If Quinn felt like dying before, then his mood now can be compared to flying through the sky!
Without bringing up any of his other problems, at least his safety in this world is guaranteed.
"So now... Cramorant!" Quinn ordered, "Use Spacial Rend!"
"Hey?"
Cramorant held his head with his wings, showing his indomitable strength!
One second... two seconds... three seconds passed- and you could faintly hear a crow in the distance.
Cramorant tilted his head, his eyes dull, staring at Quinn.
Quinn silently stared back.
'No way? Could it be that Cramorant refused to obey my command because my trainer level was not high enough?'
Quinn hesitated for a while, thinking about the one hundred favorability level displayed on Cramorant's status, squatted down and pointed at himself asking, "Do you know me?"
Cramorant finally stopped holding his head... and instead reached his head down to play with the stones on the ground with his beak.
Quinn once again silently stared at Cramorant.
He stretched out his hand patting Cramorant, and after confirming that he would not resist his touch, Quinn picked him up from the ground.
"Hey?" Cramorant made a questioning noise.
Quinn asked, "Can you understand me?"
Cramorant froze for only a moment, then turned his head using his mouth to tidy up his feathers. Quinn looked at this and had a general guess about what is happening. Cramorant does not resist his touch, which means it should know him.
But it does not respond to commands and voices. There are one of two reasons for this- one, Cramorant couldn't understand him. That, or Cramorant doesn't care.
Quinn, who is new to being a trainer, is confused.
'Could it be that in the anime and games, in which Pokémon are born with the ability to understand humans, isn't real?' he thought sullenly.
In other words, the Cramorant doesn't understand what he's saying?
As we all know, the Pokémon in the game is just a string of data without emotions. All its behavior patterns and abilities are set by the programmer in advance. Thinking of this, Quinn picked up a stone from the ground and threw it into the river while observing Cramorant's reaction. The stone hitting the water made a crisp popping noise. As the stone hit the water, Cramorant quickly raised his head, and looked in that direction.
Seeing this, he thought, 'I don't understand. If it has normal reactions, shouldn't it give me some response?'
But now is not the time to struggle with this. Quinn is ready to get out of the forest, and see if other trainers can help him figure out the problem. He recalled Cramorant back into the master ball, and then got up and started walking along the river.
A water source is the most important thing for anything alive- since ancient times, tribes and villages have been built near water sources, so the chances of finding the way out of the forest while walking down the river is much higher than running around like a headless chicken.
Because of the Beedrill swarm he encountered before, he walked much slower and was constantly alert. But even so, he still attracted the attention of some wild Pokémon. The Ekans in the grass, the Weedle on the tree, Poliwag playing by the water, and even a rare Gulpin. These Pokémon did not attack Quinn, they just watched him curiously from a distance.
Quinn looked very excited- real Pokémon! The game can hardly show just how cool the real thing is!
(E/N -- Arceus Legends DID do that, but I suppose it wasn't released then...)
'I really want to try touching them!'
Although he really wants to, his reasoning is telling him that if he does go and do it, he'll probably end up getting attacked by the nervous Pokémon.
Walking away with difficulty, and walking for a while- Quinn felt that the pain from his waist began to become worse and harder to ignore. Pulling up his shirt, he found that the light purple area began to spread, while deepening in color. 'This isn't good... it's spreading fast.' he thought.
He needs to detoxify himself as soon as possible, things can only get worse if he doesn't. It doesn't help that he's only getting hungrier too...
The remnants of summer have not completely dissipated- with the arrival of noon, the temperature has also begun to rise. Quinn can feel the humidity in the air, using his knowledge as a thirty year old man, it's going to rain soon.
'Poliwag and Ekans... is this the Kanto region?' Quinn thought uncertain.
But soon, the Skwovet that appeared on the tree branch made him toss that thought away. Skwovet, who was introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, is a Pokémon from the Galar region.
Thinking about it carefully, the game is going to be different from reality. The game is divided into generations- the first generation naturally doesn't have the Pokémon of the later generations, but the games of the later generations keep the Pokémon of the previous generations.
This also means that the Pokémon in the Galar region and the Unova region are likely to appear in other regions...
