Chapter 29: Selection of Secret Treasures from the Secret Realm, Ho-Oh's Feather
In the senior league, Sakura Hayashi unquestionably secured the championship title.
This achievement brought widespread recognition to both her and Hikaru, elevating their reputations not just in Shuimu City but throughout its educational community.
Everyone now knew:
Two freshmen from Shuimu No. 3 High School had won their respective leagues.
After the attack that day, Zhong Yue, who arrived late, examined the old man who had fallen from the Skarmory. After some inquiries, he informed Hikaru that the man was a law enforcer from the Lava Team.
Curious, Hikaru went back to research the Lava Team's background.
It turned out they were a global dark organization, rarely seen in Huaxia due to its strict governance but operating extensively in China.
In essence, they were akin to Team Rocket from the Pokémon anime, focusing on stealing Pokémon.
When Zhong Yue asked Hikaru who had helped him escape the ambush, Hikaru truthfully recounted the event but carefully concealed Gengar's involvement.
Zhong Yue didn't probe further and instead directed him to choose from the secret treasures obtained during the realm exploration.
"You're lucky," Zhong Yue remarked.
The treasures unearthed from this exploration were quite impressive. They say fortune favors those who survive perilous events.
Most of the treasures were A-grade or higher. Additionally, new information had updated the realm's classification to a C-grade medium-sized secret realm, with the strongest wild Pokémon reaching gym-leader level.
Using his Eye of Investigation, Hikaru carefully selected two treasures tailored for Ralts.
The first was an A-grade Psychic Stone, which could significantly enhance a Pokémon's aptitude. However, for Ralts, whose natural aptitude was already exceptional, the effect was only marginal.
Even so, Hikaru believed this little boost was enough to nudge Ralts closer to championship-level potential.
The second treasure was a Psychic Gem. Its effect amplified the Pokémon's first use of psychic abilities by 1-1.8 times, depending on the user's strength. This boost applied at the start of every battle until the gem's energy was exhausted.
Both treasures were worth millions, underscoring Hikaru's good fortune.
But the most extraordinary item was yet to come—a feather.
[Ho-Oh's Feather]: A feather that fell from Ho-Oh, imbued with the flames of life.
Ho-Oh!
Since the advent of Pokémon secret realms, such legendary creatures had yet to make an appearance in the real world. Even the Record of Divine Beasts—a compendium of divinely powerful Pokémon compiled by humans—contained no mention of Ho-Oh.
Without hesitation, Hikaru chose the feather.
As for why Ho-Oh's feather appeared in the realm, that was a mystery far beyond his current scope of understanding.
Even Zhong Yue didn't comment further. The feather exuded a fiery aura so potent that even Charizard seemed tempted by it.
Since the treasure had already been offered for selection, there was no turning back.

A Week Later
In an abandoned, half-constructed building, Hikaru trained diligently with his Pokémon.
"Ralts, Protect! Charmeleon, Flame Fist!"
Winning the sophomore league hadn't made either Pokémon complacent. If anything, the earlier ambush had only strengthened their resolve to grow stronger.
Ralts, in particular, was determined to master Protect. The memory of being helpless against Weavile's brutal assault still haunted it, especially since Hikaru's life had hung by a thread.
The fiery punch collided with the protective barrier, sending ripples through the air. A crisp shattering sound followed, but the shield had successfully blocked the attack.
Charmeleon scratched its head, looking sheepish.
In just a week, thanks to its "Heavenly King"-level potential, it had fully absorbed the flames imbued in Ho-Oh's feather.
This bestowed upon it a new ability.
[Pokémon: Charmeleon]
[Ability: Solar Power (Life Aura)]
[Gender: Male]
[Potential: Heavenly King]
[Level: 19]
[Moves: Scratch, Flame Fist, Fire Spin, Flamethrower, Scary Face, Ember, Brick Break, Slash...]
[Equipped Traits: Purification (fixed), Hard Work Pays Off (fixed), Food Supply Station, Flame Splash, Quick Recovery]
The Life Aura ability was fascinating. Essentially, it acted as a superior version of Leech Seed. Whenever Charmeleon's flames inflicted damage, they would siphon the opponent's vitality and transfer it back to Charmeleon.
Combined with the green trait [Quick Recovery], the effects were further amplified in forested environments due to [Forest Companion].
In essence, Charmeleon was a near-invincible powerhouse unless taken out in a single blow.
"Ralts~" (Blocked it~)
Ralts cheered gleefully. All the training over the past week had finally paid off—it could now protect Hikaru effectively in the future.
"The school scheduled the secret realm exploration for National Day..." Hikaru mused.
He patted Ralts on the head, praising its efforts, before checking the time.
It was the start of a new week.
---
Hikaru eagerly opened the entry system. Over the past few weeks, he had been crafting energy cubes himself instead of relying on the system's store.
His growing proficiency as an "expert-level" breeder ensured the cubes were both nutritious and well-suited to his Pokémon's tastes.
By breaking down white and green traits, he had accumulated nearly 300 entry coins. At this rate, he estimated he could afford Bone Spirit Cold Fire in about a month.
Excitedly, he checked the week's new traits.
[Blue Trait (Psychic Cone)]: Gather psychic energy into a cone to deal 80 psychic damage to the target.
Finally, a trait perfectly suited for Ralts!
Hikaru grinned and equipped it.
[Pokémon: Ralts]
[Ability: Telepathy]
[Gender: Female]
[Potential: Heavenly King]
[Level: 16]
[Moves: Growl, Confusion, Double Team, Protect, Psychic Cone, Teleport, Hypnosis...]
[Equipped Traits: Psychic Cone, Battle Drain, Mental Focus (Fixed), Last Whisper...]
Hypnosis was a move Ralts had learned by observing Butterfree's Sleep Powder.
Both Pokémon were steadily growing stronger.
"Lalu~" (I've learned a new move!)
Ralts' soft, sweet voice melted Hikaru's heart.
"That's amazing," he said, gently stroking its silky hair.
Ralts turned crimson, though Hikaru remained clueless as to why.
Satisfied, he glanced at the store for new items. His eyes skimmed past the usual temptations—Bone Spirit Cold Fire and Evolution Keystone—until something new caught his attention.
[Low-level Aura Power]: Grants the chosen individual the ability to harness Aura. Cost: 300 Entry Coins.
Hikaru froze, his gaze fixed on the item.
His balance stood at 301 coins.
After a long pause, he decided to lock the trait for future purchase.
But just as he was about to close the system, an announcement popped up.
[Congratulations, Host! Fortune smiles upon you...]
