'Father...?' Kang Liang's mind thought.
This revelation did not help with Kang Liang's confusion. Actually he was even more confused. Looking around the room, he tried to get answers from Kang Jun and Mo Sheng but both of their faces showed Kang Liang that they had already known. The only one who bore confusion was Rong Xin but, as if realizing that it was none of his business, soon became emotionless as always.
After doing this, Kang Liang cocked his head Lu AnLing's way and frowned. "Which one...?"
Lu AnLing: "Tang Yian."
In complete shock, Kang Liang couldn't help but repeat her words. "Tang. Yi. An?!"
Lu AnLing nodded. "Long story short. He got into an accident when I was young and he doesn't remember me. All I want is for him to remember me. If I lose the competition but he remembers me, then I consider it a win."
Kang Liang nodded slowly but he did not know what to say. He couldn't comfort Lu AnLing and neither could he fault her for her logic. Despite what he believed when it came to music, Lu AnLing had more important things that she was fighting for, though he couldn't help but turn to Mo Sheng and ask,
"Are you okay with this?"
Looking at Kang Liang, Mo Sheng shrugged. "Of course! Why wouldn't I be?"
Mo Sheng had blind faith and trust in Lu AnLing. They had been friends since high school and by now he understood that the girl had been through a lot. In the small amount of time when Lu AnLing had gotten with Kang Jun, she had been slowly regaining the things, which Mo Sheng believed that she rightfully deserved. So he could not stop her.
Mo Sheng had lived a privileged life without any real problems so he didn't understand what it felt like to truly hurt. And so, he had decided long ago to help and support Lu AnLing whenever she needed him even if that meant going against what others told him was right.
Watching as Mo Sheng's face became very determined Kang Liang could not say anything.
"Anyways, what about you? Why are you here?" Lu AnLing asked Kang Liang softly.
Hearing this, Kang Liang's awkward gaze turned towards Kang Jun before he laughed slightly. "Yeah... well, I'm here to talk to my brother."
Kang Liang was hoping that his brother would bail him out by telling him to come to his office but instead, Kang Jun did not react to what Kang Liang had said. Feeling as if the man needed a bit more information, Kang Liang said,
"...it's about the investigation?..."
After he said this, Kang Jun lifted his cold eyes to Kang Liang. His gaze was less sharp, yet colder. As if he was trying to distance himself.
Kang Jun: "Speak..."
Kang Liang could sense something off from his brother's demeanour but he did not say anything about it.
"Uhhh..." Kang Liang said looking about the room. "Saying it with your wife present is one thing.... but..."
As he continued to find words to say, Kang Liang felt Rong Xin and Mo Sheng's eyes boring holes into him. This caused nervousness to stop him from speaking his mind.
Lu AnLing immediately noticed this and she quite easily deduced why this feeling arose so she said,
"Whatever you have to say, it's fine to say it in front of them."
Hearing Lu AnLing say this, Kang Liang looked at Rong Xin awkwardly. He trusted Mo Sheng since Kang Liang had known the boy since he was a kid but Rong Xin was a completely different matter.
Seeing Kang Liang's reaction, Lu AnLing understood quite well what he was thinking and she knew that his reaction was reasonable but by then, Lu AnLing trusted Rong Xin with her life. He was her bodyguard, after all. But that wasn't the only reason. She trusted him because he was not one to hide his true intentions or emotions.
"Just say it." Lu AnLing commanded.
Hearing this, Kang Liang did as told. Though he was shocked at how much Lu AnLing reminded him of Kang Jun.
"Okay... well... I found the missing tapes that show how the two of you ended up... together." Kang Liang said a bit meekly.
As soon as he said this, Kang Jun walked up to him and then he showed Kang Liang his open palm. Understanding what Kang Jun meant, Kang Liang handed the black USB over.
Feeling the USB in his hand, Kang Jun frowned slightly. This small little stick contained the truth. Or at least a semblance of the truth.
Without a second thought and without caring who was in the room, Kang Jun plugged the USB into the smart TV.
Seeing this, Kang Liang was shocked. He thought that this whole investigation would be a secret but it didn't seem like Kang Jun cared about this anymore.
When the contents of the USB showed up on the screen, Kang Liang directed Kang Jun to the right videos.
Then, before Kang Liang played it, Kang Jun and Lu AnLing took a seat on the couch.
After pressing play, In a matter of seconds, the video from the elevator began to play.
In terms of context, Kang Jun knew that this was after Kang Zhi had taken over helping Lu AnLing. Kang Jun had staggered into the elevator.
Inside, Kang Jun held onto his pounding head for a moment as he began to breathe a bit harder.
He looked exhausted.
Suddenly, the elevator doors were about to close but then a man wearing a baseball bap and long sleeves ran right inside the elevator, accidentally bumping into Kang Jun. This was strange because it was hot during that period of time...
The man immediately apologized to Kang Jun. However, because Kang Jun wasn't feeling well and because it was in his nature, all Kang Jun did was glare at the nosy man.
The man thanked Kang Jun for keeping the door open for him despite him not doing anything of the sort. After that, the man gazed upon Kang Jun and he spoke again before he reached into his black duffel bag. Once he pulled his hand out, out came a water bottle.
Handing it to Kang Jun, the man spoke once more.
Seeing this, Mo Sheng frowned. "What's he saying?!"
"Sir are you alright? Here's some water." Rong Xin narrated without taking his eyes off the screen.
Hearing Rong Xin's voice, Mo Sheng looked up at the tall lanky man and smiled.
Since Rong Xin's eyes were concentrated on the screen he did not realize this at all but Lu AnLing and Kang Liang, who both had a clear view of the boy noticed this instantly but they did not bring it up.
Meanwhile, on screen, the man grabbed onto Kang Jun who had partially fainted and dragged him out of the elevator.
After this, the video suddenly ended. Kang Liang was about to show another one but then, he suddenly heard a voice.
Looking at the video with a frown, Rong Xin said, "Could you rewind it a bit.."
Kang Liang nodded and then he did as such.
"Stop!" Rong Xin suddenly said as Kang Liang was rewinding.
The man's loud voice caused Kang Liang to jump slightly. But thankfully he had stopped on time.
Rong Xin then walked up to the TV and tapped on the screen. "Look."
On the screen, it clearly showed the man pickpocketing something from Kang Jun's pocket.
"What is that?" Rong Xin asked simply.
Looking at the screen, Kang Liang has no idea but Kang Jun then said, "My room key."
