Lu AnLing said her goodbyes to Mingyu and Kang Jun and now, she was left all alone in the room
Once they left, closing the door behind them, Lu AnLing let her body fall backward onto Kang Jun's bed.
"Hello Ah Jun," Lu AnLing heard the girl say lovingly in her mind. The voice was one she remembered in a hazy kind of way but Lu AnLing couldn't put her finger on it. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and tried to remember where she had heard that voice before.
Suddenly her skin began to crawl.
Lu AnLing let her mind wander and rummaged through the memories; some better left forgotten. Words from the past barged their way into her mind.
She understood why the voice was one she recognized… She had heard the same voice long long ago.
At first, only Lu Shuya voice echoed in her mind.
"That's a bastards baby, and you still dare to keep it?!"
"You made a mistake. Handle it yourself."
"The least you can do is give up the Lu family some face."
Lu AnLing curled her body like a shrimp. She felt her whole being tremble in pain at her thoughts. She clutched her aching stomach hard as hot tears streamed down her face… but they were fake. She wasn't actually crying in the present, despite it feeling like she was.
She continued to think.
"Hello, Ah Jun…"
"Hello…"
Suddenly, the voice overlapped with another. It was a slightly different pitch; less girlish and more professional.
"Hello…"
"Hello, Miss Lu." A young nurse said sweetly. Gazing at Lu AnLing who was barefooted and in her hospital gown. Seeing this, the young nurse began to frown. "What are you doing out here?"
Lu AnLing was slightly shaken up but she still recognized the woman. It was the one who had carried her baby out of the room after she'd given birth. She might have been disoriented but she could still remember certain moments and events. This included the pain, the doctor's voice, and a nurse... this nurse.
"What happened to my baby?" Lu AnLing asked shakily.
She barely had any strength left in her, but she couldn't collapse. At least not until she saw her baby.
The nurse looked at Lu AnLing with some confusion and then she turned to whisper something in the ear of the doctor who had been standing by her side the whole time. Seeing this action, Lu AnLing began to feel her pulse quicken.
Something was strange… no, something was wrong.
"Where is my baby?!" Lu AnLing repeated the same question again but this time she screamed it.
In fear, the young nurse stepped back and the doctor put himself between them.
"Miss Lu, please calm down!" The doctor said firmly, but Lu AnLing didn't listen.
"No! I want to see my baby!" Lu AnLing ran to grab onto the woman arm, and then she began to shake her.
The same question was being repeated over and over again.
Lu AnLing just wanted her baby. The baby she had kept safe in her stomach for nine months. The baby she had decided to keep no matter the judgment and hate of her mother and sister. The child she sacrificed her future for.
Without that child, her whole life was meaningless.
"Miss Lu!" The young nurse screamed. Pain and disgust filled her eyes. She was afraid of Lu AnLing but the young nurse couldn't just shake the girl off.
Suddenly, two men came from the corridor and grabbed onto Lu AnLing. Once she was restrained, the nurse walked over and looked at Lu AnLing sharply. "You just gave birth, you must calm down. You don't want anything bad to happen to you."
Bad? Wasn't this already bad enough?!
Lu AnLing's eyes began to tear up.
"I don't care. I want... to see… my baby…" Lu AnLing began to sob uncontrollably as she struggled in the grasp of the two men. They held her arms, tightening their grip at every motion she made. She could feel her whole body ache and burn, but she refused to stop her struggle.
"I'm afraid you can't." The young nurse's words were like a bomb exploding in Lu AnLing's mind. "You've already signed the papers Miss Lu. The child has been adopted."
Lu AnLing's head began to grow fuzzy and all her senses began to dull. She's been pretty out of it during labor and after she'd given birth but there was no way she'd signed anything. Lu AnLing shut her eyes hard...
The girl was so physically and mentally weak at the moment that thinking back to her labor, she began to feel as if she was being ripped apart.
Her child was gone?
Adopted?
Who gave these bastards the right to take her child from her?
She didn't remember signing papers. They were lying! They must be lying!
"I did no such thing!" Lu AnLing's voice was piercing.
The nurse winced at the sound and took a step back.
A fire began to burn in Lu AnLing's eyes as she shoved the men. She almost got out of their grasp but they were able to catch her again. They pulled her backward forcing her to fall hard on her butt. They continued to hold her down viciously. The pain in her arms was becoming unbearable but it didn't compare to the pain in her heart.
Lu AnLing had lost her child. The thought sank into her mind quickly.
With a snap, she felt her sanity slip away.
Her voice came out in screams and sobs. "Ahhhhh give my child… give my child back to me!"
Looking at the scene, the nurse furrowed her eyebrows before she turned to the doctor. "Ask her family what should be done with her."
He nodded and left down the corridor.
As Lu AnLing continued to scream and cry, she felt a sharp pain in her arm. When she turned to look at it, with her tear-filled eyes, she saw a long sharp needle piercing her skin. She began to feel woozy. Then, her eyes blurred until all she could see was darkness.
