.)

Quincy: "The first thing you learn from watching Magikarp is always use a waterproof pad."

(Quincy says.)

Tracey: "Thanks, Doctor,"

(Tracey replies.)

(Then Quincy says.)

Quincy: "Come on. You can't lie there like a lax all day, we've got observations to make."

(and runs ahead.)

(The others race after him as Tracey calls out.)

Tracey: "Hey! Wait up!"

(Later on, everyone finally reached a resting point.)

(Bored, Misty asks.)

Misty: "Would somebody please tell me what's so great about watching Magikarp?"

Jen: "I don't get it, either,"

(Jen says.)

(The Pokemon is just as bored.)

Misty: "They're boring. If you've seen one Magikarp, you've seen them all, if you ask me,"

(Misty says.)

(Quincy set up a camera-like device and tripod to film the Magikarp.)

Quincy: "Okay, we're all set,"

(Quincy says.)

(Then uses the machine to observe the Magikarp.)

(Another machine prints out the analysis of the Magikarp.)

(Tracey looks at the machine and says.)

Tracey: "I see. It's a machine that records the number of Magikarp as they pass by."

Quincy: "It does much more than that,"

(Quincy says.)

Quincy: "It measures and analyzes thirty-two factors, including fin length, bone structure, muscle density, not to mention size-weight ratios and oxygen efficiency quotients."

Mew: "Size-weight ratios and oxygen efficiency quotients?"

(Mew says, confused.)

Quincy: "I asked you not to mention those, didn't I?"

(Quincy questions.)

(Then Tracey asks.)

Tracey: "Were you the one who put those bands on the Magikarps' tails, Dr. Quackenpoker?"

Dr. Quackenpoker: "Yes, they tell me when the Magikarp left here,"

(Dr. Quackenpoker answers.)

Tomo: "I don't get it. How'd they do that?"

(Tomo asks.)

(Dr. Quackenpoker explains.)

Dr. Quackenpoker: "I put a band on each one. The red ones left one year ago, blue, two years ago, and the Magikarp that have yellow bands left this island three years ago."

Tracey: "But I wonder why the Magikarp go away,"

(Tracey replies.)

Quackenpoker: "I'm getting there,"

(Quackenpoker says.)

(Then explains.)

Quackenpoker: "The Magikarp are born in the waters around this island but swim out to sea as they mature. But once a year, no matter where they are, thousands of Magikarp return here to the place of their birth. And I return so I can study them all."

(Then turns to Tracey.)

Quackenpoker: "Tracey, I'd imagine a young Pokémon Watcher like yourself must find all of this pretty interesting."

Tracey: "Sure, but how'd you know I was a Pokémon Watcher?"

(Tracey asks, surprised.)

Quackenpoker: "Well, with that sketch book you carry around with you, and those binoculars, I just put two and two together. Clever, eh?"

(Quackenpoker says.)

Mew: "I'd say that's really clever, Dr. Quackenpoker,"

(Mew says.)

Mew: "I've hardly ever seen something that's clever,"

(Mew says.)

Pikachu: "Pika." (Of course.)

(Pikachu says.)

Quackenpoker: "Well, thank you. But it's only logical for a skilled Pokémon Watcher would also be a skilled Pokémon watcher,"

(Quackenpoker says.)

(Then turns to Tracey.)

Quackenpoker: "Say! Now that the flood's come to a screeching halt, why don't I take a look at your sketchbook?"

Tracey: "Oh, sure, go ahead,"

(Tracey says.)

(Dr. Quackenpoker opens the sketchbook and sees a Rhydon Sketch on the first page.)

Quackenpoker: "Ah. Excellent! I see a great future ahead of you, young man,"

(Quackenpoker says.)

(A little pleased, Tracey asks.)

Tracey: "Do you... Do you really think so?"

Quincy: "Well, you certainly don't have a future behind you,"

(Quincy says.)

(Unknown to the group, Team Rocket is watching them again.)

(They also notice the Magikarp swimming up river.)

James: "I've never seen the little guy, and I've never seen so many Magikarp!"

(James says.)

Meowth: "Yeah. The place is really swimming with them,"

(Meowth says.)

(Then James says.)

James: "But there's something fishy about them."

Meowth: "Well, if you ask me, there ain't nothing magic about a bunch of Magikarp. I say we make Pikachu and Eevee the catch of the day,"

(Meowth says.)

