Episode 62: New Species

After registering for the League, they decide to head to Professor Oak's lab in preparation for tomorrow.

Ivy: Professor, we're back!

Oak: Great to see you all together again. I assume registration went well?

Leon: Went amazingly.

Oak: That's great to hear. Can I ask you all for one more favor?

Wart: Sure, what is it?

Oak: Can you pick up a package for me in Viridian City?

Leon: Sure, what's in the package though?

Oak: Well since Wart and Ivy helped me complete my Pokédex, I've started development on a new one for a colleague in the Johto region. I just ordered some pieces to finish up the prototype.

Leon: Oh okay, let's go then.

They leave Pallet Town and enter Viridian Forest. They trek through the forest but are unable to shake the felling of being watched.

Leon: Whoever you are, you might as well come out now before things get worse.

???: Oh you're no fun.

Out of the trees comes a short, pink haired boy floating in the air.

MEW REGISTERED.

Mew: Looks like that thingy in your pocket got to introducing me before I did. But as it said, my name is Mew, pleasure to meet you.

Rai: Wait, Mew? Like the mythical Pokémon Mew?

Mew: The one and only. Well, now the one and only.

Una: You finally reveal yourself...why?

Mew: Being honest, I've been following you guys since you first entered this forest. You guys were super cool the way you dealt with that Butterfree so I decided to watch from a distance your adventures.

Otto: Wait, watching us? How have we never noticed you before?

Mew: Transformation of course. I can't let just anyone see me. Let's get back to why I'm here right this second. I want to test you guys. Let's play a little game. A simple game of tag.

Leon: Huh?

Mew: If you want to take on the Pokémon League a game of tag shouldn't be that hard. You have until sunset to touch me once. If you can do that I can guarantee victory in your future.

Leon: Just a touch you once? Before sunset? There has to be something here I'm missing because this seems a little too easy.

Mew: No, that's it. Though I can promise you this isn't going to be easy.
