Still trying to normalize her breathing, Alita swallowed the imaginary lump that had formed in her throat, then trudged to the bed and sat down beside Axel.
She noticed that the cut on her lip wasn't stinging anymore and she tested it with her tongue to realize that it has closed up. Her face twisted into a confused frown as she pondered on it. Her injuries, even though she hadn't had much of them, never healed this fast before. So what changed?
After pondering for a few seconds, she waved it off, dismissing it to be a result of the wound being small.
"Lie down." She heard Axel say when he felt the side of the bed where she sat dip. He had his eyes closed, an action he took the moment he saw her approaching the bed.