(Then James and Meowth drop from the tree branch, drawing Jessie's attention.)

(Jessie calls out.)

Jessie: "Come back here!"

Meowth: "What's wrong?"

(Meowth asks.)

Jessie: "Aren't you forgetting something?"

(Jessie questions.)

(Then jumps down from the tree.)

Jessie: "Think about it."

Meowth: "About what?"

(Meowth asks.)

Jessie: "Magikarp. Don't you remember what Magikarp evolve into?"

(Jessie questions.)

Meowth: "Yeah, Gyarados,"

(Meowth says.)

(Then Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Now, listen to my master plan. All we have to do is scoop up that school of Magikarp. We'll train them hard, and before long, they'll evolve into Gyarados. And with a gigantic army of Gyarados, we'll be unstoppable! We'll be the Pokémon masters of the world!"

James and Meowth: "We'll, be masters!"

(James and Meowth say.)

(Jessie chuckles and says.)

Jessie: "And luckily, my plan is so brilliant and simple, that even a first grader could follow it."

Meowth: "I never went to kitty-garten,"

(Meowth says, unsure.)

(James feels the same.)

James: "And we've had absolutely lousy luck with Gyarados."

Jessie: "Quiet, you two!"

(Jessie shouts at them.)

(Then says.)

Jessie: "Wait and see. Those Magikarp will evolve and we'll be the most powerful trio in Team Rocket history!"

Meowth: "Maybe she's right!"

(Meowth replies.)

James: "Well, there's a first time for everything!"

(James says, excited.)

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Let's get us a mess of Magikarp!"

James: "Yay!"

(James cheers.)

(Then James and Meowth run off, leaving Jessie to fantasize.)

(James calls out.)

James: "Jessie! Jessie!"

(Meanwhile, Mew and the group along with Quackenpoker continue to watch the Magikarp proceedings.)

(What's more, they're swimming up the waterfall.)

Misty: "Wow! The Magikarp are swimming UP the waterfall!"

(Misty says, surprised.)

Tomo: "That is so cool!"

(Tomo says, amazed.)

Jen: "Amazing!"

(Jen says.)

Mew: "I can't figure out why they do that,"

(Mew says.)

Eevee: "Eevee! (Me neither!)

(Eevee says.)

(But Tracey says.)

Tracey: "I get it! While these Magikarp are swimming the oceans all year, they're building up their strength so they can get to the top of the falls!"

Quincy: "Yeah. Unfortunately, half the Magikarp don't make a very strong showing,"

(Quincy explains.)

(Everyone becomes confused.)

(Then Quincy says.)

Quincy: "My studies indicate that fifty percent of the Magikarp are still too weak to swim all the way up the waterfall."

Tracey: "What happens to the ones that don't make it?"

(Tracey asks.)

Quincy: "They do what that one there is doing,"

(Quincy, and points to one of the Magikarp that hasn't made it.)

Quincy: "They keep trying."

(The Magikarp soon falls from the fall and goes back to the base.)

(Then Quincy says to Magikarp.)

Quincy: "Everything takes time, Magikarp. Took me three years to grow this moustache."

(The fallen Magikarp tries to go up the falls once more.)

Tracey: "Swimming like this is almost like Pokémon training!"

(Tracey says.)

(Mew cheers.)

Mew: "Keep going, Magikarp!"

Misty: "You're getting near the top!"

(Misty cheers.)

(The Pokemon continues to cheer with excitement for the Magikarp.)

(Meanwhile, at the top of the falls, Team Rocket waits with nets in hand.)

Jessie: "Get ready. And remember, don't swing till you see the scales on their tails!"

(Jessie says.)

(Then James asks.)

James: "Jess, wouldn't it be easy to catch them in Pokéballs?"

(Jessie angrily says.)

Jessie: "James, Pokéballs cost money, which is something we're out of!"

Meowth: "Anger is no excuse for ending a sentence with two prepositions,"

(Meowth says.)

(Soon, the first Magikarp reaches the top.)

James: "Well, now I've got you!"

(James says as he swings the net.)

(Soon, James catches a Magikarp.)

James: "Look, Jess, I caught me a whopper!"

(Jessie and Meowth are surprised.)