Remembering such pain in the present, Lu AnLing's heart could help but beat fast and her stomach contracted hard forcing her body to bend forward even more than she had been before.
That was day was something she hated thinking about.
Thinking about how everything had turned out, Lu AnLing couldn't help but sneer.
In the hospital, when she'd finally woken up, a week had passed. She was heartbroken over her child. So much so that she didn't want to eat and it was hard for her to sleep.
Seeing her like that, her mother had decided to send her to a center for mental health recuperation abroad but Lu AnLing didn't get better right away. Back then she'd been so angry, so sad and so… out of control.
She broke down.
She was depressed for so so long after that. It felt as if she'd never lift her spirits. Until one day she received a letter.
Inside there was a picture of a smiling baby and a note saying: "Your child has been safely adopted."
At that moment, Lu AnLing wanted to leave the recuperation center, but was forced to stay there for two years, before she was able to leave…
The year after getting discharged from the center, Lu AnLing took a long time trying to find out what had happened to her child. She'd even traveled back to T City secretly, in order to ask the hospital about adoption records and they'd said.
"I'm sorry ma'am, you have to be specific. Do you remember the name of the doctor in charge? Or the name of your nurse? Do you really expect us to go look through piles and piles of paperwork just for you?"
Hearing that, Lu AnLing's mind had almost broken again. She wanted to scream at them, but she was afraid that causing a scene would get her banned from the hospital forever so she didn't dare.
From that day on, she began to dedicate her like to finding her child.
The coming years she had hired many private investigators and followed many different leads but they'd always ended up at a dead end. The only answer she'd gotten for sure was that the child had been adopted into a very wealthy family.
How else would they be able to kill the leads before Lu AnLing got a chance to follow them?
For a year now she couldn't find any more clues, and then now, here she was.
That woman who'd spoken to Kang Jun so sweetly. It sounded so much like the nurse from the past. Their pitch and their tone were so well matched but she really wouldn't have noticed if the woman's 'hello' hadn't given her away.
They were identical.
It was the first connection she'd been able to make in years.
At the pit of her stomach, Lu AnLing felt a heat, as if a fire had been lit within her. Her mind was bursting with questions.
What was her old nurse doing with Kang Jun's grandfather? Was the old man sick?
Is this really related to her child or was she just reaching?
Also, who was she to Kang Jun? The love in her voice could not be faked.
Those questions, however, were just the tip of the iceberg. She continued to think about them until they made her head hurt. Feeling her phone buzz, she put the thoughts aside for a moment.
LoverBoyMS was Calling.

Across the street from Hotel Helios, there was a nice fancy restaurant that specialized in western foods.
At the table, Kang Mingyu frowned slightly. He was still slightly groggy from this morning but that wasn't the reason for his foul mood.
At first, Kang Mingyu had been happy that he was able to see Lu AnLing so early in the morning, despite her being on top of Kang Jun. Seeing her had made his heart warm and a smile unconsciously creep up on his little chubby face, but then people had to come a ruin it.
Kang Mingyu frowned.
He didn't even care that the person was his grandfather. No one was allowed to ruin his sweet time with his auntie so he showed his emotions plainly on his face.
Watching the boy, Elder Kang was unhappy. He had hoped that visiting the boy would have made him happy, but it seemed like it had an adverse effect.
Kang Jun, who sat beside the boy, also held a similar expression, but Elder Kang didn't expect Kang Jun to be glad to see him either way. The only problem was that his aura was stifling and it felt colder than usual, making the old man feel slightly uncomfortable.
Maybe he had visited them a little too early? It was only 9 am, after all.
Feeling the pressure in the air, Rong Yue Wan was finding it hard to breathe. She didn't understand why Kang Jun's mood was so destructive today. Or was it because she hadn't been this close to him for so long that it only felt worse than usual?
She didn't know.
But feeling the awkwardness spread through the table, Rong Yue Wan had an idea. When she had begun 'dating' Kang Jun, prior to their engagement, the man was nowhere near a gentleman, but when she asked for something, he would get it for her without delay.
Rong Yue Wan was sure that it was because he had feelings for her. Every time they would go out, she acted ditzier than usual and found herself accidentally tripping or dropping things and every time Kang Jun would catch her and pick up what she'd dropped.
Believing he would do it again, Yue Wan bumped her fork with the side of her hand. The fork plummeted to the ground, making a clinking sound which alerted everyone.
They all turned to look at her.
Grandfather gave her an awkward smile as if apologizing for the awkwardness, her uncle looked at her questioningly and Mingyu looked at her with a slight contempt.
Though she didn't notice their stares.
All she was concerned about was Kang Jun. The only one who had no expression at all.
"Ah, I'm so sorry, I'm such a klutz." Rong Yue Wan said as she hit herself on the forehead childishly. "Ah Jun… could you do me a favor and pick that up for me?"
