Chapter 120

"Machop, dodge and use Mega Punch" yelled Alex.

"Take the hit, and use Double Kick" said Fumamito.

Hitminlee endured the Mega Punch by Machop, and it then leapt up, spun around, and landed two swift kicks at Machop. Machop was sent flying by the force.

"It does not apply to all fighting type attacks, but for most, adding a little circular motion during release can boost the power of the move" said Fumamito.

Alex and Machop had been training under and learning from master Fumamito for the past 6 hours. He proposed a battle with his Hitmonlee as he was leaving, to allow what eas learnt to truly register.

"Machop, Bulk Up" said Alex.

"Use High Jump Kick!" said Fumamito.

"Use Endure!" yelled Alex.

Machop, which now had a bulging frame thanks to its Bulk Up, tucked its head into its arms, and started circulating energy to endure the attack. The move Endure could allow a Pokemon to not faint from most non fatal attacks, and stat on the spot, but it was highly dependant on willpower Machop had amazing power, and hence Alex was confident it could endure the High Jump Kick from the level 29 Hitmonlee.

"Choop" cried Machop in pain, as it received the attack. Its legs started dragging the ground from the force contained in the kick, but it managed to steady itself and not be sent flying.

"Now! Use Seismic Toss!" yelled Alex.

Machop grabbed the leg it was just got with, and started to spin Hitmonlee around with it. After a few spins, it heavily flung Hitmonlee across the room. Hitmonlee landed on its head, and groggily tried to stand up, but kept failing, due to it just spinning in circles and landing on its head.

"Get closed and use Close Combat" yelled Alex.

Machop charged at the downed Hitmonlee and started raining a barrage of punches. Hitmonlee, whose only means of attack were its legs, couldn't fight back, as both its legs were prone on the ground.

After a continued barrage, Machop withdrew, while the Hitmonlee lay there with circles in its eyes.

"Well done Machop!" said Alex as he looked at Machop satisfied.

Over the past 6 hours, Machop had shown amazing learning ability and willpower, learning Mega Puch, Mega Kick, Endure, Close Combat, and Vital Throw, among others. It had now reached level 26, and it stood a chance to reach level 29 and win the tournament tomorrow.

"Good work you two. I am one of the guests of honour at the tournament tomorrow. I will be watching you" said master Fumamito, as he withdrew the fainted Hitmonlee.

"Thank you master Fumamito. We will do our best" said Alex, as he sent him out.

"Well, let's take you to the Pokemon Center and have them examine you just in case. After that, you should have a good meal, and a good night's sleep in one of those new relaxation pods, to stay in top condition for tomorrow" said Alex patting Machop's head. Machop had gradually warmed up to him during this time, and no longer rejected such gestures.

The relaxation pods were one of the newest inventions from the Kalos region that had been gaining popularity in Kanto. It allowed smaller Pokemon to climb inside them, which was a totally dark space, with relaxing incense and soothing music. It apparently promoted the relaxation of Pokemon inside, and would do wonders for their alertness and peppiness.

The Viridian City Pokemon Center was one of the places where the relaxation pods, which were still relatively new, were available.

There were a few relaxation pods in the Oak Corall, but Alex had never made use of them, as Charmeleon, Lapras, and Magneton wouldn't fit in the current models, and Baby stage Pokemon were not recommended to spend time inside the model.

Machop was both within the right size range, was old enough to use the pods, and needed relaxation. And Alex had no concern about the cost of renting the pod for the night.

"Machop is quite tired. Other than that, it's just fine" said Nurse Joy as she returned Machop back to Alex. Alex thanked Nurse Joy, and went to the room he rented in the Pokemon Center, and released all his Pokemon.

"Charizard, Magneton, Lapras, I would like you to meet Machop" said Alex to the three Pokemon that hadn't seen Machop yr as he didn't train them during his afternoon session. The three Pokemon briefly acknowledged Machop and began eating the food Alex had laid out for them.

The room he had rented was large enough to accommodate all his Pokemon, and had a small pool for Water type Pokemon too. He then had Machop crawl into the relaxation pod he had rented, wished it a good night, and switched it on.

"Guys, we might not start travelling until the day after tomorrow, as Machop has a tournament to compete in. So you are going to have to hand right okay?" asked Alex to the three Elite state Pokemon.

The Pewter City Gym and Cerulean City Gym were classified as beginner Gyms, with the Gym Leader's Pokemon being at either the late Novice stage or early Veteran stage. Hence, his three Elite state Pokemon would probably not get a chance to fight.

"There is the Orphal City Gym which is the Flying type Gym in Orphal City to the west of Mount Moon. We will go there soon, and all three of you will have a chance to battle" comforted Alex seeing their faces.

"For now, good night!" said Alex, as he withdrew all of them except Abra into his Pokeball. He then picked up Abra, and fell asleep cuddling it.