Jessie::"That isn't bad, James,"

(Jessie says.)

Meowth: "It looks easy,"

(Meowth says.)

James: "Hooray!"

(James happily cheers.)

(The Magikarp that James catches manages to wiggle its way out of the net.)

(Meowth freaks out.)

Meowth: "It's flippin out!"

Jessie: "Quick! We can't let it get away!"

(Jessie calls out.)

(James mangages to hold down the Magikarp, but continues to hop away.)

(Jessie and Meowth grab hold of James, but the Magikarp continue to top and drag them until they reach the river.)

(Soon, Team Rocket goes down the waterfall and past the other Magikarp.)

(They soon scream for help, trying to get someone's attention.)

Mew: "Huh?"

(Mew replies, having heard them.)

Tracey: "What's the matter, guys?"

(Tracey asks.)

Mew: "I thought I just heard Team Rocket scream,"

(Mew says.)

Tomo: "Team Rocket?"

(Tomo asks.)

Misty: "Not again,"

(Misty says.)

Jen: "What are they doing here?"

(Jen asks, curious.)

Mew: "I don't know. They sound like they're in some kind of trouble."

(Mew says.)

Tomo: "What else is new? They're always in trouble,"

(Tomo says.)

(Then Quincy says.)

Quincy: "You'll be the ones in trouble if I'm too late to see the Magikarp evolve.

Everyone: "EVOLVE?!"

(Everyone exclaims in shock.)

(Even the Pokemon is just as shocked.)

(Sometime later, everyone arrives at a massive lake.)

Tomo: "Aren't the Magikarp ever gonna evolve?"

(Tomo asks.)

Quackenpoker: "Tomo, patience is very important, especially if you're a doctor,"

(Quackenpoker says, analyzing his data.)

Quackenpoker: "But as a matter of fact, a lot of these Magikarp won't be evolving here today. Some will have to wait until they get stronger, and that could take years."

(Soon, everyone is resting and waiting as they have something to eat.)

(Misty pours Quackenpoker a cup.)

Misty: "Say when."

Quincy: "That's plenty,"

(Quincy says.)

(Mew eats with Pikachu and Eevee.)

Mew: "Pretty good, huh, guys?"

(Pikachu and Eevee express their satisfaction.)

(Tomo turns to Meloetta and Skwovet.)

Tomo: "The food is great."

(Meloetta and Skwovet agree.)

(Jen and Amaura are enjoying their food.)

(Quincy turns to Mew and says.)

Quincy: "I've never seen a trainer with a more symbiotic relationship with his Pokemon."

(Mew is puzzled.)

Quincy: "I mean, you, Pikachu, and Eevee communicate shockingly well,"

(Quincy says.)

Mew: "I leave the shocking to Pikachu, doctor,"

(Mew says.)

Pikachu: "Pika Pika," (It's my specialty.)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee," (That's true.)

(Eevee says.)

Misty: "Open up, Togepi,"

(Misty says, and hold a small piece of bread for Togepi.)

(Togepi then eats the small piece of bread.)

(Then Misty gives a piece of bread to Pichu, and Pichu eats it.)

Quincy: "These two are a couple of cuties,"

(Quincy says.)

(Then gently rubs Togepi's spike.)

(Misty chuckles and says.)

Misty: "I didn't know Togepi was so ticklish."

Quincy: "Togepi just like to be petted on their front spike there."

(Quincy says.)

Misty: "Just like this?"

(Then Misty pets Togepi on the same spike.)

(Togepi likes it.)

Tracey: "Magikarp aren't the only Pokémon you know about, are they, Dr. Quackenpoker?"

(Tracey asks.)

(Quincy laughs and says.)

Quincy: "All Pokémon interest me, but Magikarp are my most favorite by far."

Tracey: "Really?"

(Tracey asks.)

(Quincy nods his head.)

Quincy: "Yes. When I was a boy, I woke up one morning and I saw a Magikarp in my pajamas. How a Magikarp got into my pajamas, I'll never know."

(Right on cue, the Magikarp begins to jump up on the water.)

(Later that night, everyone is fast asleep in their tent for some rest.)

(However, Tracey and Quackenpoker are still up sharing the theories and research.)

Tracey: "I have my own theory, Dr. Quackenpoker,"

(Tracey says, and shows Quackenpoker the sketch.)

