Chapter 49: The Battle Continues
"Sister, he actually dares to underestimate us. Teach him a lesson!"
"Okay, let's show them what we're made of. Go, Poliwag!"
"Go, Oddish!"
The two girls across from them appear to be sisters. After hearing Yuto's arrogant words, they angrily send out their Pokémon!
"Water type combining with Grass type, huh?"
"Then let's go, Charmeleon! Treat them nicely!"
Yuto laughs heartily as he throws the Poké Ball, and the robust Charmeleon appears on the field, letting out a fierce roar.
Scary!
The sisters and their adorable Pokémon are taken aback by the imposing Charmeleon's entrance and all step back in unison.
Ryoma shakes his head slightly and releases Sandshrew.
"Don't be afraid; Charmeleon is a Fire type Pokémon, and Poliwag has the attribute disadvantage."
"And Sandshrew is a Ground type Pokémon, my Oddish also has the attribute advantage. This match is ours."
The older sister's eyes shine with intelligence, looking confident!
"You've memorized the type advantages quite well."
Yuto smiles, finding the sisters rather cute. When the match is over, should he ask for their phone numbers?
"Hmph, Poliwag, use Water Gun Attack on Charmeleon!"
"Oddish, charge in and use Absorb on Sandshrew!" The sisters command with great spirit.
"Your opponent is me! Charmeleon, use Flamethrower!"
Boom!
As Yuto's voice falls, a massive Flamethrower erupts from Charmeleon's mouth, directly meeting Poliwag's Water Gun!
In the next moment, under Poliwag's incredulous gaze, the Flamethrower sweeps sideways, overpowering the Water Gun and smashing into Poliwag, sending it flying with a loud explosion!
"Ah hahaha! Charmeleon, continue! Rush over and use Scratch on Oddish!"
After taking out Poliwag with Flamethrower, Charmeleon's claws glimmer with a flash of white light as it charges towards Oddish. With Oddish's distressed cry, Charmeleon swipes it away with a single claw strike!
The outcome is clear; Charmeleon has decisively won the match!
"Hahaha! The outcome has been determined!"
"Ryoma, wait for me here! I'll be right back!"
After the end of the match, Yuto excitedly takes out his phone and runs in the direction the sisters left.
A few minutes later, Yuto returns with a dejected expression, two small handprints perfectly imprinted on his face.
"Um, looks like that tactic didn't work."
Ryoma shakes his head slightly and then crosses out the strategy he just noted in his little notebook.
Soon, the morning battles come to a close. According to the battle rules, winners will be determined within each group before facing other groups.
After the morning's battles, in arena number 7, the victorious competitors are numbers 71, 72, 74, along with their number 77 and 79.
Contestant 71 will match up against 72, 74 will face 77, and 79 will battle contestant number 69 from group six.
After the end of the match, Ryoma and Yuto quickly exit the arena, heading out to enjoy a nice meal with Sandshrew and Charmeleon.

In the afternoon, Yuto and Ryoma arrived early at the school playground. With their match not starting yet, they took the opportunity to watch a few matches from other groups.
They paid particular attention to Group Six because, after advancing from their group, they would inevitably face the winner of Group Six.
As they watched, they were quite surprised; within Group Six, a team had unleashed two Scyther.
Relying on Scyther's speed, their opponents didn't even have time to react and were instantly taken out!
"Those two must be fake rookie Trainers. The strength of those two Scyther is almost at the intermediate level; there's no way any rookie could have raised them!" Yuto exclaimed as he jumped up, his voice filled with certainty.
"You're no different," Ryoma rolled his eyes at the excited Yuto.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Yuto smiled awkwardly. He got too worked up and nearly forgot that he was also a fake rookie Trainer. They were pretty much on the same level.
So the question is, who is the half pound and who is the eight taels?
"With my Charmeleon's type advantage, I should have no problem dealing with one Scyther," Yuto thought for a moment.
"These two Scyther exhibit a very good synergy; their relationship might be quite special. If we face them, we need to be careful," Ryoma's expression turned serious.
"Those two guys have a special connection?" Yuto squinted his eyes, scanning back and forth between the two.
Ryoma nodded slightly and checked his phone. It was already three o'clock in the afternoon; their match was about to begin, so they headed straight to arena number 7 next door.
When they arrived at the venue, the previous round's match had concluded a while ago. It was now halftime, and they would be going on shortly.
Looking towards the opposite competitors' preparation area, Ryoma soon noticed a couple who were being quite affectionate and laughing together.
"Ugh, seeing them flaunt their love makes me sick!" Yuto grumbled with a hint of jealousy. "Forget it, let me handle this match; you just keep your strength hidden!"
"Then it's all yours."
Ryoma shrugged nonchalantly. He had watched the couple's earlier battle, and they weren't particularly strong Trainers. While it might be a bit challenging for Charmeleon to face two opponents, it wasn't impossible.
And even if Charmeleon lost, Sandshrew would definitely be able to clean up the mess!
"Please send out your Pokémon, prepare for battle!"
"In a 2v2 double battle, each trainer will use one Pokémon. The match ends when one side's two Pokémon are unable to continue battling!"
Soon, the halftime ended, and the four trainers took their positions on the field. At the referee's command, both trainers took out their Poké Balls and released their Pokémon into the arena.
On Ryoma's side was the combination of Charmeleon and Sandshrew, while their opponents sent out a Nidoran couple!
"Damn, even their Pokémon are a couple. How annoying!"
Yuto's hidden anger flared up again as he clenched his fists, determined to give them a show!
"Be careful; their Pokémon are poison types, so don't get poisoned."
