Giant Wolf

'It's should be about 4:00 PM now, so I should go back home in an hour or so. I don't want to worry mom a second time this week. My Mana will deplete in an hour anyways so that's some good timing.' Mason said, happy about his gains.

After some more hours of grinding, that was all he gained. He noticed he started to find less beasts even in the center of the forest. He thought he probably killed most of them, but he couldn't be more wrong.

"Okay! In this last hour i want to reach at least 300 system points! That should be realistic enough." Mason yelled happily.

After 10 minutes, he found another beast.

"System, what level is this one?" Mason asked.

Even though he could easily kill anything below level 5, Mason still asked their levels every time. If it could kill him, he had to be cautious.

[The beast is level 5, Host.] The System answered.

"Hmm, I'll create a distance of 25 meters between me and the bear then."

Although he had already killed a level 5 bear, last time he got overconfident and the beast got scarily close to him. So he took the maximum distance where he was confident he could both hit, and run.

After using the tactic he was most proud of: Bush camping. He used the skill Ice Domain.

[Ice Domain: Turns the area 30 meters around the caster into ice. Causes a 5% drop in defense to the target, and a 5% boost in attack for the caster. Cost 100 Mana]

After his surroundings had fully turned into ice, Mason used Freeze.

[Freeze: Freezes the target on the spot for a maximum of 5 seconds depending on level of the target. Cost 50 Mana]

After his preparations, the silver haired kid quickly spammed as mana Ice Bullets as he could.

[Ice Bullet: A projectile of Ice that deals a maximum of 200 damage, depending on the level of the target. Cost 50 Mana]

This was Masons favourite combo, and it had slain a lot of beasts already. The bear he was killing right now took 3 Ice Bullets. As Level 5 Bears usually had around 500-600 HP.

Mason also decided to take a look at his Mana, since he felt the last battle used up quite a lot.

"System, show my current mana."

'I'm running kind of low, I should be able to kill 2 more Level 3's. After that I'll go back home, my goal was 300 system points so that's perfect.' Mason thought.

After walking around the forest for a bit, he found some footprints. He knew they weren't from a bear since they were shaped differently. This scared him a bit since so far, he only had experience with bears. He shook off those thoughts. 'I can kill anything under level 5 easily, so it shouldn't be a problem.' the kid thought.

After walking around for another 20 minutes, he still couldn't find any beasts. Mason was getting annoyed as he needed just 2 more kills to go. But he got a jumpscare when he suddenly heard loud footsteps coming from behind him.

'That's not a fucking bear, it's at least twice as quick as one.' He thought anxiously.

"System, can you tell what kind of beast that is and it's level?"

[Level 10: Giant Wolf]

Just as the Wolf came into sight, the system confirmed what beast it was. Mason knew the beast had already seen it, and by it's footsteps he already heard that it was way faster than he was.

The Wolf looked at Mason with what looked like a smile on it's face, it didn't like the taste of bears. This human however, looked like a delicacy in it's eyes.

"System, buy 2 Low-grade Mana Potions" Mason said as fast as he could, and he drank both of them.

"Use Normal Wheel of Fortune once!"

Spinning the Wheel wasn't instant, Mason already knew that it would take around 7 seconds for it to finish. Of course, the Wolf wouldn't wait that long. As it was already pouncing on Mason.

'Damn, how the fuck do I stall this for another 6 seconds?' Mason thought in panic.

He discarded useless thoughts as he used Ice Wall twice, since he knew the Wolf would probably easily get through one. He also casted Ice Domain and Freeze. Then, he spammed Ice Bullet as fast as he could. The wolf broke out of Freeze after only a second, as it immediately rushed towards Mason again.

He asked the System how much HP the wolf still had, and the System answered instantly.

[Giant Wolf: 1000/1500 HP]

"Fuck, why does it have that much HP!" Mason yelled angered by this Wolf.

'I have enough Mana to kill it, but I don't have enough time! My spells don't do enough damage, I just have to bet everything on the Wheel of Fortune!'

Speaking about the Wheel of Fortune, it only had around a second left. Mason quickly used 2 more Ice Walls, because it was his only defensive skill. Freeze was on cooldown for another 10 minutes. So that was out of the question. He knew it had to be soon as he heared his lifeline answer.

Without thinking, Mason immediately casted Ice Golem, this left him with only 150 Mana.

"Golem, attack the Wolf!" Mason yelled

The Ice Golem was about 5 meters tall and had a big body. Mason knew this was definitely a skill that he shouldn't show anyone. Because it was way past his level of Mana Practice.

The Golem stood next to mason as it tanked the strong claws of the Giant Wolf. In response, the golem threw a right hook that threw back the Wolf several meters.

[Giant Wolf HP: 500/1500]

"Damn Golem! Your right hook does 500 damage?" Mason yelled out in excitement as he knew it was his turn to attack now. He used Ice Bullet 3 times, leaving his Mana completely depleted.

Mason was too tired to even notice this notification as he walked back to the village like a zombie. After returning home he quickly jumped in bed and fell asleep.