Tracey: "I think the Magikarp jump out of the water and use the position of the sun to find their way back to the island."

Quackenpoker: "Well, that's a very interesting theory, young man, but I'm afraid there's just one little problem with it. Look here,"

(Quackenpoker says, and shows his sketch to Tracey.)

Tracey: "What's that?"

(Tracey asks.)

Quincy: "This is a Magikarp that can't jump at all. But after three years, it still manages to find its way back home,"

(Quincy says.)

Tracey: "Well, I guess that just proves that Magikarp are more mysterious than I thought,"

(Tracey says.)

(Quincy nods his head and says.)

Quincy: "After fifty years of watching Pokemon, I still find Magikarp hard to understand. Even harder to understand than my income tax return."

(Soon, some of the Magikarp start jumping, waking up everyone in the tent.)

(Everyone leaves their tent to see what's going on.)

Misty: "What are they doing now, doctor?"

(Misty asks.)

Jen: "It looks like they're going crazy."

(Jen says.)

Quincy: "That means the Magikarp can sense something is about to happen. Something very exciting,"

(Quincy says.)

Mew: "I've gotta see this,"

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Maybe they're evolving!"

(Misty suggests.)

(Suddenly, the water becomes more disturbed as the Magikarp look like they're panicking.)

Misty: "Hey! What's happening out there?"

(Misty asks, shocked.)

Quincy: "I don't know. Something's wrong! The waters are all churned up!"

(Quincy says.)

Mew: "You're right. From what I'm hearing, I think the Magikarp are scared,"

(Mew says.)

Tomo: "Then they might be in some kind of trouble,"

(Tomo says.)

(Just then, mechanical arms come up and grab the Magikarp one by one.)

(It's revealed that the mechanical arms belong to Team Rocket's Magikarp submarine.)

(and the Magikarp being captured are being put into the submarine's mouth.)

(Jessie laughs in triumph.)

Jessie: "We'll be able to pick a peck of Magikarp in no time!"

Meowth: "Catch em all! Gotta catch em all!"

(Meowth says.)

(The mechanical arms continue to catch and scoop the Magikarp into the mouth as Team Rocket laugh with triumph.)

(However, as the sub fills itself up with Magikarp, they end up crowding Team Rocket and the sub.)

(Soon enough, it begins to sink.)

Jessie: "What's happening?!"

(Jessie panics.)

Meowth: "The Magikarp-et ride is over!"

(Meowth says.)

(Jessie panics.)

Jessie: "The Magikarp are weighing us down! Throw em back! Throw em back!"

(James begins to release some of the Magikarp, while Mew and the others show deep concern.)

(Mew asks.)

Mew: "Where'd all the Magikarp go?!"

(Suddenly, Team Rocket's sub surfaces right in front of them, and drenching them as well, drenching them as well.)

(Noticing the Magikarp submarine and saying.)

Mew: "Why, that's the most ridiculous Magikarp I've ever seen."

(Just then, the hatch opens and Team Rocket climbs out.)

Jessie: "So you think our metal Magikarp submarine is ridiculous, do you? You better prepare for trouble!"

(Jessie angrily says.)

James::"But, Jess, you better calm down, on the double,"

(James says, trying to calm Jessie down.)

(And so, Team Rocket begins to do the motto.)

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.

James: To unite all people within our nation.

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James: To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie: Jessie!

James: James!

(As the motto continues, everyone seems bored from listening to them.)

Jessie: Team Rocket, Blast off at the speed of Light!

James: Surrender now or prepare to fight!

Meowth: Meowth, dat's right!

(Excluding Quackenpoker, everyone calls out.)

Everyone: "Team Rocket!"

Jessie: "We'd love to stay and chat, but we've got Magikarp to train,"

(Jessie says.)

(Quincy demands.)

Quincy: "Release those Magikarp at once, or I'll be forced to sink that submarine!"

James: "Mind your own business, you little quack!"

(James shouts.)

(Misty clarifies.)

Misty: "Quackenpoker!"

Jessie: "If you want them so much, you'll just have to catch them, like we did!"

(Jessie says.)

(And with that, Team Rocket tosses three Magikarp overboard.)

(Everyone rushes over and rescues them.)

Jessie: "One, two, three!"

(Jessie counts.)

