The Research Proposal

To whom it may concern.

Greetings,

As many of you already know, I am Dr. Emeral Harland Cottonwood, a leading pokemon researcher in the Novas Region. I specialize in the research and study of pokemon and their relationship with humans. I also have worked extensively on the subjects pertaining to the biological similarities between that of humans and pokemon, as well as that which makes us fundamentally different. Recently, I believe I have found a way to establish the truest divide in the constitution of both humans and pokemon. Upon realizing these facts, we can further research the practical applications of this knowledge and how it may better human and pokemon society as a whole.

Humans and pokemon have had a very exciting past. Tales of drama and heroism, terrifying creatures, and many more things that the laws of our natural world seems to disagree with the possibility of. But just like how pokemon don't follow all the natural laws of this world we can never truly be certain of the legitimacy of these stories.

Many ancient ruins are still under heavy investigation from various archeological teams throughout the world, however there are two things that are very strongly and definitively depicted in almost every region.

The first of the occasions is that the world was created, both human and pokemon. From the artifacts we have analyzed, we have concluded that pokemon may have even predated the human arrival to this world. Ancient people used to revere pokemon as gods, Creatures that could lord over the land and sky's. Which in a certain sense is an accurate and reasonable assumption. We have pokemon like Tyranitar, Machamp, and Dusclops, just to name a few, that if agitated could level an entire city given they wanted to achieve such ends. Then there are pokemon like Alakazam that can blow any humans processing capabilities out of the water.

This brings me to my next point. With these terrifying creatures in existence, and the magnitude of power they hold, it would seem impossible to win a war against pokemon. Even the notion is an insanity. They far outnumber us and their power is unprecedented. Which makes the next important discovery of the ruins absurd, terrifying, exhilarating and all that more fascinating.

People and pokemon actually went to war. And according to ancient murals and depictions, it was a long bloody war that lasted for hundreds quite possibly, thousands of years. For a moment ignore the unlikeliness of such an occurrence happening all throughout the world, for just a moment pretend it was possible.

How did we do it? How could we do it? There is only one explanation given the situation. People found ways to wield the same power, or even greater power than the pokemon did. It is an absurd notion, believing that a person could attain such power. However, there is evidence that supports this. People strong enough to wrestle with fighting types, humans able to withstand the extreme temperatures of frost and flames that are naturally emitted by specific types of pokemon. Humans that are capable of telekinetic powers similar to psychic types. While in each case the level of technique demonstrated by each of these examples, is never comparable to the fullest abilities of true pokemon themselves, it still shows us that there is a possibility.

I believe that people are capable of reaching similar heights again. Which brings me to my proposal. I would like to apply for a grant from the governing body of Nova to operate both an orphanage, daycare, and research center for children and pokemon outside of my hometown of Pallidine City. It is the location of the sixth gym of the pokemon league, a pivotal point at which the individuals that are truly capable of partaking in the league are tested and weeded out. It is also near the center of the region, meaning it is both safe and accessable for children that are abandoned or orphaned by their parents.

This would not only facilitate my research, but it would allow for a home to the rising number of children that have been abandoned or orphaned by the growing population coming from around the world to challenge our unique league, specifically the younger demographics who's brash nature and overconfident tendencies lead them to make thoughtless choices, terrible accidents and fatal mistakes. This location will keep the children connected to the entirety of the region as well as keep them safe from outside harm.

Children are also the best practical research subjects as both people and pokemon are the most effected when it comes to relation and connection when they are young. We believe that this is a vital part of the power linking people and pokemon. As a part of the experiment I hope to educate the children on pokemon, and have them help with the day care, promoting a closer affiliation with various pokemon types, and educating the children in a practical setting the true nature of pokemon. Of course safety is of the utmost importance, so there will be insurances in place to ensure that no child will be harmed by potentially violent or temperamental Pokémon.

My team and I have already assembled a rudimentary plan for the construction, operation and possible future expansion of both the orphanage, and the day care center.

Given the go ahead, I will forward the previously stated information to your counsel for review, as well as our prep work and the more extensive analysis behind the exact interworkings of our projected studies, in addition to our conclusions that have warranted us to project these notions.

Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to hearing your decision on the matter.