Cutting himself from his thoughts, without water and food for a whole morning, Quinn is thirsty and hungry.
He saw the Skwovet stuffing a berry into its cheek happily. Skwovet have similar habits to squirrels in reality, and they have the habit of storing food for winter in advance in autumn. So, maybe you can find something to eat by following it. If he's lucky, maybe he can find a Pecha berry to cure his poison...
After hesitating for a moment, Quinn made a decisive decision to follow the Skwovet. Maybe it would lead him out of the forest.
This area is a familiar place for the Skwovet, so it's not very vigilant, holding a berry within its cheek pouch and jumping back and forth between the trees merrily.
Quinn followed closely behind, stopping and hiding behind a big tree, watching the merry Skwovet throw the berry from its cheek into the hole of a large tree that wasn't too high up. After depositing its stock, the Skwovet left. Probably in search of more berries for winter.
Quinn quickly ran over, balancing on his tippy-toes and barely managed to stretch his arm into the tree hole. Saying sorry in his heart, he pulled out a berry from the tree. As soon as he grabbed it, the related information appeared in his mind.
[Oran Berry: After eating it, it can restore a little energy of the Pokémon who eats it. ]
This was not the berry he was looking for, so he placed the Oran berry in his left hand, and stretched his arm back in the tree... But before he could, a squeak of shock sounded from the tree trunk above.
Quinn mechanically raised his head and looked at the Skwovet who had returned with another berry.
"..."
"..."
An awkward silence fell over the two as they looked at each other. Thinking to himself, 'I was once a stable adult with a job and house... now I'm caught red-handed stealing from a pseudo-squirrel in another world...'
This is the first time that Quinn had done such a thing his whole life. He subconsciously pulled his hand back and stretched out his right hand as if to plead his innocence.
But Pokémon are very different from ordinary animals, and far more intelligent. The Skwovet pointed at his left paw with sharp eyes looking at Hu Yang's left hand and made a squeak of accusation.
Staring in silence, Quinn snapped back into reality- but before he could do anything, an angry Skwovet fell from the sky, and Quinn was unable to stay standing before he was thrown to the ground by the wannabe-assassin.
(E/N -- Felt like slipping a reference in there, it felt right. Although not sure if Ezio would enjoy being compared to a squirrel Pokémon...)
The small paws of the Skwovet fell on his forehead again and again. Quinn quickly grabbed one of it's arms, handing over the Oran berry- yelling loudly, "Wait! It was my fault, I'll give it back to you!"
After all, it was without any doubt his fault.
The Skwovet took it and snorted. Suddenly, its nose twitched, and its eyes shifted to Quinn's waist. It smelled the poison and blood on this human.
Quinn noticed its actions and pulled up his shirt, rolling over to show the poisoned wound, and pitifully said, "I'm sorry, I have no bad intentions stealing your things! I was poisoned. If I don't detoxify, I will die soon."
There was a trace of fear in his heart as he said this. If Cramorant couldn't understand what he said, can other wild Pokémon?
Facts show that it is indeed possible! All because he saw Skwovet hesitated for a moment, ran over to the tree hole, rummaged inside for a minute, and finally came out holding a pink heart-shaped berry.
Its fluffy face was full of distress, staring at the berry for a long while. As if it had made a major life-changing decision, it pushed the fruit into Quinn's hand with a resolute expression.
[Pecha Berry: Has the magical ability to cure poisoning. ]
Quinn was shocked- saying, "Are you giving this to me?" While thinking, 'Are wild Pokémon so kind?'
The Skwovet nodded, squeaked twice, and then stretched out his right leg for Quinn to see.
Only then did he notice that there was a small pink bandage tied into a bow on his leg, which was previously covered by the fur on the little guy's body, so he didn't notice it.
'That is a style that only humans can tie...' he thought.
Quinn was stunned, he had a guess to what had happened- thinking, 'This Skwovet has been rescued by a human before, so it has goodwill towards humans and chose to help me!'
Thinking of this, a faint excitement rose in Quinn's heart.
Thank you all for reading this chapter! Once again if you notice anything off or that could be worded better, do leave a comment and let me know! I hope you all have a wonderful morning!