(James and Jessie continue to toss more Magikarp overboard.)

(Jessie turns to Meowth.)

Jessie: "Meowth, it's time."

(Meowth then gets out the device.)

Meowth: "Pokemon time."

(Before anyone can reach, another mechanical arm with a glass capsule captures Pikachu and Eevee, and brings them to Team Rocket.)

(Mew cries out.)

Mew: "Pikachu! Eevee!"

(Pikachu and Eevee cry out to Mew as they are brought to Team Rocket.)

Meowth: "You should mind your peas and ques and your Pikachus and evenly get Eevees,"

(Meowth says.)

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Pikachu, Eevee, Thunderbolt attack!

(But Quincy stops them.)

Quincy: "Hold it! Pikachu's and Eevee's Thunderbolts will give those Magikarp the shock of their lives!

Mew: "Yeah, you're right,"

(Mew says.)

(Mew acts fast and takes out her Pokeball, then kicks it, soccer style, towards Team Rocket.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "I choose you, Bulbasaur!"

(And with that, Bulbasaur comes out of the Pokeball.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip to get Pikachu and Eevee, now!"

(Bulbasaur then performs Vine Whip and reaches Team Rocket.)

(but Jessie ducks and tosses the Pokemon to James.)

(The vine turns towards James, but he tosses them to Meowth as the Vine Whip smacks him.)

(Meowth catches them, but the vine whip approaches.)

Meowth: "Here, catch!"

(Meowth says and tosses the capsule to Jessie.)

(Jessie catches the Pokemon as Bulbasaur struggles and nearly falls in the water.)

Mew: "Bulbasaur, return!"

(Mew says, and calls back Bulbasaur.)

Jessie: "I guess your little Vine Whip got whipped,"

(Jessie mocks.)

Meowth: "Heh! This time we came out on top!"

(Meowth says.)

(James is able to get up from the Vine Whip, but looks up to realize there's a Magikarp stuck on his head.)

(James begins to panic.)

(Jessie and Meowth panic and try to pull the Magikarp off James' head.)

Jessie: "Stop playing!"

(Jessie calls out.)

(Jessie and Meowth pull with all their might, but the Magikarp isn't coming off.)

(Quincy calls out.)

Quincy: "Stop! You'll pull his head off that way!"

(Then rushes over to the sub.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Doctor, wait!"

(Mew and Tracey soon follow the doctor.)

(They jump into the lake and place the Magikarp in the water as Dr. Quackenpoker climbs on the sub.)

(At the same time, Jessie and Meowth are still pulling.)

Jessie: "One, two…"

(Jessie counts and pulls as hard as they can.)

James: "Hey! Watch my hair!"

(James screams.)

(Quincy reaches Team Rocket and says.)

Quincy: "That won't work. You can't muscle a Magikarp, you have to treat it very gently."

Jessie and Meowth: "Gently?"

(Jessie and Meowth say, confused.)

(Quincy then strokes Magikarp's dorsal fin as he says.)

Quincy: "Nice, Magikarp. Good, Magikarp. Relax. Relax."

(Soon enough, Magikarp feels that it lets go of James' head.)

(James touches his head to feel the Magikarp is no longer on his head, and so Team Rocket celebrates in tears of joy.)

Jessie: "We did it!"

(Jessie happily cheers.)

(Suddenly Mew says.)

Mew: "Thanks, Magikarp!"

(Quincy and Team Rocket turn to see Mew opening the capsule and free her friends.)

Mew: "Now that you're out of James' hair and we have Pikachu and Eevee, we'll say goodbye,"

(Mew says.)

(Mew, Tracey, and Dr. Quackenpoker jumps overboard with Pikachu, Eevee, and Magikarp in hand.)

(Jessie angrily says.)

Jessie: "You're not getting away that easy!"

James: "We want that Pika…"

(But James is soon interrupted by a glow.)

(It's revealed that the Magikarp Dr. Quackenpoker is holding is glowing and starting to evolve.)

Quincy: "Here they go!"

(Quincy says.)

(Then he puts the Magikarp in the water and it swims out to the middle of the lake.)

(Soon, a massive glow begins and the water starts churning, meaning the Magikarps are starting to evolve.)

(Mew and the others quickly get out of the water.)

Misty: "I'm glad you're okay,"

(Misty says to Pikachu and Eevee.)

