"Father?!" Mo Sheng said, almost falling over. He then looked at Lu AnLing with the purest expression of confusion. "I-I thought your dad died?"
Lu AnLing frowned. "Well that makes two of us... as you can hear, it's been a hectic month."
Hearing Lu AnLing's sigh as she said this, Mo Sheng froze for a second. He didn't know if he should laugh, ask her more questions or allow her to have her secrets but seeing how Lu AnLing bore holes into his phone, Mo Sheng sighed himself.
"Congratulations, I guess, then... wait... Holy shit, you're a Tang!" Mo Sheng almost screamed this as his eyes widened in Lu AnLing's direction.
Seeing the childish expression on the boys face, Lu AnLing could not help but burst out in laughter. "Wow you're super slow aren't you?"
Hearing this, Mo Sheng crossed his arms over his chest. "No! You're the one who's been hiding things, I see. When were you going to tell me that you're a goddamn Tang?!"
Lu AnLing shook her head. "I just found out myself. My dad used the name Lu Yian, not Tang Yian..."
"Why?" Mo Sheng asked with a frown.
"No idea but I'll make sure to ask him whenever I can..."
Thinking about this, Lu AnLing's face darkened considerably. She truly didn't know how to feel about this situation. She didn't know if she should be happy or angry concerning the situation with her father...
Mo Sheng: "I guess we will win hands down then. That's kinda boring."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing gave a dry laugh.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that..." Lu AnLing said with a sigh.
Lu AnLing wasn't only saying this because Tang Yiling was their opponent, or that her father didn't remember her but she feared that, despite not remembering her from clear memory, that Tang Yian would remember how he felt about her.
It wasn't that the man hated her... but he always expected too much from her and this was suffocating.
Thinking this, Lu AnLing then looked at the guitar which Mo Sheng had left in the corner. Seeing this, memories of Tang Yian teaching her how to play the guitar entered her mind.
The young Lu AnLing played the F cord for the first time and it sounded completely wrong.
Hearing this, Tang Yian frowned.
"You're doing it wrong." The man sighed before he took the guitar right out of the little girl's hands and then he began to strum. "Like this!"
After saying this, Tang Yian handed her the guitar and said. "Again!"
Sadly for Lu AnLing, she just couldn't get it. Seeing this Tang Yian frowned more.
"Your fingers aren't in the right place." Tang Yian sighed and roughly placed Lu AnLing's fingers in the proper place. "Practice the F cord a hundred tunes for the next 20 days."
"100 every day!?" Lu AnLing groaned.
Hearing her whine, Tang Yian looked at the girl dead in the eyes without a sliver of remorse. "You wanted to be a musician right?"
"No... I want to be a singer!" The young Lu AnLing said with annoyance.
Tang Yian frowned at Lu AnLing's answer. "Well don't you think it's shameful for a singer to not play instruments?!"
Lu AnLing did not know what to reply to Tang Yian's words and as soon as the man heard her silence he just left the room.
Lu AnLing had practised and practised and practised after that until she hated the guitar more than anything but once she noticed her progress in it, Lu AnLing felt strangely happy.
The result of ones hard work was always something a person found happiness in.
And then one day, when she felt like she was doing exceptionally well, Lu AnLing decided to compose a small song and then she showed it to her father.
He listened to her intently as she played, without a single reaction until she was finished. When she was done, Lu AnLing smiled wide and then she looked at her father with anticipation. Seeing this, Tang Yian paused for a moment before he said,
"It sounds a bit off and you're not very good at switching between C and F. Practice more."
Hearing this back then, Lu AnLing felt her heartbreak but hearing it in her mind nowadays just made her annoyed.
Seeing her expression, Mo Sheng frowned. "Why do you say that?"
"Well, to begin with, he doesn't remember me. I've actually been replaced by a fake daughter..." Lu AnLing said coldly.
Hearing this, Mo Sheng froze.
Looking at Mo Sheng, Lu AnLing sighed.
Lu AnLing: "I'll explain it all to you whenever we have time... Though, concerning the competition, we just need to practice and work hard... I'm sure we'll do well."
After Lu AnLing said this, there was a knock at the door.

Kang Liang had been spending so many days at Hotel Helios looking for clues about who had drugged Kang Jun and Lu AnLing. Kang Jun had given him access to all the security footage, so Kang Liang had been spending all his time looking through them. So much time that the man began neglecting his music and duties to Halo Stars.
As he sat in a hotel room looking through footage from years ago, Kang Liang frowned and spoke on the phone with Mo Yichen.
Mo Yichen: "You didn't show up to meet your manager today, he's freaking out, thinking that you got yourself involved with some shady people."
"Seriously? Tell him not to worry about that. I'm just... busy..." Kang Liang said.
"You realize you're asking the President of the company you're signed with to do such a menial task for you right?" Mo Yichen's voice sounded annoyed but more than that, he seemed tired with Kang Liang's antics. "Well, I'm not going to do that. Contact him yourself and stop causing trouble. Is what you're 'busy' with even that important? I better not find out that this has to do with some girl or I swear I'm kicking you out of Halo Stars. I don't care, even if my mother and your grandfather come to threaten me."
Kang Liang rolled his eyes. It was about a girl, but it wasn't what Mo Yichen was insinuating.
Sure, Kang Liang flirted with girls, but he never went out of his way or neglected his music for them. He wasn't interested in love. Just fun, though he always respected the women he was with.
Kang Liang: "It's not what you think, okay? So, can you help me out a bit? You know how my manager is. If I contact him, he'll just be annoying. I have something really important to do, so I don't have time for that..."
Mo Yichen: "More important than your music."
Kang Liang laughed dryly. "I would be at Halo Stars right now if it wasn't.
Hearing this, Mo Yichen didn't speak for a second.
Kang Liang loved music and acting. It was his way of being close to his mother. He even adopted a part of his mother's name in the hopes that one day the woman would one day notice him...
Neglecting this, was not something Kang Liang would do.
Because of the silence, Kang Liang brought his whole attention to the screen of his computer, and then he suddenly saw Lu AnLing holding onto Kang Zhi in some footage. They were headed to the elevator.
Once inside. Kang Liang could no longer see anything so he quickly found the elevator footage.
Bringing his face closer to his computer screen Kang Liang's eyes widened.
The two made their way up.
Then the door opened and they got out of the elevator.
Seeing this, Kang Liang sighed. He then searched through the files to see where they had gone after.
As he begun his search, Mo Yichen sighed.
Mo Yichen: "Fine. But never again. I'll give you as much time as you need to do whatever it is you're doing but after this is done, you better make it up to the company."
Kang Liang heard every word of what Mo Yichen had said but just as Mo Yichen spoke, Kang Liang stumbled upon the video of Kang Zhi bringing Lu AnLing to the room.
Lu AnLing was dead drunk and Kang Zhi didn't look right either but still, the man treated the girl with care.
Kang Zhi dragged her carefully until he got close to her room number but then, before finding it, At the end of the hall, Kang Zhi stopped.
Looking closer, Kang Liang's eye widened as he saw Kang Jun partially passed out of the floor.
