Harbinger Of Trouble.

"Between my two daughters, who do you love for real?" Alpha Mills asked Carter for the second time after he failed to give him a response to the first question. 

Carter moved his gaze from Alpha Mills and over to Ariel, his gaze landed. Ariel rolled her eyes and moved her own gaze to the side which caused Carter to swallow hard as he moved his gaze back over to Alpha Mills.

Seconds passed and turned into minutes and there still came no reply for Carter, he had to choose carefully between Ariel and Avril to not make mistakes and create problems for himself later.

Alpha Mills didn't speak a word and kept quiet watching Carter with a firm gaze, why was Carter wasting time on giving him a simple response to the little question he asked him.

Alpha Mills could still remember clearly the day Carter said to Ariel she wasn't the one he loved, but why was Carter now wasting time by not giving him a response to his question?.

Alpha Mills was an Alpha and had a lot of responsibilities to carry out so sitting in a chair all day and waiting for a simple 'I love Avril and not Ariel or I love Ariel and not Avril' from Carter's mouth wasn't helping him out.

He had other important things to take care of, so he opened his mouth to speak but before he could utter a word. Carter, who observed he was about to speak and knew what Alpha Mills would say next, then he spoke first.

"I'm really sorry, but I got no response to that question".

"What?" Alpha Mills was stunned and Ariel who moved her gaze to the side moved it back over to Carter. She heard him wrong right now, didn't she?.

"I don't understand son, what do you mean by you got no response to that question?" Alpha Mills scoffed, "I thought you loved Avril and not Ariel" He shook his head in disbelief still trying to digest the shock he received from Carter.

"I'm sorry father,..I mean Alpha Mills but I never loved Avril, it was all an act" Carter sat erect on the chair and raised his chin to show Alpha Mills he wasn't kidding about what he said to him and what he was still about to say to him.

Alpha Mills couldn't help and asked again, "What?".

"I can't be fully bonded mates with your daughter and I have already talked to her about rejection. I want to reject her" Carter dropped the bombshell.

"What!!!" This time that 'what' came from both Alpha Mills and Ariel.

"What nonsense is this?" Alpha Mills was now angered and got up from his chair, "Do you think my daughter Avril, is some kind of joke?!" Alpha Mills barked, If it wasn't that the situation in the attic wasn't so tense, then Ariel would have laughed her ass out caused by the way her father's face looked.

It was so hideous.

"I'm really sorry Alpha Mills but I know who I truly love now" Carter got up from the chair too and turned towards Ariel's direction and she shook her head negatively for Carter to not spat out any nonsense he was about to say.

But Carter ignored Ariel's signal and said, "I have been lying to myself for a long time now and I don't want to anymore. Ariel's the love of my life" Carter exhaled deeply as if a heavy burden had been lifted off from his chest and pointed to Ariel.

Ariel rolled her eyes, "You are sick, Carter!" She spat out loud to both Carter and her father's hearing which they both ignored.

Alpha Mills ran a hand through his hand pacing around the room while Carter stood still staring at Ariel who was glaring at him. What the hell was Carter trying to prove?Was he trying to prove his love to her? and in front of her father?.

He was just going to land her into another trouble more than the one she was in now.

Because whenever Carter was near her, trouble must be lingering there. It was as if he was the harbinger of trouble.

"Listen to me Carter, I have known your father for years and we have been friends for so long and you yourself wouldn't like it if we become enemies over these issues" Alpha Mills was so angry but had to calm himself down before he did something he would regret later.

"You are not going to reject my daughter, Avril. The both of you are going to get fully mated. Do you understand me?!" Alpha Mills roared. Carter must seriously be kidding him, who the hell does he think he was to try to reject Avril?. 

Does he even think he deserves Avril?.

Ariel wanted to laugh but she held it in, the same thing that happened to her was about to happen to her sister too. Ariel didn't bother herself much after all, she and Avril were twins so if anything happened to her, it was also likely to happen to Avril.

It was just that Avril escaped the part where only she was cursed.

"I'm sorry Alpha Mills but I can't do that" Came Carter's response causing Alpha Mill's to to grab him angrily by the collar of the shirt he put on. Carter didn't try taking Alpha Mill's hands off his shirt, he just kept  staring straight into those eyes of Alpha Mills full of fury.

"You are going to do just as I said and you are not going to reject my daughter Avril or you would have me to face"' Alpha Mills threatened, causing Carter to gulp but he himself wasn't going to back down too.

Ariel didn't utter a word, she just sat still on the floor and dragged her legs up to her chest and used her knees to support her chin as she watched the little drama going on between Carter and her father.

If Carter thinks she would accept him back, if he rejected Avril then he was dreaming. Avril had been gifted mate to him already and recently, Avril has been really nice towards her so there was no going back to Carter.

Dawn would kill her first before she would even think about going back to Carter.

Alpha Mills was so angry and before his anger could fully take control of him, he slowly took his hands off the collar of Carter's shirt and Carter adjusted his shirt.

"I'm really sorry Alpha Mills but I would rather go through the pain that comes after rejecting a mate than to get fully mated to Avril"' And with that statement Carter walked over to the door and squeezed the doorknob open.

He opened the door to leave but stopped abruptly as if he forgot to say something, so he then turned and stole a short glance at Ariel who was still glaring at him.

Carter didn't mind the glare Ariel shot at him and smiled, which got Ariel stunned. Carter must have finally gone crazy.

"I'm coming back for you, Ariel".
