Alita stood in front of Kayla's grave as tears ran down her face. She kept repeating 'I'm sorry, please forgive me' inside her mind as her heavy heart bled. 

It's been seven days since the incident and she only came back to Greenlight City today. She had followed the news consistently until the day of her funeral was announced. One thing though that wasn't clear to her was why they dismissed and closed the case without further investigation.

She should have been incriminated if further investigation had been carried out as she was the last person holding Kayla before the police arrived. She was very sure that her fingerprints would be all over Kayla's body. But nothing of such was brought up.

Not that she wanted to be involved in the case. In fact, she had been in hiding since she came to Cianti. She never left the hotel even for one day and she destroyed her phone after careful consideration.