Pikachu and Eevee: "Pikachu/Eevee," (Thanks, Misty.)

(Pikachu and Eevee reply.)

(Tracey turns to Quincy.)

Tracey: "They're…"

Quincy: "That's right, my boy, they're evolving,"

(Quincy says.)

(The glow soon fades and a whirlpool develops in its place.)

(which transforms into a water cyclone, sending Team Rocket up and blasting off.)

(Team Rocket screams.)

Team Rocket: "Looks like we're splashing off again!"

(Soon, one by one, the Magikarp leave the cyclone and fully evolve into Gyarados.)

(Everyone watches in astonishment that so many Magikarp are evolving at once.)

(After evolving, the Gyarados splashes into the water and begin to swim back down the river to get to the ocean.)

Quincy: "Tracey! I need an experienced watcher like you to help me count. You count the ones with the red rings and blue rings, okay?"

(Quincy says, and tosses Tracey counters.)

Tracey: "Yeah, sure!"

(Tracey says.)

(And with that the Gyarados then swim away.)

Quincy: "Quick! They're swimming upstream! Follow them!"

(Quincy says.)

Tracey: "Right!"

(Tracey says.)

(Dr. Quackenpoker and Tracey pursue the Gyarados.)

Mew: "Dr. Quackenpoker!"

(Mew calls out.)

Tomo: "Tracey!"

(Tomo calls out.)

Misty: "Wait for us!"

(Misty says.)

(The rest of the group then follow from behind as the Magikarp and Gyarados head down the river.)

(At the same time, Tracey and Dr. Quackenpoker are in pursuit of the school to count them.)

Quincy: "Don't lose sight of a single one!"

(Quincy says.)

Tracey: "I won't!"

(Tracey says.)

(Soon, Tracey and Quackenpoker begin to count the Magikarp and Gyarados as they return to the sea.)

(They follow the Magikarp and Gyarados until they reach the cliff overlooking the sea.)

(Everyone else arrives to see the Magikarp and Gyarados leaving the island.)

(And soon enough, the Magikarp and Gyarados are no longer in their sight.)

Misty: "That was amazing!"

(Misty says.)

Mew: "Yeah,"

(Mew says.)

Tomo and Jen: "Yeah!"

(Tomo and Jen say.)

(The Pokemon also agree.)

(Just then, Quincy says.)

Quincy: "Okay, Tracey, give me your totals."

Tracey: "Sure. Doctor!"

(Tracey says.)

(They both share their results.)

(Then Tracey says.)

Tracey: "Seventy percent of the Magikarp have evolved!

Quincy: "Hey! That's the highest percentage ever! Tracey, we've made a momentous observation!"

(Quincy says.)

Tracey: "We sure have, Dr. Quackenpoker,"

(Tracey replies.)

(Soon, the two shake hands.)

Quincy: "Thanks to you, I can finally begin to unravel some of the mysteries of Magikarp evolution,"

(Quincy says.)

Tracey: "And thanks to you, I've had the honor of working with one of the greatest Pokémon Watchers ever."

(Tracey says.)

(Quincy chuckles and says.)

Quincy: "Work hard, and you'll be great, too."

Tracey: "Thanks,"

(Tracey says.)

(Soon, the sun begins to rise.)

(Everyone looks to see the sun rise.)

(Mew turns to Pikachu and Eevee.)

Mew: "You know, guys, if we work hard, I know we can win that Orange League competition!

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Of course!)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee," (We sure will.)

(Eevee says.)

Misty: "And we'll be rooting for her. Right, Togepi? Right, Pichu?"

(Misty replies.)

(Everyone continues to watch where the Gyarados and Magikarp swim off.)

(They have a new understanding and appreciation of the mystery of Pokemon.)

(Meanwhile, Team Rocket ate now stranded at sea, again.)

(Frightened, James asks.)

James: "Why did we have to, be so, greedy?"

Meowth: "An army of Gyarados seemed like a good idea at the time,"

(Meowth says, frightened.)

Jessie: "Maybe Gyarados are much friendlier than they seem."

(Jessie says, scared.)

(A Gyarados glares over them, causing them to panic.)

(As it's revealed, Team Rocket are surrounded by circling Gyarados.)

(Team Rocket says in fear.)

Team Rocket: "Maybe not!"
