Chapter 15 - Prospect

Carl had found this world really blessed.

The practice of cultivation here however was very common. Academies and cultivation books were everywhere on the Internet.

With all the capabilities and special privileges mages could obtain in society, children were socially encouraged by society to become a mage in the future. The mention of cultivation was frequently seen in television, radios, street holograms, or commercial ads.

There was no discrimination by race, gender, or status.

If his previous world was like Earth, many of his friends could've lived a different life.

The sons and daughters of their gardeners, chefs, or maids, the children out of wedlock of his father, grandfathers, and uncles all could have had an easier life!

They would've gotten the chance to develop their cultivation talent instead of following their long line of ancestors to be mere lowly servants.

Many youths would not have gone rogue for cultivation only to end up dead in the hands of their own kin.

After paying the bill, Carl only had 50 dollars on his bank account.

He could only receive money with the daily allowance the academy provides which was a mere 20 dollars, so he knew it was pathetic but it soon will change.

Carl inputted the number on the white business card that the blonde girl left and waited for the call to connect.

Meanwhile, on the 40th floor of the GKS Headquarters, Front Office…

Ring, ring, ring____

"Um, are you not going to pick that up?"

A female co-worker who just entered the office arched her eyebrows as she looked at the blonde girl staring at her phone with her usual icy eyes.

"I can talk now then?" there was a pause to see if her friend reacted, "You're really not picking it up?"

"You know," Cath, her beautiful friend, finally opened her mouth, "Lady Corelia gave me a job for the first time in like two years, and the year's almost over."

"And?"

"But that job is pissing me off."

"You mean the person who's calling you again," the female co-worker pointed out as the phone started ringing again.

"Yup," Cath replied with exhaustion and followed it with sarcasm, "I'm supposed to rope in this guy to the club who was a level 1 acolyte by the way, and make sure other clubs won't approach him.'

Then she added something in her mind, 'We even have to cooperate with that person from the MA to make sure nothing gets out.'

"Ah, so GKS already claimed this 'incredible prospect'?' her friend asked.

"That's what the other clubs are thinking, but we actually don't have a claim on this guy yet. I clearly told him to call back, but he hasn't called in three days. I thought he was still recovering in the hospital but he's apparently gone this morning and has been in good shape for a while"

Her friend could understand what happened just by listening. She knew her friend's personality. Cath probably just said call me and ditched the scene after getting annoyed.

She then mulled over the situation, and made her own judgment.

'But this guy is also to blame If he's just an acolyte, he must be a promising student and he knew many clubs are interested at his value. And due to his talent, he is too arrogant and ignorant for his own good.'

"This guy must be stupid! GKS is one of the better clubs in the League! We have over a million prospects dreaming to get here. He must be way over his head!"

Cath groaned in agreement and produced a short chuckle.

Only she knew the truth of the story, but her friend got a great point.

'Even if he is an otherworlder, he must already know who GKS is, it's stronger than a country and Lady Corelia wants him in the club because of her mother, and that's good, but most of his powers are gone.'

Cath, Aaron, and Corelia measured Carl's Centers of power with a special device while he was being transferred to the hospital. And even after re-checking the numbers, it was pathetic. It was a hundred times more pathetic than the weakest prospect they have in the club.

Garbage. Totally.

It was not the average value for a level 1 acolyte.

Carl Craze was at the bottom of the bottom ranks of acolytes. It was almost similar to a regular person!

Cath was honestly disappointed.

'Lady Corelia seemed excited for this otherworlder as he apparently got connections with her mother who disappeared ten years ago, but this person was way too weak.'

'Even when he got most of his powers and had just arrived on this world, his powers are rank 1 mage at best, how many rank 1 mages do we even have in the club?'

Cath was distraught.

There were over three hundred acolytes in the club right now and it was too much; they had already cut the less talented ones. Most that remained were level 3 and 2 acolytes, with the remaining few almost at their breakthrough.

With the addition of Carl Craze, he would be an odd addition.

Most of the kids will get curious and he would have a target on his back.

This was just a waiting problem for her in the front office who would have to shoulder the responsibility of taking a low level fat acolyte in.

'Lady Corelia told me not to tell anyone about the truth too.' Cath felt the stress in her mind, 'I swear if this guy doesn't perform well after all my hard work, I will honestly kill him.'

On the other side of the phone, Carl was panicking, as he dialed the number again.

'It's my first time using this, but am I doing something wrong? Or this phone is just too destroyed to not even make a single call?'

Just then, the phone stopped ringing, and a girl's voice was heard sighing irritated.

"Hello?"

Carl greeted, and the girl sighed again before she suddenly replied with an attitude.

"You slime, who the hell do you think you are to take so long to respond?"
